The Philosopher's Stone
The Philosopher's Stone is a concept from alchemy; it is a stone that can turn on all base metals into gold or silver, and also produces the Elixir of Life, a chemical that can be used to rejuvenate and immortalize a human being. It was the goal of most Western alchemists for over a century, until alchemy diminished, being replaced by the more scientifically grounded chemistry. However, it is still used in fiction, most famously in Harry Potter and the Sorceror's/Philosopher's Stone, and most recently in Kamen Rider Wizard.
*Spoilers ahead.* Given what we have seen of the show at this point, Wiseman is in search of the Philosopher's Stone, and holding a Sabbat to make Phantoms seems to be a key point in its obtainment. Haruto's final form is also known as "Infinity Style." There is also a golden Kamen Rider set to appear in the Kamen Rider Wizard movie. I might be horribly wrong, but perhaps Haruto is a part of the Philosopher's Stone. The Elixir of Life is supposed to grant eternal life. Haruto keeps Koyomi alive by giving her his mana. Perhaps Koyomi is merely a laboratory that uses mana to create the Elixir of Life. The golden Rider is rumored to turn everyone on Earth into a Wizard, much like how the Philosopher's stone is said to turn all base metals into gold/silver. But how does this tie in with the Sabbat? I hypothesize that the Sabbat is meant to create a part of the Philosopher's Stone, Phantoms being a by-product of the process. But what about Koyomi? Another property attributed to the Philosopher's Stone is the ability to create a homonculus, a fully-functioning, miniature human being. While not quite miniature, Koyomi was found by the White Wizard after the Sabbat. Now the question remains: how does the White Wizard tie in? |
Sounds a lot like Fullmetal Alchemist to me. Philosopher's Stone, grand gathering of souls, magic circles, homunculus...

If Wizard doesn't end with them fighting a horrific child/dog hybrid now, I will be very disappointed

If i don't see The Gate of Truth at the finale, i'll be flipping so many tables.

… I have no idea what any of you are talking about.

Koyumi is the Philosopher's Stone.
She never spawned a phantom. She was actually the one who caused the eclipsed that spawned every other phantom. She requires mana not to live, but to remain sentient, running out of mana will cause her to "Die" and become the stone once more, forming Haruto's final ring. |

Oh look a FMA Reference it's not like every other post in this thread isn't already one.

Full Metal Alchemist's use of the alchemy/philosopher's stone stuff isn't unique in itself, it just took the already-existing mythology of it. The actual plot of FMA is much different to Wizard. It's like, if you saw Raiders of the Lost Ark and then a movie about the Ark of the Covenant, doesn't meant that latter movie ripped off Raiders necessarily. Unless there's an archeologist fighting nazis. The mythology existed before the first place you saw it in media.
I think it's a likely theory. I'm really hoping the White Wizard turns into the Golden Wizard, that'd be neat. Of course what I'd REALLY like to happen is Medusa gets annoyed with Wiseman and Gremlin and brings Phoenix back to Earth and they have a big conflict. |

While I am waiting for my Wizard effects set to do a nice FMA type joke, the only thing I will say is Koyomi is the Philosopher's Stone. The girl has done absolutely nothing at all since episode 6 other than being wallpaper, so that is how they are going to make her character relevant in any manner. If they don't, then she did not even need to be in the show.
And yes, we all know FMA is not the origin of alchemy, but it is the most recent thing to truly focus on alchemy and help gain a lot of interest in it. Besides, it is fun to make jokes, so lay off people that do. |

What if the entire aspect is not magic just alchemy? I mean, any time Wizard does a spell it uses a transmutation circle. Not to mention it requires stones to cast these spells. And it does seem like every time Haruto gains an upgrade, he has to give up a part of his soul. Plus, Nitou has to feed the Chimera if he wants to continue living.
|
Because that hinges on Wizard being FullMetal Alchemist.
Here's a quick spoiler alert. It's not. |

Transmutation circles don't exist outside of the FMA universe. |

I honestly don't have any interest beyond making this thread more than "Fullmetal Alchemist References: The Thread."

If it makes you feel better, I will post something "Non-Full Metal Alchemist" related. "Dat dehr philosoraptor stone is totally going to /b/ inside of Haruto-sama the entire time!" That is however my actual theory on the subject. Mainly because of Sora's suspicion of Haruto the entire time. I have this feeling that the reason Wiseman/White-Wizard interest in Haurto in the first place. Also? Inb4 the wizard driver is the Philosphers stone. |
Maybe the philospher's stone is the source of where the magic in the stones that makes the rings comes from? Maybe Wiseman wants it so no more Wizards can use it. Up to this point, the Wizards that count according to White Wizard, all use rings as a conduit for their phantom's powers.
Or, Wiseman is trying to redirect the phantom's powers into Wizards since a final form of a wizard could be more powerful then a phantom born from despair.I.E. Haruto is stronger in infinity form then as a dragon phantom. I got nothing else, there's been barely any plot up to this point but I want to get invested in the lore of Wizard but its not giving me enough or the right details. I will give Wizard a round of applause if the Beast Driver is the Philospher's stone though |

I really think that Koyomi is the philosophers stone, especially with whats happening with her. I also didn't notice if the white wizard gave that lunar ring to the female rider (i forget her name), but if not, i bet it's made for Koyomi.
