Tokunation's Summer Gunpla Group Build: High Grade Edition!
 

Welcome to Tokunation's Gunpla first group build! For first group build, everyone pick a kit. Doesn't matter what series or sub series it's from as long as it's classified as an 1/144 High Grade kit!

a few ground rules:

1: The group build will begin June 19 2013 till September 30th 2013.
2: The kit HAS to be new and unbuilt. Take a photo of the kit still unassembled in it's runners with the date that you began the project.
3: Go nuts with it! Personally, I would like to see a lot more customized kits but you're free to do whatever you want with the kit.
4: Limit one entry per person!

I'm in, just need to pick up a kit.

It's gonna be a fun summer,heck a fun build group.I'm glad to see Gundam make it into the forums in one way or another.There's a sad lacking of Gundam related forums,at least not the way Tokunation or TFW is made.

I also really like the time frame.Not only does it give enough time to afford or save money for a kit,but it also gives enough time to paint if need be.Also the God is HGFC.lol

Gonna have to scour the nets for something I can be creative with :D

Debating about turning my G-Xiphos into Gokai Silver.

I think his head design would work well for his bandana that he has going on but then again, I could also turn him into Gokai Blue. Decisions, decisions.

Either way, I plan on making a custom beam trident for him.

I have quite a few unbuilt 1/144 kits, I'll post what I can live without when I get home for those that might need a quick fix.

Would even look good as a Gold Mode Gokai Silver.Just need longer side skirts

He could buy the AMAS Gokai Silver figure and hack the skirt armor off of it for this. That thing is dirt cheap these days.

Does anyone know of a good/cheap MetalGarurumon toy?
I think a fun little custom for Heavy Arms custom I could do would be MetalGarurumon X

It won't have the shoulder mounted beam cannon, but I think the overall design matches up with H-Arms C to not be too much a daunting task for myself.

Okay, just got back from Silver Snail with these two bad boys. The Nataku Gundam and Sandrock Custom from the Gundam Wing series.

For the fun of it I will build them both over the course of the summer, but I'll only post the progress of one. Just not sure which one yet.

Yeah, I knew I had to pounce on the kit when it got reissued. Especially at HLJ's pricing. Another big HMM release I want is good old Iron Kong, cuz, you know, mecha gorillas.

If I had the money,I would totally tell you to hold the Angelo Sauper Use and Guards Type Geara Zulus.

So I just realized that I have the beam trident left over from my Nataku Ryuki custom. Probably going to be giving that to my G-Xiophs if I do end up going with the Gokai Silver idea.

As for making him into gold mode…I might throw some gold trim on him here and there to kinda reference it.

Would it be within build parameters to bash 2 HG's together or should I only be using one?

Anything goes as long as it's 1/144 scale.

Okay, forgot to put in a poly cap while building the leg of the Sandrock Custom and I had to pry it apart... then I lost half of the thigh.

Well, thanks to blastmonkey, I have secured a Master Gundam and Fuuinsaikki :D

You have to be careful with those crystal parts, they tend to be weaker than regular styrene.

Until September? Alright...so at SDCC, I've gotta pick up some kits. But what? I'll proabably do (and Kiryu probably knows what I'm about to say) that custom Adele that I've ben wanting to do, but I kind of want to make a custom Gundam, but I don't know if I can use the 00's head on a SEED or AGE HG. If I were to do that, then I want Strike Freedom's DRAGOONs (not on the Adele though). I don't know, what do you guys think I should do?

It's a fairly universal polycap ball joint for the head connectors with the three series you mentioned.

Alright, thanks. I want is 00's head, and Strike Freedom's DRAGOONs. I want a pointy chest, similar to Strike Freedom or Infinite Justice. I kind of want Destiny's Boomerang shoulder pads, but I'm not sure If those can be incorporated.

Depends on what your base kit is. If you go with one of the the seed kits as the base, the construction of the shoulder and upper arms are similar and share the same polycaps.
