Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Blue Division Quarter-finals Round 3
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

Red Ranger: Carter Grayson
Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

TJ had a defined character, thought of screwing with and destroying PsychoBlue by having all the Rangers go Blue for a fight, and saved the universe.

Chad had a fling with a mermaid.

I went with Chad. It might have had to have done with the fact that I like his suit better.

I think that a case could be made for TJ to actually win this thing and I am gunna think about it long and hard tonight but TJ may be getting my vote no matter who he goes up against.

He is a former red and leader. As a turbo ranger he single handily kept his team functioning as they had no one to guide or mentor them from prior rangers. His in space weapon had to be one of the better ones. His space glider was BA! His zord that formed the mega voyager was a giant freakin phallic shaped rocket and hes the black guy, if that isnt comedy gold I dont know what is!

Plus...if we dont get a minority ...your all racist :lol j/k

Chad.He had special training,he saved pretty much the entire team at the end of LSR from certain death,and as mentioned before he had a fling with a mermaid.Can TJ say he had a fling with a mermaid? Nope.

He doesn't need to.He'd probably just shoot whoever he was fighting first,then say something about martial arts training.I think this is a throw away round anyways.

There are much better Blues then TJ.Y'know,Scottish ones and former cops.I just picked Chad cause of what he did and what he is capable of.And he wasn't exactly the dullest Blue either.And can we really use the whole "saving the world" excuse just to get our favorite blues through? Haven't they all saved the world?

Not on as grand a scale as any Ranger in Countdown to Destruction.

But, hey, Chad is only on here because he was up against Lucas and that was a rather lackluster round. I'm putting my not-real money on the final round being Sky vs ScottyBagpipes MacHaggisKilt (Flynn).

I actually favor TJ over Flynn.
But that's just me.

To be fair, Chad saved the team by being able to hold his breath a really long time. That's not necessarily a sign of combat prowess.

I think Flynn will go all the way,just due to the fact that he seems to be extremely popular due to his heritage and the one thing he did cool.

Billy will make it far,but not far enough.Personally I think it's a shame cause he lasted how many seasons.He's the one ranger that wore his color the longest besides Kim,isn't he? That's gotta say something about him.Plus no super mode and he still was a great fighter.

Neither is driving a car,but hey it works for some people.Oh and a quick edit,part of the training for Navy Seals is how long they can hold their breath and getting used to being underwater.Not only did Chad save them,but he did have to swim to the sub bay at the bottom of the ocean.

Billy outlasted Kim by virtue of being a ranger through all of MMPR.

In this round, he's In Space.
So...Yeah. Spaceship.

Ok,which he didn't really pilot,pretty sure Andros did.And if we go that route,is this the first round where both rangers used a "surfboard"? That and he got demoted to a blue,which don't get me wrong.I would've rather seen him as In Space Red then Andros.

He had Mega V3, which he piloted.
Additionally, he still knew how to pilot the Astro Megaship.

I would've liked to see him as the In Space red, but eh.
I respect that TJ didn't become as whiny as Rocky did after being demoted (Granted, it may have only been for one episode, but that's one more episode of whining than TJ had).

Oh yeah,forgot about the Megas.I'll give him that.And I totally agree with you about Rocky.Is it just me or did half the time he have this smirk on his face that I always wanted to smack off it?

Oh, trust me, he did.
The writers tried to give the new characters more personality than the goody-good original characters.
Unfortunately for Rocky, they chose to let him have this smug asshole grin across his face.

Flynn was also a policeman, a firefighter, and leader of a tribe of native New Zealandamericans. This is before you factor in his ingenuity, mechanical aptitude, strength, power, and bravery. The fact that he yelled out the fact that he's Scottish just adds to his personality and why he is awesome.

Anyway, I don't see how going from Red Ranger to Blue Ranger is a demotion (S.P.D. notwithstanding). Sure, Red Ranger is usually the leader, but Blue Rangers are the hearts/minds of their teams (usually).

I'll admit it. I voted for Chad.. because he's not TJ.

I voted for Chad because of his search & rescue training and martial arts, but a strong pair of Blues no matter how you slice it.

I'd say TJ. He's had more experience as a ranger and while Chad having special training is nice, it can't make up for on the battlefield experience.

TJ because Space is awesome as Fourze would say. TJ was also a red prior to this so that has to say something about his fighting skills.

Two Rangers I don't give a fuck about, though given TJs versatility and experience I'd assume him the better Ranger so he gets my vote.

I voted for TJ. Chad was a solid character, but TJ has more character to him plus he's more FUN than Chad.

So by a healthy margin TJ moves on. One more quarter-final round and it is going to be a doozy.
