Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Blue Division Finals
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

Red Ranger: Carter Grayson
Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Okay, so after rounds of landslides and some surprisingly close semi-finals, here we are: the deciding round for who our ultimate Blue Power Ranger will be. Will it be the Blue Ranger who helped save the world from apocalypse? Or the Blue Ranger who helped save the world after the apocalypse?

Voted for TJ. I love Flynn and RPM, but I'd rather have RPM represented by Dillon, Ziggy, Gem or Gemma.

It's gonna be tough for Dillon or Ziggy in that color group,nigh impossible,but for now I'm voting for TJ.Better tech,more experience,and a good personality.

also I kiiinda feel no two people will win from 1 season so I would much rather Ziggy or Dillon be the RPM rep.

Lets not forget TJ is also the better ranger for the team. He is an Ex-red who turned over leadership gladly to someone who he felt was better suited. He also saved Tommy before ever having powers. Thats another thing. TJ was hand picked by Tommy to be his successor.

No I know all the "cool kids LOOOOVE RPM" and "the cool kids LOOOOVE to HATE anything related to turbo" but lets actually try to make the best team not just vote cuz Hes scottish...or else Im callin everyone racist.

TJ also proved hes brainy because he was the one who came up with the very clever plan to stop Psycho blue by everyone goin blue. Further more he has more heart and drive then nearly any other ranger.

So yeah...I voted TJ...the True blue

Rally that TJ vote. Gotta have someone from PRiS and TJ is probably the best choice. Although on my team I would go with Cassie for Pink but I think that's a long shot.

My early vote for pink is Jen =/ but yeah TJ is honestly a deserving Ranger. Great personality, great tech, bonus vehicle with that space surfboard, experience. He was hand picked by arguably the greatest Ranger of all time! Flynn is a great ranger no doubt but for a fact if it wasn't for him being in RPM he likely wouldn't have even made it this far =/

I don't really care for either as a character but TJ is the best Ranger out of the two, so he gets my vote.

TJ saved Tommy's and Kat's life without powers. He fought for the helpless and was completely selfless.
He was picked by Tommy to become the next Red Ranger.
He was always level headed, and managed to lead while also putting up with Demitria and Alpha 6 (I commend him for that).
When put in a pinch, he always weathered through, making the sacrifices necessary.
When given a new set of powers, he gladly stepped down from Red to Blue, without complaining in the slightest.
When he was forced to fight a superior counter part, rather than making a one off gadget, he instead used creativity and ingenuity to defeat them (Employing both the All blue thing to throw the Psychos off as well as coming up with the Psycho Silver trick).
He continually went on quests to find Zordon, examining other planets, proving he never gave up hope.
He was willing to sacrifice himself to save the civilians during the invasion of Earth.

He saved the entire galaxy. He has a flying car. He was almost baked into a giant pizza.
TJ is the man for the job, in terms of power, in terms of personality, in terms of ability.

Now, I like Flynn. His charisma and "Scottishness" are why I'm glad he's here. I also like Switch acknowledging my little "ScottyBagpipes MacHaggisKilt" thing. I also ALSO think TJ is a great Blue Ranger as well. And as I said before, Flynn and TJ both have that Charisma to win those semi-finals.

TJ just has it better. Why?
Because he's not Scottish.

Flynn had charisma that was accentuated by Ari Boyland speaking like an Aberdeen janitor. This makes his charisma more noticeable. We pay attention to the funny Scottish guy. Selwyn Ward doesn't employ an accent. Thus he needed to work at making TJ stand out and be charismatic more than Ari did.
Nothing was added to grab instant attention of the casual viewer.
Nothing was needed to do so.
Turbo's only flaw was the questions raised in my mind by Justin's Morph sequence and Morphed footage. I didn't get the point when I saw reruns of Turbo.

If I see someone slip a good one into a post - and I remember it - I'll totally use it for a later round.

Now here's why I think Flynn is superior.

Throughout his life, Flynn had always wanted to be a hero.

As a child, he attempted to stop bullies from having their way by emulating the comic-book heroes he loved to read about.

His first step was joining the police department. He was forced to leave when he tried to arrest the mayor's son, and not because he was incompetent.

He then joined the fire department, where he cared for all life (although he did go a bit hose-crazy, which cost him that job).

Afterwards, he became... an environmentalist? I don't know what it was, but he cared for the indigenous people who lived on the land that was going to be used for an organic tennis-racket factory, and led the charge of said indigenous people on the factory to save their land (he was also fired).

