Bluefin Tamashii Hints at Future Power Rangers SH Figuarts, and more!
1 Attachment(s)
With San Diego Comic Con right around the corner, and Bluefin Tamashii teasing the Power Rangers fan community with a slew of "hints" regarding the "Power Ranger/Sentai themed" exclusive for this year's convention, they took to Twitter last night to answer a host of other questions, and in the process, revealed quite a bit of information that may have been lost in that of social media. Luckily, TokuNation.com has you covered.
Here are some snippets below. @yourfriendlyandy: WANT (and the 3 others yet to come)!!! Damn you @TamashiiNations for ruining my bank account! #MMPR (image was of the 4 MMPR SH Figuarts) TamashiiNations: @yourfriendandy 3 more eh? Our count says more than 3 for #mmpr #powerrangers @ZeltraxMilleniu: Heck Yeah. I do have a question for the MMPR figuarts: Will the power weapons be able to combine? TamashiiNations: Currently not authorized to answer ;) The above conversation was meant to say that we have yet to see official photos of the upcoming Yellow Ranger, Blue Ranger, and Black Ranger from Power Rangers and Zyuranger. We'll say it's a safe bet (see below) that we'll get a Red Ranger with Dragon Armor to round that upcoming number to 4, but is there a chance we could see a villain like Goldar released as a web exclusive in Japan? Time will tell... Fans have also been curious if the weapons will combine like they did in the show. Speculation is either 1) They do, or 2) They don't but an accessory will be sold later @PwnStar511: Will the Yellow Ranger have a male or female body type? @TamashiiNations: It's a topic of discussion ;) A lot of fans have speculated (and debated) whether the SH Figuarts Zyuranger Tigerranger/Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger should have a female body or a male body. In Zyuranger, the Yellow Ranger was male. In Power Rangers, the Yellow Ranger was female. However there was no change made to the costume (no skirt), so the fans continue their debate ... a male body would be accurate to the costume, but for Power Rangers fans, it would be inaccurate to who played the character. @ptoadstool: Is there any hope for the Gokaiger Figuarts coming over for Super Megaforce? (including the girls?) @TamashiiNations: The answer to this will depend on something yet to be.... In other words, probably yes - we'll end up seeing Gokaiger SH Figuarts hitting US shores in some way, shape, or form in the next year. This is not a confirmation, but an open-ended speculation. @LinearRanger: Any chance of seeing the other Shinkenger, Dekaranger or Gosei Knight SH Figuarts in US releases? @TamashiiNations: Yes! Many have speculated that Gosei Knight would be released as an SDCC exclusive Robo Knight, kind of like how Female ShinkenRed was released as a NYCC exclusive last year. For those who missed out on Shinkenger and Dekaranger releases, this must be good news. @TamashiiNations: Does the PR exclusive have some sort of armor or shield?" No...but THAT one is for something else #sdcc Many people speculated we'd see a Red Ranger with Dragon Armor released at some point. This pretty much confirms it without officially confirming it. Bluefin Tamashii also tweeted about a "pack" of exclusives. Something that comes in a "pack" and that foreshadows a future release of Power Rangers. Let the speculation run rampant! |

Lord Zedd >< Someone ask about ZEDD!
|
The comment about the Dragon Armor Red Ranger not being for SDCC but for something else makes me wonder if it'll be for NYCC instead...
|
...Female Shinken-Red wasn't a NYCC exclusive. Some dealer bought a bunch of them in Japan alongside Joker and sold them touting them as exclusives. It was not Bluefin.

So basically we have nothin in stone, eh, but they did say we might get Gokaiger in US, well i already Green and hope to get at least the rest of the guys soon, but the girls, unless i see them cheap online, ill wait to see if we get em statseside.

Zedd was talked about a bit for Monsterarts at Morphicon as a possibility if there's enough US interest.

Also, here's hoping we see some Zeo and PRiS, since they were the top two in that poll Bluefin did a while back.

