It's really sad that BOA tried to pass this thing off on us. Truly unfortunate that not only did people have to sit through the mindlessness of Operation Overdrive, but they also didn't have proper toys to go with it :(

Man that thing is fugly. Glad I got the HK Reissue. The Dual Drive actual came as two different sets. The first is the one that doesnt include the jet but has a black version of the dump driver. That one has the crane head, but the cement mixer and crane trucks were just boots. The second one that is the equivalent of Daitanken doesnt have the crane head but has semi proper cement mixer and cranes. So in order to make verything in the Tv show, you had to buy THREE sets. Ugh.

I came for Drivemax, I stayed for Ape Face. I had Snapdragon as a kid and sometimes muse about trying to recollect both of the Triple changer Headmaster Horrorcons. It is currently one of those times.

Overdrive was the preverbal 'bottom of the barrel' for PR. Produced in 2006 and aired in 2007, it's almost like Disney and Bandai KNEW that there was a economic collapse coming since they seemed to spend little to no money on either the show or production of the toys.

Would you believe this is the third review I done of this set. The other two reviews I couldn't publish because I wasn't happy with them. This Megazord is so bad it effected my reviewing ability!

Cant say i blame you. Ive seen so many bad reviews for this thing where the reviewer couldnt be impartial. I never had any interest in Daibouken till i started watching all the BoA reviews, i felt obligated to get the whole sentai range.

when i first saw this set, i just facepalmed until i had a hand print on my face. that's how bad it was.

What a mess. I really feel bad for anyone who got it hoping to have a more affordable alternative to the DX. How long did the BOA Megazord's stay this way? I know RPM had gutted electronics and were smaller, slightly simpler, but they didn't look nearly as bad as this.

All of them after Operation Overdrive are sadly inferior (well thats subjective). RPM's was ok. But those weak shoulder connectors and the fact his face isnt hidden under the helmet detracts from it. I cant forgive Samurai's non origami zords and that damned dragon.

Couldn't possibly agree with you more. The way BOA has nerfed toys in the last few years is insulting. If Japanese kids can enjoy fully functional DX"s and still cater to adult collectors thanks to BOJ then damn it, BOA should at least be able to do the same for us.

And yes the US release Shinken Oh is a step in the right direction. But that's what the whole line should be. Things like that shouldn't be one off special releases.

With all the money PR makes, they seriously couldn't have busted for at least full functionality?

It's not just Power Rangers. Bandai of America has been turning out shit products for years now. Look at the quality of the recent Thundercats toys. And the Ben10 toys are mostly garbage as well. From what I have heard BoA doesn't care. They see the english audience as nothing more than something to be milked for profit.

The US market is 10 times the size of the Japanese market so I understand removing electronics. That doesn't bother me. What does bother me is completely retooling these figures. As stated above, BoA doesn't care. Which makes me terrified for Gokaioh and GobusterOh.

I cant even begin to imagine how they'd handle Gobusters since its like the most complicated toy Super Sentai franchise has released in ages.

The Thundercats line was, by-and-large, pretty awesome. The larger scale figures were a huge step-up and even the 3-inch figures were a cut above usual Bandai standards of paint and articulation. Thundercats was the first time I ever thought BOA may, just maybe, be heading in a positive direction...

What did the Thundercats in?
Were the toys just not selling or something?

That's my guess. It really is a shame that the fate of a tv series (and an awesome one at that) can be decided over whether or not the toys are selling.

Combination lackluster toy sales (likely distribution since Canada never even got them) and Cartoon Network.

What did Cartoon Network do THIS time?

Did you watch the run of the Thundercats show. It was mostly pointless filler. Also, CN kept moving the show to different time slots AND the split up the season in block of four eps that aired every three months. They pretty much set it up to die.

I actually had to catch it on Youtube and etc because of the eclectic and constant time changes :lol
But I understand now...Shame. I enjoyed it.

Canada got some of them.

You're forgetting Jungle Fury. While most of the line wasn't released at the DX scale, what they did release seemed, in my opinion, quite accurate.

If I recall, there were 2 Jungle Fury releases, no?
One DX sized release, and one gift set (With the Black Lion and Chameleon) that was smaller.

Well, there was the Jungle Pride Megazord, the Jungle Master Megazord, and two Disney Store Exclusives in the form of Saidaioh and GekiRinTouja (sans glowing fists, of course).

Jungle Furry was a little bonkers. There was the 5-6 inch Micro Animal Zords. These were small zords that could all combine together.

Then there was the DX Deluxe Jungle Pride Megazord (which I'll post my review of it in another thread). It was just about the same thing as the japanese dx release (but the lights never worked)

Next is the Beast Master Megazord. Indigo Bat, White Puma, Black Leopard, Sea Blue Shark, and Green Elephant. The Fury Cycles can also become the arms and a ranger figure can fit inside the body of the Megazord. Really bad quality on this one. Look good thought. Again, I already reviewed it and will post the review in another thread.

The Wild Adventure Jungle Set had another Megazord in it. 5 inches this time.

There was this set: Transforming Fury Megazord Set - Lion, Chameleon, Elephant, Shark, Tiger, Jaguar, Cheetah, Bat, and Wolf. The Jungle F Megazord inside is about 3 inches shorter than the original release.

The Jungle King Megazord was a rehash on the Jungle Pride Megazord. Again, you can stuff a ranger inside the megazord.

Finally the Ultimate Megazord Playset - Lion, Chameleon, Tiger, Cheetah and Jaguar. THIS was the set. It was the Japanese toys in exact size and scale. Too bad I never found this as I think it was a Disney Store exclusive.

No wonder keeping up with the Jungle Fury releases was so confusing.
I never had any clue which figure anyone was ever talking about because 3 flipping Jungle Pride Megazords were released >.>
