Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Pink Division Round 5
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

Red Ranger: Carter Grayson
Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman
Blue Ranger: TJ Johnson

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Okay, so in spite of the fact that you guys all voted wrong last round, we'll be moving on to our next match. This time we're matching up an earth-bound Ranger with a warrior from a lost galaxy.

Uh, a White Ranger who happens to be Filipino. Just like how I happen to be a user on this website who happens to be Filipino.

Ouch. This is hard for me to pick because I love them both. Karone really fought to redeem herself plus she can be surprisingly cute (Galaxta Beasts, come here!)

On the other hand Alyssa is helpful and patience. I mean anybody that can keep their cool against both Cole the Jungle Manchild AND Zen-Aku is a worthy contender to being Ultimate Pink.

I'll cast my vote for Alyssa because as a Turtles fan I can't allow Karone to harm them again. She'll always be one of my favorites but you don't hurt the Turtles like that.

It was an odd one, I'll give you that. It's mostly about the idea of taking a non-white actress and making her the White Ranger - kind of the opposite of the Zack/Trini thing.

I don't know, it struck me as interesting.

I didn't get a lot of sleep last night.

I have no opinion regarding these two (I've never watched any of their series). As such, I went with Alyssa because it would cause confusion and delay.

Also, here's something I don't understand: if making an African-American the Black Ranger, an Asian the Yellow Ranger, and/or a Native American a Red Ranger is considered racist, why is making a Caucasian the White Ranger totally fine?

I think Switchblade might be referencing the Spanish colonization of the Phillipines, but that just raises further questions.

Edit: And now it seems Switchblade was referencing an inversion of the MMPR accidental racism. But then that raises questions concerning where Jeffrey "Trent, the White Dino Thunder Ranger and frequent Tommy Oliver voice double" Parazzo fits into that.


Karone had more combat training. Plus she has the "Heel Face Turn followed up by Road to Redemption" thing.
I'm going with the Not-human/Not-alien.

This is a tough one. Karone was a very tough fighter, and as somebody mentioned, she used to be evil and a villain. She would be like the FBI profiler for the team in being able to think like the opposition.

Alyssa is fairly tough as well. She's a kind spirit, and would be willing to help anybody.

I gotta go with Karone. I just think she'd have the better advantage and skill for the team tactically, and in the battlefield.

Actually, it'd be more of an aversion then an inversion. And I really do hope that is what Switchblade had intended.

Alyssa's weapon of choice is a baton.
She has a sword holstered at her side at all times, because she'd rather fight with the baton.
She has claws on the end of her gloves, yet she chooses to hit the monsters with a baton.

Anyway, I think Alyssa would win because… eye of the tiger.

Have I mentioned how I have watched any of the series these Rangers have appeared in? Because I haven't.

Frankly, I'm surprised that I'm the only one who has thought about the effectiveness of a rubber chicken as a weapon..

Think about it; if you just repeatedly wack an enemy with a rubber chicken until tey submit, there is no way they'd dare face their higher-ups after the humiliation of being defeated by a rubber chicken, causing them to commit an honorable suicide (or embark upon a vengeful quest to destroy you).

No, I'll talk about race anytime I want. The Indie 500 was awesome!

Anyway, I went with Alyssa, because I've actually seen Wild Force.

And this is why I'm voting for Karone.

I remember nothing about either of them. And as we know neither of these are going to win, I'll just go for Karone cause she is hotter.

Karone is a mover and shaker, someone who gets stuff done, plus she has the aforementioned (by me) Lights Of Orion enhancement. Alyssa was resourceful and clever, and played well with others, but in this case I give the edge to Karone.

Plus, "Galactabeasts, Over Here!" is the greatest battlecry of all time. :D
