Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Blue Division Quarter-finals Round 2
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

Red Ranger: Carter Grayson
Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

All right, the last round was interesting. I expected it to be a lot closer, but we had a very clear victor. Let's see if this round will be any closer (spoiler alert: it won't)

I'm unfamiliar with either of them, and I hear a lot of people like RPM, so Flynn.

I reckon I'll go with Flynn just because I don't like the Power Ranger practice of 'well she is a girl so she MUST fancy someone on the team, regardless of chemistry, pace, plotting...anything'.

She won't add anything to our team if all she does is flirt with Grayson. That isn't to say I think she is a bad Ranger but when stacked up against Flynn...

Flynn, Ziggy and Dr. K WERE the defining characters of RPM, IMO.

Yes, I voted for Madison. No, you'll never get me to change my mind. Especially since everyone's reason for voting for Flynn seems to be "Scottish :D".

Oh yeah...

It was the overwhelming thought on why someone voted for Flynn, I didn't mean literally everyone.

And how exactly does he win this? Madison has access to many spells, including Legendary. Flynn, while a capable fighter, only really has his cannon and basic weapons to call on. Madison wins this, I'm sorry, she just does.

This thing has become less about who's the best to the fight in the team, and more about an outright popularity contest.

The best one for the job isn't always the one with the bigger gun (Figuratively speaking).

Flynn brings more than just power. He brings personality. He brings some cleverness. He brings energy.

He does all of that rather well, I'll admit. And I thought using the "run-off energy explosion" when he morphs to attack the enemy was really clever. And hillarious. But that only gets you so far. I'm not trying to say Madison would dominate (giggity) the fight, and Flynn would just outright get his ass kicked. I'm not. It'd be a close brawl even after she calls on Legendary. I just see Madison edging ahead just because she has more adaptability with the use of her spells.

Sheer power alone shouldn't be the deciding factor though. I voted for Flynn not just because he's a good fighter but because he has heart and is also 'a simple mechanic'. The guy built a zord from scratch for pete's sake.

Maddison might have powerful spells, but she doesn't really add anything else to the team.

She has adaptability. Same reason I think Fourze beats out someone like Den-O (Sword Form (Momotaros)). Momo is very strong, a very skilled fighter, but Fourze has the adaptability and versitility. Same thing here. Flynn is smart, and very clever. But Madison just has more to call on and more ways to win.

Like I said before: it'd be a very close fight. But in my mind Madison edges it out.

Actually, so does Ziggy. Except Ziggy brings the heart. And an ax. But mostly the heart. He risked his life to bring medicine to sick children. Flynn just wanted to be a hero and kept acting like a kid when it came to the concept of heroism. Sure he drove the bus and killed a robot by closing a door, not to mention designed a new Zord along side Gemma in a very cute montage. But Ziggy had more to love for an RPM Ranger.

I'm actually thinking Sky will win the Blue spot and that I voted for the wrong person because Scottish. Nossan, I feel ashamed. :(

Also: Gem and Gemma, how will they be handled?

Adaptability is a large factor, but making use of your limited tools is just as useful. It shows quick thinking and ingenuity beyond "Weapon 2 didn't work? Swap to Weapon 3. Weapon 3 didn't work? Swap to Weapon 4."

It's why, while I like Fourze, I like seeing someone like Den-O make use of what he has, rather than just constantly spam power after power.

You're talking to someone who likes Green Lanterns, Kings of the Power Spam, so.. you're barking up the wrong tree with that arguement :lol

I see your point though, I do. I just still honestly thing Maddie wins this.

I think Flynn could win this based on his intellectual and physical prowess. He's an engineering genius, in addition to being smart enough to use his post-morph explosion to attack the enemy and to control the energy build-up his power causes, and is a strong fighter.

Btw, where exactly does the Road Attack Zord fall? It's kind of in that weird grey area between power up/weapon and zord. It can be used by any ranger to finish off normal sized monsters and it's not piloted but not sentient either.

It doesn't have any affect on this rounds outcome but I was just wondering.

It's why I like Spider-Man over Bats. Spidey has a clear cut power load out and makes use of what he has. Batman, when cornered, just pulls a new anti-whatever spray-arang last second.

But I understand.
I'm sticking with Flynn, though. Anyone who thinks to use a post-morph explosion as an actual attack is fine by my books :p

Yeah. Are they one character because twins or two because Gem has great contrast with Scott and FlynnXGemma is almost most as cute as ZiggyXK.

Makes me wonder how characters like RJ, Dom, and Trent work.

I'm glad to see Flynn landsliding this. He deserves the win just for being a character rather than background noise.

(And to be fair, Madison wasn't really even that either)

Madison is one of the worst characters that ever happened to Power Rangers. I'd take annoying characters over her.

I actually like Madison as a character. I just don't think she got used particularly well in Mystic Force. And I certainly don't think she is a better ranger than Flynn.
