Rumor: Naomi Takebe to Produce the Next Rider Series?
 

With Kamen Rider Wizard winding down, rumors of the next Rider series is already beginning to circulate.

Be prepared to ingest some salt with this news posting, but rumor has it that Naomi Takebe will be producing the next Rider series, however much of next year's series still remains a mystery.

Naomi is certainly no stranger to Kamen Rider, having previously been the producer for Kamen Rider OOO as well as last year's Tokumei Sentai Gobusters.

Hrmm... this holds a lot of promise.

One can assume the tone this series is going to take as a result of her direction. I liked OOO's, somewhat, but i feel Rider should get a bit more serious. Here's hoping she decides on a new direction this time around.

If that's the case then I think her work on Go-Busters will certainly adapt well to a new rider series. I know it wasn't terribly dark but the show had so really great dark moments in it. Kamen Rider needs to get away from the overly wacky and goofy and get back to some of it's more serious roots.

Yeah, You can kinda tell that they wanna go back to the darker serious routes with Wizard.

To be fair, the final ten or so episodes of OOO got pretty damn dark. If the next Rider series goes that direction, I definitely welcome it.

I agree OOO did get darker towards the end, but after Fourze, anything is serious. Or at least from what ive seen

I dug OOO. It had a nice mix of serious and silly. What I am surprised at is the fact that Bandai is letting anyone associated with Go-Buster have a second chance. That series was a disaster in terms of ratings and merch sales.

Is Go-Busters really that bad? Ive only seen a few episodes but is it really that bad? :lol

No. It's great.

No, its amazing. It just didn't garner great ratings from Japan, which has more to do with the fact that Sentai ratings have being in decline for years and less to do with the quality of the show.
And the toy sales suffered mostly from it not having a collectable gimmick, which every Rider and Sentai show for the last couple of years has had.

But from what I hear, the toys actually sold pretty well.

It's not bad, per se, but... boring. Not much really happens, as is evident by the three endings.

The show sucks, but then again I only watched half of the episodes so my judgement may be clouded.

There's a group of fans that say Go-Busters is underappreciated, and there are very few who probably flat-out hate the series. I think most people are indifferent towards it, which to me means it's a failure. I didn't care about any of the characters, and watching the series felt like a chore. News of the producer being given a second chance is great for her career, but I'm not interested unless the promotional material REEEEEEALLY grabs my interest by the eyeball stalks.

Sometimes a totally, unrelentingly goofy show is just as bad as an all serious all violent one.

If they can strike a nice balance between serious and silly again like in OOO, then bring it. OOO was GREAT. I loved W, but OOO was even more spectacular.

Hell yea! I love OOO and since they are rereleasin the driver in the fall, its perfect! :lol

Thatd be awesome, maybe actually play on whatever you call what him and hina had in the show, and id love to see ankh come back. I dont think there was any character i hated from that series, except maybe maki.

I hope this is true, loved both shows and it would give me some confidence in the next Rider series if she's on board.

But yeah, I hope this captures the same tone as OOO. I just hope we get someone as great in-suit as we did in OOO.

My vote is still with Kamen Rider Break(dance). if it can have the same amount of fun that OOO has then no matter what theme, style, or gimmic i will watch. it will just be kamen rider break(dance) to go with the dance theme of Kyoryuger.

I agree wholeheartedly! Right now it seems like there are very few differences between KR and Sentai when looking at the previous year. I never gave Wizard a chance because i didnt like the belt effects and attacks period so ill admit im ignorant of the current tones of KR. I simply hope that the next series will capture my interest.

And ill admit i watched all of W, OOO, and even Scooby Doo, i mean Fourze(The affection i had for that series was by association. I kept referring to them as the scoobie gang.) but ive had enough of silly, its time we had a serious tone with very few silly undertones.

Works for me. Go-Busters was fantastic and OOO was enjoyable.

I don't really want Toku to be grimdark but there is an inherent goofiness in its nature that it cannot avoid, but if it just plays it all as a goofball comedy there is nothing to get engaged and invested in. You need stakes, tension ad failure to make the show interesting.

Obviously I love a certain sense of wacky and goofy, Den-O and all. But dark overtones can do so much for a rider show. Sentai's have to focus on teams of 5 or more people. Whereas a rider show can primarily focus on the triumphs and struggles of one hero and then a secondary rider. The supporting cast is there but there isn't as much focus on them. That allows for a far more dynamic story to be told.

Riders need to be dynamic again. And a little bit more serious too. As much as I love these things, no more doughnut trucks, or underpants, or goofy high school kids, etc. Let's just tell a good story without all that extra stuff for comedic effect.

Not sure what to think. OOO was pretty good despite having average episodes in the teens, but Go-Busters was down right dreadful, even worse than Goseiger.

EDIT: Wait, she did Den-O too? Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I do agree Den-O. As great as Wizard and Fourze are, I want KR to go back down the road of the likes of Ryuki, Blade, and Kiva.