He did all of these jobs under the pressure of a disapproving father who believed that no good deed went unpunished. The day that Flynn accepted that was the day Venjix attacked. Despite having made it to Corinth in time, Flynn hijacked a school bus to go back for other straggling survivors who were left behind, putting his life on the line for the safety of others. That was the day his father finally accepted him.

He was later chosen as Ranger Operator Series Blue, a position he took very seriously. When he was out of commission due to an energy overload created by his superpower to stop time temporarily, he didn't just sit around and do nothing (note the "just") while his teammates were out fighting Venjix. He solved the problem in a fashion that got his team out of a tight pinch and utilized an ability most Rangers don't think to use to help in their fights.

When the RPM Zords were temporarily trashed, Flynn and Gemma developed another Zord to bolster the Rangers' arsenal, and, after a few trials and errors, created the Road Attack Zord.

Flynn is physically strong, mentally competent, and heroically natured. That is why he is the Ultimate Blue Ranger.

As long as if TJ wins,you use his smiling face as the head for blues body.

There's a reason why I only talked about TJ.
I don't think Flynn is anywhere near what could be considered a poor character. I just honestly believe TJ is better.

Flynn may have always wanted to be a hero, but TJ is different. He saw a burning truck and immediately rushed to help. He saw a woman being attacked by the foot soldiers and, once again, ran to save her (That woman turning out to be Kat). He continues on and eventually comes to save Tommy from some kind of pit of darkness, despite protests from Kat and Cassie to not get involved.
And this was all before he gained powers or even knew these people were the Power Rangers.

For Flynn, he just wanted to be a hero. For TJ, being a hero was second nature.

Someone came prepared.

wow...beautifully put :rock:makes me even more sure TJ is the best choice for the job. His friend and person say not to get involved but his instinct to be a hero overcame and before knowing anything about these strangers he helped

I wasn't able to finish that post when you replied to it (I'm not the best with computers). However, I must dispute this point.

Yes, I did say the Flynn wanted to be a hero. But he didn't just want to be a hero. He believed that one should be a hero and help others. That is why he always chose careers that would help other people. Yes, TJ ran in and saved Kat from a bunch of foot soldiers and a burning truck and rushed in to help both of them. Flynn went back for a group of survivors in the middle of a robot apocalypse when no one else would after he had already arrived in Corinth, telling his father, "It's just who I am." It might be second nature for TJ, but for Flynn, it's a life.

TJ doesnt have to think about it because its not a life for him. Its what he does, it is WHO he is. He never sought to be a hero he just is.

While TJ is a little better at it,thats like saying one cop is better then another cause he was born a hero.Being a hero isn't in the blood,it's about what you do and what you're willing to do to prove you are a hero.It's how far you'll go to prove it,and how much you'll do.And to me TJ just did much more then Flynn.

Sure Flynn was a firefighter/policeman,and he proved himself there,but TJ saved lives without the special training.He was willing to and did show that he is a hero,even without powers or training.

I forgot about that completely. A very boss move.

He was like the ultimate 1st officer as a Space Ranger and never really seemed to have an ego but was a strong leader when needed. He makes a great right hand and someone you can count on to shoot straight with you or get you on the right path if you aren't thinking clearly.

A hero is not strictly one who saves lives. A hero is someone who does the right thing even when no one supports them. As a child, Flynn tried to stop bullies, even though no one supported or appreciated him for it. TJ is a good Ranger, but Flynn took his duties one step ahead of him.

This tournament has gotten DEEP.

Wait till Tommy vs Ziggy.

Dude, anything can happen on this site. We had a scientific debate on Wizard kicking Phoenix into the Sun a little while after the episode aired. A scientific debate about something that happened in a show about a wizard.

In what world, in what alternate reality, in what fevered dream, does TJ beat Flynn? Flynn has mechanical expertise, he has battle experience, he has the know-how to use them both together. Flynn brings so much more to the table. TJ? He what? Flew a sentient car into a giant robot without even a goodbye wave as he leapt for safety. Wow.

Flynn wins this. He just does.

And! TJ wasn't even good enough to stay a Red Ranger! He got replaced the instant they took to space. Not to mention he only got the damn job because he happened to be standing there when Tommy rolled the car!

Lightning Cruiser was never destroyed.

Just because you don't like TJ doesn't make him inferior. It just makes you biased as you're unwilling to rewatch either of his seasons to confirm anything he's done.
