The Kyoryu Violet Rumor Mill
 

Apparently some new info has begun circulating about the soon to be revealed 9th Kyoryuger, Kyoryu Violet! According to information via AlphaHeroShock Kyoryu Violet's actor will be none other than Shigeru Chiba! If you don't know already Mr. Chiba is not only the narrator of the series but also the voice of the Gaburevolver itself!

According to the info provided his character will Doctor Ulshade, the first person of the modern age to be a Kyoryuger! Also, he's alive, meaning he won't be a Spirit Ranger like Ramirez and Tesai. Actually Doctor Ulshade is also the man who created the Gaburevolvers explaining why the Spirit Rangers do not use revolvers. It would also seem that he is not a currently active Kyoryuger because he wanted a quiet and peaceful life.

Mr. Chibas' tweets from a couple weeks ago, those pertaining to him filming a henshin scene, would certainly indicate that this rumor is true.

That's a pretty cool choice for a Kyoryuger and certainly explains the voice, which I like.

But the good comes with the bad. Another male Kyoryuger. I personally doubt that the Brachiosaurus will be female, so that's 10 male and 1 female.

I was kinda hoping to get a Female spirit Ranger. But it is what it is...

I was Hoping by now to have a proper 7th member that is Female just like in Go-onger with Go-on Silver cause it feels really lacking a annother supporting female that could explain some of the reason the rating arnt going up

Considering the initial artwork of the Brachio combiner puts a giant bra over Kyoryuzin, maybe the last Ranger IS female. :P

As much as i want to see the new mecha, im keen to see a seventh permanent member. I suppose by the time bragigas enters the show it wouldn't be too late for a new cast member, we're still far from half way so plenty of time. Does worry me that we're not half way and theres only one zyudenryu left to be unveiled. Hopefully red will still get an extra mecha

I hope he's all quiet and humble in civilian form but as soon as he rangers-up, he screams at the top of his lungs and gives King a run for his money in the enthusiastic nutter stakes :D

Does every thread about Kyoryuger have to have people whining about complaining about gender, color, and their expectations not being met exactly as they want them to be?

Actually yeah. When the ratio is 10 men to one woman I think that warrants quite a bit of whining. It's ridiculous actually that when Toei decided to make the "strongest, most powerful, fun sentai" they could after Go-buster that they specifically said that if there were more women the team would be perceived as weaker. So pink, being the only "traditionally female" color gets to be female, but every one else is male to keep up the image of super strong. It's pretty sad.

This further supports my theory that Kyoryu Violet will be the team's "Sixth" ranger.

I am curious to see how the Power Rangers adaptation will handle the sex imbalance... actually, no, I'm not—Jonathan Tzachor has now convinced me that he can do almost nothing good with Power Rangers anymore.

Initial? That was just a possible mock-up idea based on what was heard. Granted it's been right in the past, but it's also been wrong too.

But this is crazy. It's a boy's show. Sentai has so often had one girl on teams.. This is ridiculous. Should we complain about the male to female ratio on the Ninja Turtles next?

1. Boy brand or not, that doesn't make that ludicrous statement of females being weaker any better.

2. Just because it was done before doesn't make it better.

3. That TMNT bit makes no fucking sense since this is not TMNT and the last time we had a girl turtle it was horrifying because it was a turtle. And TMNT has plenty of female characters.

1. You're overreacting over a loosely translated statement asking why there was no yellow that could be taken in many ways in Japanese, that you read in English.

2. Everyone seems super outraged because of a ratio. There was no complaining during Go-Busters, there was no complaining during Go-Onger, but before we even knew we were getting more than six rangers people were up in arms.

3. So is this about the number of Rangers, or the number of female characters in general? Also, your justification as to why we can't compare to TMNT (and I assume any other team based television show or movie) makes no sense either. What about The Avengers? The girls were cool there, but were people going "Oh! This movie is sexist because there's only one girl on the team out of the six of them!!!!"?

Also, being upset over a statement saying that a team would be viewed as weak because it has too many females is not overreacting. It's called legitmate reaction to blatant sexism.

Go-Onger had two girls. And yet again, I don't really give rat's ass what it was like back then. I'd like to think we're progressing with time, not regressing. Whatever series did or did not have a certain amount of girls means little compared to Kyoryuger that has TEN males to ONE female.

It's not even like people wanting a half-and-half, just two or even three girls so 50% of the world's gender in this show about a global force of superheroes isn't represented by one individual in a token female colour.

You see, the reason your comparrisons don't make sense is because those other teams origins are what determin the genders of the characters. You're bringing up teams created under COMPLETLEY different circumstances.

The Avengers are a group individuals with their own histories who existed before they were a team. You cna't make Thor as girl because that goes against his history. The Ninja Turtles are all guys because, back in their original comics, the gag was how generic and cookie-cutter "gritty" heroes were. Hence why all the turtles looked identical, thus needed to all be dudes. (and by extension parodying the same problem here of how few new female heroes there were back then)

Kyoryuger is an all-new show created in modern times with all new characters. It has no history to abide by. No excuse. You're really grasping.

So progress is how many girls we have on a team? Is the genre progressing when we finally have three males and three females on a team? Are we progressing even more when there are four girls and two guys? I don't get this. It's a boys show. Is Pretty Cure more progressive because they're all girls? Or does the ratio matter there too so we need more guys on there to make things better?

It's really hard to reply to you when what you're saying isn't even a thing.

If you actually bothered to read what I said, you'd see what I mean.

It's very simple. Just have more girls. Just have MORE THAN ONE at the bare bones. One female in a show where the heroes are part of a worldwide effort is bullshit.

Like seriously, look at what you're saying. You're defending, practically advocating, the almost zero woman presence in this show.

I am absolutely not. I'm just saying that it's not really a big deal how many girls are in the show. Frankly, like I said, this show is for little boys. Many more boys are going to be watching this show and they're going to want as many characters as possible that little boys can relate to. That's not going to be girls most of the time.

It's like there's a quota for girls for some people. Kyoryuger is a fantastic show, and frankly, the one female ranger in it is one of the coolest in years. I don't know why people have to be so butt hurt like we have to have X amount of girls for every number of guys. It's stupid. Aren't we supposed to be having fun here? Doesn't seem like it.

I thought of something while watching the new episode of Kyoryuger. I think Matrix brought up the question of how would they handle only one female Ranger when this finally comes to the states. And the answer is right in front of us. They'd handle it like they handled it in the past.

By making one of the male Sentai in the series into a female Ranger for the adaptation. Saban's done it before. Trini, whatever name was in Time Force. Which ones they make female I have no honest idea, but my hope is Gold. Be nice having the first female Sixth.
