More Super Megaforce Casting News - David Yost, Sally Martin, More
 

Over the course of the last 8 hours there have been more cast updates about the upcoming anniversary season of Power Rangers Super Megaforce. For starters, we'll continue with the most famous of the franchise, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

David Yost, who played Billy the Blue Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has tweeted that he chose not to go back to Power Rangers.

Megaforce=No 4 me. They lost me when the offer started "Dear Power Ranger" & had several grammatical errors. #donewithabusiverelationships

Through our good friend Fury Diamond of RangerCrew.com, we've also learned that Sally Martin, who played Tori the Blue Wind Ranger in Power Rangers Ninja Storm, as well as Melanie Vellajo, who played Madison the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers Mystic Force, did not receive invites to appear as a cameo. Fury Diamond confirms it in this tweet here.

And finally, Dan Ewing, Dillon the Black Ranger from Power Rangers RPM, let his fans know that he did not receive an invite either.

UPDATE: Not that this comes as any surprise, but Mr. Yellow was able to discover that none of the Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers were invited to attend. Check out the info by clicking here.

UPDATE #2: Caitlin Murphy, who played Ronny the Yellow Ranger in Power Rangers Operation Ovedrive, received an invite BEFORE the "mass E-mail" sent out by Saban Brands, but has never heard back from production.

We've updated our comprehensive list of actors returning and not returning for Super Megaforce. What are your thoughts on the latest developments for casting?

Even without Saban's backwards ass way of asking these people back I can COMPLETELY understand why David Yost doesn't want to come back. He was treated terribly on the set of Mighty Morphin and Zeo which eventually led to him leaving the show. No one should have any problem with him rejecting the offer. Especially if you take into the scraps that Saban is offering for these actors to return.

Man, at this point it's starting to look like Tommy Oliver's lone stand against the Zangyaku army.:lol

I feel bad for both David Yost and Erin Cahill, as I truly believe that both of them would have wanted to come back under the right conditions. Erin can't because of SAG and union rules, and while I'm not sure if David is SAG as well, I'm sure he has a bitter taste in his mouth and getting a generic invite as opposed to a phone call is probably an easy pass for him.

Steve Cardenas and Karan Ashley I can understand, but I think both should have worded it differently. Both their statements come off as "I would love to do it, but Saban didn't offer me enough money for xyz, you should blame Saban for being cheap".

On one level that's admirable. On the logical side it seems pretty stupid of them to think he would want to return.

He received the generic E-mail like most of the others did.

If you count a generic email labeled "Dear Power Ranger" as actually trying.

The more news we get of past actors and actresses either not getting an invite or turning it down due to the pocket money they'd be getting in return, the worse Saban looks.

For an anniversary season that was supposed to be "Their most expensive season yet", this is looking utterly horrible.

Yeah, it's kinda running neck and neck with Doctor Who's 50th anniversary for being one letdown after another.

I'm certainly open to being pleasantly surprised by some bit of news here, but this hasn't been a good week for that, it seems.

I think I would die if Tommy was given a Gokai Cellular, the Green Ranger key, yelled out "It's morphin time!", then started kicking ass as the Green Ranger theme played in the background.

But instead we'll probably get some orchestrated crappy score with dialogue that doesn't match the character at all.

Tori was my first Blue Ranger. She bothered herself with coming back for "Once a Ranger, Parts I and II." Why didn't you send an invitation?

David Yost is the first Blue Ranger. You had better be sorry for treating him so horribly.

well Yost was treated differently on the set and with what they are paying for these actors to return to the screen for a small few mins cameo it really isnt worth it.the pay isnt worth just going over to a different country and film when you lose money instead of gaining.i'm betting at least most of the actors are SAG.

Nobody even remembers the alien rangers anyway so that one is understandable.

They did bring back Red Alien Ranger for Forever Red so they aren't totally forgotten. You can't use him as one of the 10 Reds for a 10th anniversary and then not use him again for the 20th. That just seems silly. Though I do know the actor they used in Forever Red was a sound alike that never appeared out of suit.

Yost was cool in the original series and he's 1 of the 1st Power Rangers, but I understand why he didn't want to come back.

Do we have a running tally for who IS going to be in Super Megaforce? Also, it might be nice to have a sticky on the forums with a who-is and who-isn't list.

I'm I the only one who thinks Yost is a bit a jerk rejecting the offer?? I mean, you do a cameo not for money but for the fan. If I was an actor on power rangers I would of go for free. C'mon is the 20th, saying not to that it's pretty much spitting on all the fan.....He will have to understand one day that he's Billy the blue ranger not David Yost. William shatner, leonard nimoy and patrick stewart understand that long time ago.

Yep. You are. David Yost was abused and insulted on the set quite often.

Also, The other three you listed are A list celebrities. They're paid to go back to do cameos and shows and it's worth their while. Those actors became those people because the fandom is large enough that after they did their stints as Star Trek actors, that's what they did for the rest of their lives primarily. They became icons and fan demand. While Billy is a fan favorite, our fandom isn't large enough to allow hardly any Power Ranger actor to continue with an acting career. Most have moved on. If I was in the same situation that David Yost was in while working under Saban, I'd say no too.

These people have lives now. Some, like Yost, have tried to move on from Power Rangers. In fact, Yost was fairly reclusive to the fandom until not too long ago. He doesn't want to embrace something that gives him bad memories, but he still appreciates his fans. The two don't have to go hand in hand.

I fear that your response is one that the majority of the fandom will feel, betrayed because their favorite Ranger actor isn't coming back. I really really hope that's not the case here though and most won't think selfishly because the actors have decided to do something more worthwhile in their lives.

I've been thinking, if we didn't have gokaiger that had so many returning actors, would we still be this mad? I mean we would a little since they've done something for every anniversary, but they already have people coming back confirmed

Having a handful of people come back is pretty insulting. Saban is feigning that they tried to get people back. They're trying to place blame and guilt on the actors who aren't returning with the whole 'we can't pay you alot but please come down' bit. They want them to do it for whatever scraps their offering which is insulting to the actors.

i know toei was able to get so many back due the fact most enjoy there time on the show and that toei is a bigger company that also make anime and such so they have more money all saban brands needs to do is ask toei if they can support funds to have actors and actress return due to the fact they are helping out making the pr legend war also know as mega battle.

no offense but i think you are jumping to the conclusions, just because these actors didnt get no invite, it doesnt mean they are not showing up either, it's possible saban will invite them or maybe some of them are invited.

you cant just take social media as source, the source is watching the show or wait for info from inside the show.

This is why you should always be nice to people, especially in a professional work environment. You never know when you might need a favor down the road from the same person you thought it was okay to treat like scum. Honestly, if I were David, I wouldn't go back to Power Rangers either.

How is what he said what you said? he said that being offered next to nothing and feigning blame is insulting. That has nothing to do with who will or won't show up, as it's still insulting that Saban did that.

Don't even remotely blame Yost for not returning.

Also not surprised that we'll not be seeing anyone from RPM considering the circumstances that season took place in, it would be really out of place.

Doesn't the Super megaforce megazord require someone from RPM?

The design of Machalcon is original enough that they could probably pass it up as something not directly related to RPM. Have it be the prototype for the Kawaizords.

Soundalikes would suggest effort, so far we have seen none.
