Oh boy. Geki Christmas episode. I'm so excited to watch it...

I loved the Christmas episode, or, as I described it in the regular Sentai thread: the episode where Ken kidnaps a foreign child and forces him to celebrate Christmas. With crossdressing. :lol
Also, Christmas Mele is random but hot. |

But I will not defend that Christmas episode. The only way it's enjoyable is through how outrageously inane it is :lol Honestly, the only thing that kept me from watching more of Geki last week was that the Chrismas episode was next, and the only thing keeping me from skipping it is that crucial plot developments can still occur during these breather episodes (Something Kamen Rider is also guilty of). |

And that episode is not fun stupid. It's just stupid stupid. I don't normally outright hate specific episodes, but I really hate this one :o |

You see, I described the Christmas episode to a friend. I'll let you imagine what happened afterward.
I like Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger, although I think Samurai Sentai Shinkenger is better. The Christmas episode is probably the reason Gekiranger is not on par with Shinkenger in my eyes. It's one thing to kidnap the English-speaking son of a Korean diplomat. It's another to force him to celebrate Christmas. But dressing up as the boy's dead mother in an effort to cheer him up and get him to celebrate Christmas... what the deuce were you thinking, Ken‽ |
Here we go, all the pieces on the board, for the battle for all the marbles. The end to one of the greatest Sentai is coming up, and more than a few hot manly tears will be shed.

With Den-O's hatred of Gekiranger Christmas, sounds like we got a Carl of our own on this thread. :lol

Fell behind a bit, caught up now though.
Geki christmas was pretty dumb, Although I admire Ken for trying and the final gesture was pretty touching/awesome... the rest was dumb. And you know how you guys feel when you hear an american in a Japanese show and it sounds weird? Yeah, we have that whenever a british/english actor pops up in an American show, 9 times out of 10 it just sounds odd. The two parter on the other hand was awesome. I like how it was paced so that it was a two parter but didn't particularly end on a cliffhanger. strange I know, but I just dug it. |
I was watching the Christmas episode and I was all "This isn't that bad. I wonder what those guys are talking about." Then Ken came down stairs in the dead mother's cloths. Then it all made sense. I also love that Ken goes on this long heart felt speech about how he lost his mother too, but the kid doesn't know Japanese! What is the point?
But then Christmas Mele showed up...and Mele makes everything better. |

I'm guessing the whole point of Ken and Carl not being able to understand each other was to show that the Christmas spirit can conquer the language barrier?I dunno, the episode was enjoyably bad and Mele was in a Mrs.Claus outfit so I can't complain.
But DAT 2-parter.Jan's final moments with his dad were really touching and he even got a nod of approval from Kenji Ohba's ghost.I can also see why Nobuo recommended Jan and Rio's destined battle,SO GOOD.Seeing the two actors fight hand to hand like that was amazing. Kinda sad that Gou's training was for nothing. He took out that one guy and was immediately beaten by Rio.Hopefully it gets to be used again in these last couple of eps. So pumped for next week. Can't wait to plow through the final 4. |

Episode 44 and 45 are awesome.
Stuff like those were why I love Gekiranger. Oh man, I seriously want to watch 46-49. Argh. So much awesome! Rio is cool with a creepy grin, too. |
Don't forget than even after we finish the series we still have the epicly awesome Gekiranger Vs. Go-Onger coming up in 2 weeks!

So much good stuff in this trio of episodes. The christmas episode was kinda eh, but it shows Ken has a lot of heart. And Pyon eventually giving in and becoming Rudolph was amusing. Then onto two of the best episodes of the whole series. Jan confronting Suguu and breaking through to his father's soul, ending with the tearjerking moment when he has to kill him. Gou learning the Tenchi Tenpen Da in hopes to defeat Rio on behalf of their friendship. The fated battle between Jan and Rio hitting it's boiling point and exploding into one of the greatest fights in the entire series, no, entire franchise I dare say. And Long's ambition is finally coming to the surface, but I'l save more for the bombshell that is episode 46.
Two side notes, I really liked Suguu's fighting style. Truly a Chimera Fist if he can use practically any technique. Also we meet Braco's brother Kou. While he has ambition like his old brother and put up a pretty good fight, it was kinda sad he went down rather easily. Though as Gou shows when he defeats Gouya(or whatever the pig sound dude was called) in one hit, the Gekirangers have grown more since the intitial appearance of the Genjyuken users even if they haven't done a lot of training. "COME ON, KISS ME!" :lolol |
