So we got some pretty good discussion going the other day and apparently we can make a thread for the show so...

Now we have a thread to contain all the moaning about the continuity errors and poor writing, yay.

Obviously you can discuss other stuff...

I seriously need to get back into this show...I haven't watched it in years.

I'm just kinda happy right now pretending it ended at season four, I don't even feel like I wanna watch season 9 but after all this time it seems like a waste.

Christ, Season 9?
Man, I've been left in the dust...

The current story is plotted to run to season 10 if they get it.

I honestly can't even tell you the last season I watched in full...Dayum.

Don't worry season four was where the quality got really spotty, season 5 was where it all fell apart and it's just been a real mess ever since.

So, last thing I can remember is Castiel essentially (Or possibly literally) becoming God. What ever happened with that?

That was solved in like one episode and unleashed the Leviathan, who achieved absolutely nothing expect setting up the plot for season 8 which also went nowhere.

Castiel absorbed all of the souls in Purgatory and become God, however he also absorbed the Leviathan. God's first attempt at Life and beings that almost devoured the world. Castiel dies. The Brothers Winchester spend the season trying to clean up the mess. And Castiel comes back. But (Read at your own risk) They also lose Bobby. That made me honest to God cry.

I love Supernatural. It stays in my Netflix rotation, even though I've watched them all several times. I keep hoping, at some point, Castiel gets his own series. Misha is a treasure.

Favorite episode though has to be Swan Song. What was supossed to be the series finale, but yet they got renewed. Absolutely loved how it ended.

I don't, I haven't since season 4 but with such low viewing figures I never expect it to keep getting renewed but it does. And each time I think well I've made it this far, I should keep going and my God seasons 6 - 8 were a train wreck and a half.

And I like Misha. I bet he's a cool guy, but he has been around for a bit too long.

You would think so right? But Purgatory is just a woodland area with a cheap filter and a couple of vampires.

And the Leviathan's had a lot of hype and it all deflated and went nowhere.

I cannot be the only one who loves Castiel. The episode where he and Dean have to investigate an angel appearance? That's one of the funniest of the entire series!

I actually like Castiel.
But some things are better when they're a Rarity.

Not bash, as such since that would be me just attacking it, but certainly to moan about the endless list of continuity errors, bad writing and fan overhyping of what was once the best show on TV, certainly.

And Supernatural as a whole is a series I enjoyed, but it just lost me through convoluted twists and odd turns.

I like Castiel. I bought a blue necktie and named it after him.

And Matrixbeast, if it helps to give you incentive to watch, there is an episode in Season 7 with Princess Celestia's voice actress playing a fairly active role.

I still think the Season 5 finale was the best episode, but I do think the show is starting to approach that quality again (although that finale had an exceptionally high quality to begin with anyway).

I loved it 1 - 3 when it was about two brothers, travelling from town to town. It wasn't really about just killing monsters, or even just about the brothers, but it was just about people and the hardships of life. Back then the brothers weren't selfish, or inhumane, they just did the best they could for anyone looking for help and I dug it.

An episode with Nicole Oliver? Sweet.

Anyway, I just liked it for the mythology it built. The stories it told. The characters it gave us. It was building up something great, and compared to other shows at the time, that was something I admired. It was building up to something.

Oh, and couldn't this have been posted in the American Toku subforum?

It is too Toku. It doesn't need to be a Super hero series or a Henshin Hero show to qualify.

I'm in progress of marathoning this (again) with my other half. Ahaha.

I've been rewatching my first Season Boxsets, reminding myself I'm not a nostalgic douchebag and it really was so much better back then.

It honestly was. I miss when at the worst? A Demon was a season finisher... Now? Psh. Demons are like Buffy's Vampires... sooooo in-disposable.

Though, I really do hope that all is successful in this season's current plot of gates. I'm a bit tired of Angels, and Demons...

It had such heart, such imagination and ambition. It was enriching as it was thrilling. None of that remains in the later seasons.

If you need any better representation of this, just watch as Sam and Dean murder hundreds of innocent people throughout Season 8 because apparently the vessels don't matter any more when demons are inside them. I remember when they'd pain over a single demon for episodes at a time, risking their own lives to save the stranger the demon possessed. Well fuck that, that was actually emotionally involving storytelling and we don't want any of that! Let's just write more fanbaiting between Cas and Dean.

This is the kind of shit that makes me fed up of absolutely everything in modern Supernatural, it's just a massive inconsistent mess.