Though, SIC would be better for Ol' Zeddy, considering SIC's focus on intricate and unnecessary details that would make the red fleshy body with a chrome exoskeleton and the tubes and his boa constrictor/Z-Staff. Imagine it! |
Knew they'd make a Red Ranger with Dragon Shield figure.
|
I would do so many horrible things for, and to, an SIC Zedd. Perfect line for him.
|
female shinken red like others have said wasnt by bluefin it was sold by a small hobby store called muteki toys and they imported only about 5 or less of her jsut to be sold there was no NYCC label or anything just said it was a NYCC exclusive which really wasnt.

Does anyone else feel that after the MMPR ones do really good that they should just do the rest in order of season for example Zeo then Turbo Etc etc
|
Are there Japanese originals of those in the first place, though?
And is the nostalgia for those seasons as big as MMPR? |

Not the series, the figures.

I love it when these threads turn into people getting butthurt over Power Rangers.
|
Of course you would. You start it half the damn time. :rolleyes
|
Start the butthurt? Haha! Since when?!
|
personally, i think youre all pretty close minded on what you want. MMPR/Sentai or anything else.
Id rather see releases prioritised on anniversary year (10th, 20th etc) so releases actually mean something. I find it hard to give a damn about sentai shows ive never seen so giving me a reason to pay attention to it would be good. |
That is a fair point, I'm not a big MMPR fan but the possibility of a complete team - and one that at least my inner child loves, gives me a reason to buy these, figures I wouldn't have bought otherwise.
|
There could be Grifforzer, maybe, which would be pretty cool. People expecting Lord Zedd are going to be disappointed. There's just no way they'll make an American exclusive villain for a Japanese line. There just wouldn't be enough interest for it, considering nobody in the main target country would care in the slightest, especially when you take into the account that villains sell worse then heroes in both countries. That's only slightly less ridiculous then those expecting a female Tigerranger body. Also, I'd be very surprised by if their "more than 3" thing wasn't just Tyrannoranger using the Dragon Shield.
Anyway, Griffozer can wait. Give us the rest of the Zyurangers, then finish off the core Boukengers, Hurricanegers, Dairangers and especially the Jetman and then start worrying about villains. And give us Rio and Mele too. |
I can't see them trying to make figures for Zero or Turbo as I doubt the market is large enough. As far as the older series go I think PRiS is the next in popularity as it finished off the Zordon era. I don't see them making those figures either, maybe like the red or silver but not the whole team, unless something changes.

Turbo was not popular, but Carranger (which Turbo took footage from) was very popular. The market for Carranger, where the target audience is, is likely up there as a candidate for any hypothetical "Akibaranger Season 3" Figuarts and would probably be a big hit. I like Power Rangers almost as much as I like Super Sentai, but come on, people. These are not Power Ranger figures. |

Anyway, I don't want to delve too far off-topic, I was just pointing out that saying that Carranger Figuarts won't be released because Turbo wasn't popular is incorrect. |
I love that a lot of people are assuming the Super Sentai figuarts are particularly popular in Japan. They're the ones that never "sell out" on preorders, the ones that almost always go on heavy clearance after a few months and the bulk of them are inevitably going to end up as Tamashii web exclusives.
There's no denying that these figures are Super Sentai figures first and foremost but ask yourselves this - which are they going to want to sell more? The ones that do reasonably okay in Japan only or the ones that sell in both Japan and the US? |

I understand that there might be some consideration towards the Bluefin imports, but Orange Ranger's post, which I was replying to, had the bizarre implication that the popularity of the PR seasons are the main decision-maker for the seasons. Which would really make the Gokaiger, Jetman and even Boukenger Figuarts rather strange releases. Zyuranger remains the only time we're we've gotten any evidence that Power Rangers were one of the main deciding factors. Maybe I'm too quick to jump down people's throats, but it still frustrates me when people completely ignore the fact that these are Japanese toys for a Japanese show, which is why I keep away from the PR facebook pages because I want to throttle the posters that sit around asking if the Kibaranger will have a "Tommy" head. |
Bluefin is American, think about the rest of the world, where they buy and what motivates that. Im not a huge sentai fan, but it still drives my purchases.
I would love to see some love shown to the 6th rangers, maybe see some more dekarangers released, im still waiting on the 6th figure to be confirmed. |
Don't for get the zyu figuarts are getting MMPR styled packaging so I think any sentai figuarts that has a PR adaption will have the same treatment
