The Science Of Kamen Rider
I was researching werewolves one day when I suddenly remembered the Kabuto movie. Sure, it did break a few laws of the space-time continuum, but it also re-introduced me to the concept of tachyons. Through this I was able to theorize that OOO's henshin utilized tachyons to do the brunt of the work (hence the projections of the Core Medals).
The purpose of this thread is so that people like (or unlike) me can post their own theories on the science of Kamen Rider, and discuss their plausibility. It can be from any series, it doesn't even have to be Kamen Rider . As long as you have a theory, post it. |
It's magic.

A wise man once told me this: science can even explain magic.
Here's my explanation for Kiva: the "magic" is just a new form of energy that scientists weren't able to discover thanks to Checkmate Four. |

Actually, scratch that; it's a unique compound of elements and amino acids that powers Kiva (hence the "stained-glass" on his cheeks when he transforms). The suit appears because an unseen tachyon pulse is sent around Kiva, opening a rift in the space-time continuum that leads into another reality that contains a substance that, when in contact with an organism with the compound in its body, forms the Kiva armor around them. However, this compound is dangerous to humans in much the same way as chocolate is to dogs. |

I always saw 000's power coming out as condesned energy released into greater energy.
The Coins could be considered batteries. Each one holding an animals condensed energies, or spirit. Which combined, in a specific order, released the energy inside. Long as you have a Henshin to control and harness the energies. Otherwise you end up with a Greeed. (Sorry if I messed that one up Lol) While his emotions controlled the abilites of each form, much like an animal. But with Kamen Rider, and Sentai/Power Rangers, I always saw each of them needing a little magic to transform. For lack of a better word. Except for something like Lightspeed Rescue, which was more tech. |

By the way, I have to take back what I said about other non-Kamen Rider series by order of CookSux. But since the "magic" you refer to, in a Sentai series, it would just be part of the laws of physics, since different realities would potentially have different creations. As for Power Rangers; tachyons. They're able to exceed light-speed, therefore they can cross throughout the multi-verse (or "10th Fabric", as I call it). As such, they'd eventually reach a reality where if an object from the Power Rangers' reality comes into contact with it, they grant it special properties, like the actual powers. |

Okay, Kabuto Rider Henshins.
By the this time, you'll probably begin to think tachyons can do anything. They cannot. They only travel from reality to reality. Anyways, back to the theory. The belt is a perpetual motion machine- it can never lose energy unless it is discharged. A Zecter is just a mobile container of specialized nanobots. Those are the hexagons you see when a Rider henshins. However, the Zecter would be ridiculously heavy if all of the nanobots needed to cover a person from head to toe were contained within. As tachyons have already been established in the series, the Zecters use the extra energy provided by the belt to super-charge their tachyon generators and create an opening for the nanobots to fly out of and cover the user. The same applies with the other Riders. The armor for Masked Form, after Cast Off, is designed to self-destruct on impact, exploding if it's a Worm and imploding if it's anything else (they'd have DNA scanners built in to determine the impact site). Hyper Cast Off utilizes a tachyon charge which opens up a small rift in the space-time continuum, which will cause the Hyper Form armor to encapsulate the regular Rider Form armor. |
I've been having a bad day. So now I'll vent my anger out through science!
Now, I have never watched the actual series for Kuuga. But I have seen Decade, and have researched the character, being the obsessive freak I am. The Arcle is biologically attached to Yuusuke. When he transforms into Kuuga, the Arcle releases a mutagen that temporarily alters Yuusuke's DNA. I can't remember whether it was that of the original Kuuga's or that of the Linto, but that fusion triggers a chemical reaction that causes the Kuuga armor to encase Yuusuke, as well as act as an anabolic steroid and strengthen his muscles. I think Agito would follow a similar concept. I have yet to watch Agito. The Riders of Ryuki utilize the use of tachyons once again. According to String Theory, it is completely pissible, in fact guaranteed, that there is an infinite set of realities that we could potentially see through reflections. As such, the Advent Decks are designed so as to trigger a vision into a reality where the belt floats in a reflective nothingness. The belt is designed so that upon sensing the Advent Deck, it will travel through th 10th String and clasp on to the user. Inserting the Deck will cause a tachyon field to envelope the Rider long enough for a rift in the continuum to envelope the Rider in the Rider armor. |
Nanomachines. That is my explanation for everything ever.

