Let's Watch Wednesdays Week 12 Gekiranger Vs. Boukenger Discussion!
 

Taking place after the events of the Boukenger TV series and around the middle of Gekiranger, this adventure follows our 2 teams as they battle against the deadly new Pachacamac XII and his Space Kimpo.

If you don't want to be spoiled by some of the events in Boukenger it may be best not to watch this film yet, just fair warning to all.

Oh, phew.
I downloaded a TVN batch of Geki that included it. That's good, saved me X hours time of downloading it...

Okay, watched it.

It suffers from the same problem every non Shinken/Gosei Vs movie suffers from. One team gets all the focus while another is just auxiliary characters who seem inserted in. Here, it's just the Boukenger's issue that just happens to drag the Gekirangers along. While it's not as bad as GoBus/Gokai, it's still kind of just "The Gekirangers just happen to be there."

It's still an enjoyable movie, though. The fighting is awesome, the team dynamics...Well, they work when it's actually used, and the climax and epilogue are both fun.

Well the primary plot really stems from the Boukengers being manipulated. I'ts inevitable the Gekirangers are pretty shoe horned in with the space kenpo bit. I still think it's a great movie. Really awesome to see GekiRinWolfTouja. And seeing Daivoyager fly to the damn moon makes me happy :lol

I understand that, but they could've done more than just literally have the Gekirangers sit in the back seat, along for the ride...
I wished they dwelled more on the character interactions like Shinken/Gosei or Gosei/Gokai, is all.

Oh yeah I get that. But it isn't fair to hold older team-up films to the gold standard that is Goseiger Vs. Shinkenger. This one was fun for what it was

movie was okay. not too bad at all

It was fun, don't get me wrong. I enjoyed it.
I just felt like they did the bare minimum for a team up (Granted, I haven't seen very many team ups, so I could just be cursed by only having seen the good ones, so a "Decent" one seems a lot worse)

Gaoranger Vs. Super Sentai
Go-Busters Vs. Gokaiger
Boukenger Vs. Super Sentai

Yeah, the bolded are the ones I've seen (And Gokai/Gosei), and it's been well over 5 years since I've seen the Bouken and Gao vs. Super Sentai, so my memory of them is very hazy.

As big as my undying love for Boukenger and Gaoranger is I have to say that their team-ups were a mess. Being anniversary shows they really got hit hard in the plot department. Gaoranger Vs. Super Sentai is so damn long and boring that the few good parts get drowned out, and the Boukenger one would be better if the whole team was in it for more than 10 minutes.

The only thing I remember from Gao Vs. Super Sentai was the end song, Super Sentai Tamashii.

All I remember from Bouken was that Akared was introduced during that one, right?

Correct on both counts. Aka Red is the best part of the Boukenger one. Love that guy.

Boukenger vs. Gekiranger, not the best team up but I still enjoyed it. The fact it featured two of my all time favorite teams contributed to that enjoyment. The obligatory monster of the week that gets focus was rather amusing, not even remembering the name of his style and trying to tickle the DaiVoyager. Pacha Kamaq the 12th was rather impressive(his predacessor even more so if he could fight Master Brusa for days an managed to win), more impressive than his decendant who appeared in Gokaiger(Pajama Jack :lol). The team intereaction while rather limited was nice especially the post credit stuff(Akashi channeling his inner Jan? Freaking priceless :lolol). The high point of the movie was definitely the action scenes. Loved the Red Zone Tiger Geki and GekiRinToujaWolf. Also Toei, please remember Ultimate DaiBouken. That's how you do the double digit gattai robos right.

Geki Rin Touja Wolf was awesome, indeed.
And the scenes like Gou and Ken having a vegetable eat off against BoukenSilver were especially fun.
But I felt they could have done better in the character interaction department throughout the movie rather than the credits scene and the "What is Bouken" scene in the middle.

And other than the song and Akared, I really remember nothing else from Gao and Bouken vs. Super Sentai :lol

Not bad at all. Plenty of lol moments. First time I think I have ever seen a motw (err movie rather) attemp to tickle a mech. Loved the fights as always.

Meh. I think all the team-ups I've seen are fine. My least favorite is Gaoranger vs., and that's just because of the acres of boring and misplaced footage.

Totally agreed dude. That's why I keep it in that ugly category. I love Gaoranger, but the hour worth of stock footage used, and the plot that was tied together out of thin air, makes me really really struggle to care about this movie.

I didn't really like this movie, honestly. I felt it wasn't really substantial and that the villain was kind of wasted. Pachacamac was a really cool looking villain with a huge build-up (being stronger than Master Brusa Ee) but was defeated very quickly. I guess they can't do much in the movies but this was just coming after the explosive battles with the Kenma we watched recently.

It's not bad, but honestly I enjoyed the Nei Nei Hou Hou movie better than this one.

That's strange, Shinkenger Vs. Go-onger is my all time favorite versus movie (aside from Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle, if that counts), and while I didn't think Magiranger Vs. Dekaranger was that great, I still enjoyed it better than Gekiranger Vs. Boukenger. Different opinions. :lol
