Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Yellow Division Round 9
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

And then there were two. We've got one last qualifying match and then we can say goodbye to all the also-rans and move on to the real matches (and Chip's). And to wrap things up we're matching up the first Yellow Ranger ever with the first Yellow Ranger ever who was supposed to be male in the Sentai footage.

Dustin might technically be stronger, but I want to take that bear hammer of his straight to his head. I really don't like Dustin. While the other characters in NS either grew on me or just had awesome moments, Dustin could've fallen into a hole and never return for all I care.

Dustin, and damn it i knew he would go against someone that everyone else would vote for, nothin against trini, but i mean, i have barely watched MMPR, and NS was THE series that i started watchin and he reminds me of myself, airheaded and the only group of my friends that would freak out if i became a PR :lol

To be fair, Trini was always my least favorite of the original Rangers. Compared to the rest she always seemed kind of flat and boring. But at least she wasn't Dustin. :lol

All that matters is that it connects squarely to Dustin's face.

Imma go with Dustin on this one. Trini was bland and unmemorable as hell. Moreso than your average MMPR Ranger even. Seriously the MMPR rangers were all 'generic do-gooder plus one unique quirk' and I can't even remember Trini's.

Trini may have been probably the least interesting original ranger, but she's still 100 times better than Dustin.

And with the exception of Cam, all the Ninja Storm rangers were "EXTREME SPORTS plus one unique quirk".

But come on EXTREME 90sness aside, the Ninja Storm teens were much more realistic than the MMPR ones.

I guess, but I don't really find any Power Rangers cast particularly believable teenagers. The do-gooder MMPR cast was ridiculous, but the cliche Ninja Storm cast was just unbearable.

Fair point by 'more realistic' I meant comparatively, they still appear to be written by someone who was seemingly born in their thirties. :lol

MMPR characters got more realistic in the later seasons. I will say the first season they were a product of the times.

Trini is the original and still the best Yellow Ranger in my book. She's got the fighting skills, she's got the brains, she's got the right attitude. She's also yet to be topped.

Beyond that, there's nothing in NS to suggest that any of them deserve to be on a team of this caliber.

Dustin.And not cause he's more popular,but because he's stronger.This is a contest to find the strongest team,not the most popular.(Even though in the end it will end up being either Lily,Gia,or Taylor winning)

Is this even a discussion? Trini wins hands down.

Dustin because he's a ninja. Also this isn't a popularity contest but Trini is going to win anyway because everyone else seems to think it is.

Or they could just genuinely think she's the better ranger? If everyone was treating this as purely a popularity contest I highly doubt Carter would have won the red ranger tournament.

I already acknowledged that I was biased this round.
While I try to vote fairly, regardless of how my peers vote, this time around, I really can't bring myself to vote for Dustin. I seriously hate that guy. His actor could be the coolest guy in the world, but the character is just so grating...

Cause of how he had to choose between Motocross and being a ranger? I thought out of all of them,he had the better story.He had a decision to make which affected his life.He struggled through the series about it,and he did have some good storytelling moments about it.Sure he's not the best ranger,or the best character,but he did have his moments.

I really didn't feel that his story arc had any impact. Granted, it's hard to feel any kind of connection to a motocross ninja ranger.
It has been a while since I've seen Ninja Storm, but I really have no interest in rewatching it, because I seriously don't like Dustin.

To be fair I see it as one and the same, I wouldn't appreciate a Ranger, no matter how strong a character if they sucked when morphed.

I am voting for my favourites, but that is because my favourites are also, in my mind, best suited for the job.

Bullflop. Trini would mop the floor with Dustin. He might be a quote-unquote "ninja" but he's also a spaz doofus. Trini has both the martial skills and the control to use them effectively.

Well, Dustin put up a good fight, but Trini will be moving on as our final quarter-finalist. Said quarter-finals will begin momentarily.