Faiz did a really good job explaining its own science. However, I need to explain some concepts. The Photon Blood is at different concentrations from Rider Gear to Rider Gear. Delta's is the most raw, Psyga and Orga's is the most pure, and the other Gears are in between. When in contact with Orphenoch cells, the Photon Blood creates a chemical reaction that generates the suit's material. The belt is designed to make the material form around the Rider the proper way (with a little help from some nanobots). However, Orphenoch cells are burned in this process. Usually, Orphenochs are able to generate cells fast enough so they don't die. However, humans with Orphenoch cells need more time to regenerate these cells before they die (hence why Masato bit the dust). The purer the Photon Blood, the more Orphenoch cells you need. If you don't have enough Orphenoch cells, the Gear will not work for you. In the case of Delta, however, any kind of cells can be used, so long as they're human-derived (since Orphenochs are evolved humans). Humans are able to generate enough cells at a fast enough rate so that they usually cannot die from using the Gear. (Note how I say "usually.")
P.S. The only reason I don't specify the material created is because it varies between Gears. |
Well out of the Riders I've seen recently.
-Kiva is magic. -IXA (Kiva) seems to be made of; well crafted small machines. I'm not sure how to explain the Henshi part thou. But it seemed like a really weak Rider over all. -OOO's is not magic as classically done, but made with emotions made real? -Birth (OOO) is tech based on magic. -Den-O is stupid. I mean...I think DenO's armor is made up in the same way the Imagin. Which I can't entirely figure out what that is...is it atlertime lines matter or matter from reality warping. But didn't DenO say timetravel isn't time travel, the present is based off people memories...so wouldn't the armor be made of memories? I...I don't know for that one. AH! Kamen Rider W Double! A SciFi hero. Now we can have a converstion about science. The rest is alot of head scathing because most Rider I've seen are base on magic. And magic is 'whatever'. But W I saw is all SciFi. So the way I see it: Earth has a big energy source in the middle that keeps all genetic codes. The Gaia Memories are advanced epi pens able to change the DNA of someone as long as the memory is in the body, useing mined bits of this energy source. I image that there were earlier test subjects would could not change back to human. The Gaia port is a thin machine that allows the user to pull the memory out. The Lost and Double Driver are better Gaia ports and a filter because using Gaia memories was bad for you right? The Double Driver some how had Philp's code in it. |

Now it's time for Blade. I still have to watch it, but, once again, they explain their science quite nicely. And, once again, tachyons. That big, floating card-thing that appears after a card is turned up is an unstable tachyon field; that's why it is able to block attacks. The Rouse Cards are like keys, determining which tachyon field to activate. Each tachyon field fuses the user with a different set of Undead DNA, or which set of Undead DNA. Passing through the field warps the user into a reality in which the Rider armor is set up on them. This process seems to take seconds due to the special properties of tachyon particles.

As I promised on the "Introduce the person above you thread", a more detailed explanation of Kamen Rider Wizard and his seemingly magical abilities.
The WizarDriver is merely a doorman to specialized universes in the omniverse (yes, it's a real term- just google it) that react differently to particles from our universe. The Rings are the keys to these universes, the Driver reacting accordingly to each Ring. Some of these universes needed contact within them to maintain the ability (e.g. the Big Ring- as long as some of Haruto's particles are in that universe, almost any particle that Haruto passed through that universe will remain enlarged). Others (e.g. sleep) remain permanent until Haruto undos the effect, most probably by going through a "cleansing" portal. The subconscious world Haruto enters with the Engage Ring is merely an alternate reality, with events in that reality correlating with the events in the victim's psyche. Haruto's henshin works in the same way as his "magic"- passing through the appropriate field turns him into his Rider form. |
Double's is made of data downloaded into a suit of armour. The Memory Phillip has/is contains blueprins/data on everything on Earth, which includes Kamen Riders. The Gaia Memories downlaod the data into a corrupted version of the suit, and it physically forms around Shotaro. The process also downloads Phillips mind along with the data.
|
Decade use Data Cards due to the fact each card he use has specific data on the card to allow him to change to the rider and allows him to travel though different universe or worlds
|
Surprising they never thought to do a Nanotech Kamen Rider yet. Where the entire suit is contained within the Driver. Activates, and millions of little machines create the suit and weapons. Different Nanobots, different suits.
And it could work irl, given time. Nanotech does exist. |
I recently came up with a mini theory. Borrowing the concept of the Morphing Grip form Power Rangers, I came up with the idea of the Rider Grid. It is a energy grid connecting ever Riders powers, and allows for a sort of equilibrium when Riders combine their powers. One example is in Climax Deka. It makes little sense for Castle Doran to be able to channel the energy from DenLiner and ZeroLiner. Castle Doran is an ancient, monstrous being. The Liners are vehicles that channel energies that alter time and space. But if the Grid exists, then it would equalize the frequencies of the two until they equalized and allowed them to perform an insanely powerful attack!

The original Kamen Rider were the results of genetic testing and cross specie gene splicing

And nanotechnology is nowhere near that kind of thing yet. The more pragmatic option (if you can even think to call it that) would be something like Isaac Clarke's Advanced Suit or Iron Man's Mk V, where the armor kinda folds out over the limbs from a large pack. Even then, it'd be a really darn slow transformation to assure it wasn't pinching any skin or tearing out your hair. |

Pains me. But the one I don't see happening is something like Fourze. Weapons appearing from a switch? Even OOO I don't see ever happening. Something like Kabuto, or The First though I do. We already do gene-manipulation. Wouldn't take much to make a Rider 1. |
Quote:
And I can get where you're coming from with the weapons. Space magic isn't the best excuse ever. Birth though, probably handled weapons in the most realistic way Kamen Rider will bother to do weapons. And Kabuto's weapons appeared in the same style that OOO's did. Out of thin air. |

I see your point to about MKV. One wrong twitch and you lose a finger or so much worse. I think Kabuto is a way around that, soon as we figure out the nanotech. |
Some really interesting theories here. I'm never one a fan of using science to explain Toku because no matter what, there's always something that is wrong enough to ruin suspension of disbelief. It's like how Star Trek fans often wage war in interpreting what is scientifically accurate while struggling to explain away scientifically problematic stuff.
But well, my science sucks so perhaps I'm biased that way. :lol |
