Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Blue Division Semi-finals Round 2
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

Red Ranger: Carter Grayson
Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

So, against my expectations, our first finalist is TJ, the Blue Space Ranger. Now we need to see who'll be going up against him. It's going to be a battle of the brains as we have book smarts vs. creative thinking.

Will the original Blue Ranger be the first MMPR Ranger to make it to a final round? Or will Flynn prove that brains and seniority are no match for Scottishness? Which Ranger will reign supreme?

I got TJ into the finals.
And he doesn't stand a change against either of them.

I really don't care. My personal favorite got farther than I anticipated :lol

I've gotta be honest, this is one of those times when I legitimately have no idea who to vote for. Both are fantastic Rangers.

This was hard. Extremely, genuinelly, tough. But I had to vote for Flynn. I love Billy, I'll always love Billy. But Flynn just wins this.

Flynn, I like him more than billy, could see him winning against him, and overall i think Flynn is better, might just be that i havent seen mmpr in forever :lol

I never really liked Billy so Flynn.

The guys totally gonna win this whole thing.

Billy is a great Ranger and a great ally. It also helps that he is a genius.

Flynn, while not of the same intellectual caliber as Billy, is still fairly intelligent, possesses a very high-level engineering and mechanical aptitude, and is physically strong, as well as having a personality that will drive him to the end to save the day.

Did I mention that Flynn is also a former firefighter, police officer, and tribal leader?

Billy, you may not be a genius on quite the same level as Flynn, but you were a huge inspiration for me as a kid and although I guess that is kinda meta, if you could inspire kids in the Power Rangers universe in the same way you did me, it'd make perfect sense to have you on the team.

And can stop freaking time.

My favorite ranger from when I was a kid Vs. my favorite from RPM. That's tough.

You can't go wrong with either choice as the 'ultimate' Blue Ranger. Both have heart, smarts, and hold the team together. Any way you look at it, this is the true final round.

Billy had heart and held the team together?

He just built random crap from time to time that was only used once.

but don't be mad but I voted for Flynn due to completely different reasons.

Nah. David Yost left during Zeo (And I just rewatched Turbo. He was absent).
It was originally intended for Billy to be the one who created the Turbo powers, but from what I've read, the bad terms David left on caused the writers to completely alter the Turbo powers' introduction, just...Existing, with no explanation.

And I'll only allow the Blue rounds to end if we can allow TJ to be the winner.

Kind of like how the Zeo Powers dissapeared without an explination. I think Saban came down with a case Of Who Gives A (Robot Chicken Reference :D).
Zeo was what I was thinking of. I don't know, those seasons kind of run together.

And no. Tj is losing to Billy or Flynn :lol

Given the opportunity to end it immediately, you still choose to prolong it just so TJ can't win.

I'll go with Flynn.Sure they both are pretty much the same,but Flynn has more going for him.By the way what segment is Dino Thunder Tommy gonna be in?

Genuinely not sure who to vote.

Billy was a great ranger and with tech smarts that are probably unrivaled. His fighting prowess is weaker than most, but he certainly evolved into a much more capable fighter.

Flynn on the other hand probably isn't as much of a wizard when it comes to random gizmos as Billy, but certainly no pushover in that department too. Plus he has much more experience as a fighter and saving lives without his powers.

Flynn is also Scottish (even if his actor isn't). I kind of feel obligated to vote for possibly the only British Power Ranger.

Billy. Like I asked matchup this is not "X vs X" this is "who is better for the team X or X" and while Flynn may beat Billy if they went one on one I think Billy is the better choice for the team

Also Billy has illusion techniques from being a ninja.

Billy is better for the team, because of his intelligence and could also help teach the ninja skills too.

Nothing against Flynn (RPM had some of the best rangers.) However if Billy could make the tech and work on the side like Zeo for the team (Is that even an option) Then Flynn should be the pick. (Because honestly both should make it)

THIS! Very true. they both deserve a spot but if I can only pick one it has to be billy his skill set just seems so much rarer

It's been awhile since I've watched MMPR/Zeo so nostalgia may have skewed my memories a bit. :lol

Regardless, I think I'm going to go with Flynn on this one. Billy would be a good mentor, but a 40 year old guy past his prime wouldn't make the best fighter.

Perfectly honest I need to watch more of RPM because I don't think I caught a lot of the awesome Flynn moments.

Say what you will about Rocky.
He legitimately had more character than Jason.

I like to think the peak of Jason's character is in the Turbo movie when he gets possessed and just walks around grunting.

I think the only time Jason's character evolved beyond white bread generic leader was when he failed at saving Tommy's powers.
And even then, the next episode he was back to his normal self.

You could give the man a pair of sunglasses and the entire viewing audience would have no idea who this man was, like in Zeo. :p

Trini was the closest to not being a generic character stereotype, and that's only because I honestly don't remember her even having a character beyond "She was nice."
