SDCC Exclusive Metallic Power Rangers Super Samurai Figuarts Set
1 Attachment(s)
After posting a teaser picture on their Facebook page last week, Bluefin Tamashii Nations have finally revealed their mystery Power Rangers SDCC SH Figuarts exclusive - a 5 pack of the Samurai Power Rangers (Super Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink and Green) in a special metallic finish.
Fans will know that as of yet none of these figures have been released in the US, with the blue, pink, green and yellow rangers previously being web exclusive releases in Japan. This set will be exclusively available at San Diego Comic Con for the price of $200. In the meantime, check out the full-sized image and discuss after the jump! |
I want this so bad but probably won't be able to afford it since I have no means of attending SDCC. :(
|
I wished they would have put the regular red in there because it would look off having a normal red and the rest in shiny colors.
On the positive, regardless of price, it is going to be cheaper to go with this set than it would be to buy them individually. |
Sweet! I already have gold and hyper red, so this would be amazing. Hopefully it includes the individual weapons and the origami in their animal forms, but I could live without those.

Man, if I weren't going to AX, I'd go with my friends to SDCC and be all over those. Especially since I don't own any Shinkenger Figuarts
|
Surprise Surprise :rolleyes
They do look good in metallic. May have to try and snag one of these sets if possible. |
I'm on the fence about wanting it myself. I like the metallic finishes A LOT, but I'd be really OCD about displaying them with standard red and gold.
That, and I don't even want to think about the price of a con exclusive Figuarts 5-pack. |
ha shinkenger the metallic is a nice touch but price wise i'm betting over 250
|
This is cool, but I can see it will be far to expensive for me to consider at this point. I'd like to have it. But then they'd really only look good with each other. I feel the metallic finish wouldn't blend in well with regular figuarts.

Kickback, hook me up! |
The Facebook post link to in the thread starter says the set will be 200. For a complete set with an exclusive finish and all the accessories, that's a steal.

I think those look awful, I do kinda want them though cause I want a full set of the team
im actually surprised the girls are there though, and wheres gold? |
I just don't know. I have the original Shinkenger Figuarts.
Technically, $200 is a good deal because that is $40 per figure, but you'll have to pay even more to a middle man if you don't go, unless BlueFin finds another way to offer it to fans like Mattel and Hasbro do after the Con. And including Super Red instead of regular is really disappointing, and the metallic costumes are ok, but not really accurate to anything. I think this might be good for people who didn't get the original Shinkenger Figuarts, but what those folks will do without a regular Red, I don't know. |
$200 is a good deal for the con, but the secondary price will be crazy, I'm sure. I know those Super Samurai 4" ended up out of my budget.
I have the normal Shinkenger Figuarts team, which are definitely better looking (and more accurate), so I'm content. I'd be tempted to buy them again for just $200, but I'm sure the aftermarket will keep the originals being the best choice for me. |

Edit: Oh, and before I forget, nice precedent is being set here. 4 TWEs are getting a second run with this set. Granted they have shiny paint now, but that's still a reissue. |
Ehhhhhhhh....I don't really see the big deal with them.
|
I think I got Gold, Blue, Pink and Yellow for about $200-220 inc shipping and then about $20 each for ShinkenRed and Super ShinkenRed and then $30 for Hyper ShinkenRed, all this year. If you're patient, you can get the full set for an acceptable price and I think they look far better without the needless metallic paint.
|
I'm sold.
Guess I know where I'm standing in line Wednesday night. |

Another Samurai set? Really? Of all the good they could've done... And we get this. Hurrah.

We got the SDCC Bandai of America exclusive run that didn't release the figures at retail ... and this is Bluefin's first run of exclusives to Power Rangers, and as far as I know, the first time they've offered an entire SERIES of figures together in one package, and for a price cheaper than buying them all independently, with all the accessories and a metallic finish on the paint to make them just different enough to be considered exclusive. What GOOD could they have done? They can only release things that have already been released. And they wanted a Power Rangers focus. That leaves us ... what, Samurai, SPD Red, Geen, Blue, and...? Too early to release "Super Megaforce" stuff, as cool as that would be. Plus with Licensing Expo just ending, you can't release something from a future line before that line is even released at all, especially a month after you reveal it in the first place (yes we knew it was coming but in the world of lawyers and legalaties it was JUST revealed this week). So I'm curious as to what exactly you were hoping for. |

Edit: I even would've taken a mass re-release of the Samurai Figuarts, honestly. But an SDCC Exclusive set I'll never have the chance to own? It's just dissapointing. |

Dammit if they weren't metallic I'd be all over this...Or even if Red wasn't Super Shinken Red. Shinken Gold can fit in well enough, but the regular Shinken Red just won't blend in. This is like the best way to get the other 4 members, which makes it worse.

I just cannot drop $200 down on a single item these days. If I could, I would have bought Genocider. |

And after all the build up as well. |

Not going to lie, this is pretty cool. AND SHINY!

Or physical stuff too. I'm just sayin.... |
The metallic paint is a nice touch and in some ways is truer to the original sentai suits with their shine. However, since the other sentai Figuarts don't come in metallic, I'll still with the regular original releases of these figures. I hope this is a sign that Saban, Bandai, and Bluefin really recognize the popularity of the Figuarts line and bring over more figures.

These are... a complete... PASS!
I want SHF of shinkengers, hell i have Red and Super Red, but I do not in no way have even $100 to drop at one time for a Figuart, let alone $200, considerin I am also focusin on other projects right now, I will just wait on completein shinkenger, plus, when this is released, the normal versions might go down a few bucks :lol |
Metallic...eww.
|
I never got Shinken Yellow and Pink, so WANT!
Although recasting the figures again makes me wonder if the QC issues on Yellow and Pink will be made worse... |
