When we helped break the news some time ago with a translation from a TOEI interview regarding how Toei was re-shooting the Pirate Sentai Gokaiger "Legendary War" footage to contain US-only heroes, the speculation began across the entire Power Rangers fan community that there was a possibility that we'd get Gokaiger as the 20th Anniversary Season in 2013.

Well, thanks to the on-going casting and information thread both at RangerBoard as well as at RangerCrew, we have the audition role for the male Power Rangers call-backs script.

Why is that important?

Well, for starters it mentions a working title for the 2013 season, as well as giving away what series may be the final one coming for the anniversary season. Curious to find out? Click the story title (or the discuss link) and read the casting spoiler!

MALE RANGER #2 SIDES
EXT. CITY, STREET DAY
RANGER 2 walks along. He’s despondent.
RANGER 2
My Morpher... What am gonna do?!
He reaches the corner of a building and turns right into an older man riding a
bike! They collide and RANGER 2 falls against the building. The older man,
RYAN, gets up and moves to help.
RYAN
Hey, are you okay?
RANGER 2
(embarrassed)
Ah, I’m fine.
Getting up, RANGER 2 sees man’s face and reacts.

RANGER 2
(GASPS) ... Could you be?!
The Red Ranger of the Star Force!
You’re Ryan Jones, right?
RYAN
I am. But how did you know that?
(then back to the issue)
Anyway, are you hurt?
RANGER 2 bounces up. The last thing he wants is to look injured
in front of a Legendary Ranger.
RANGER 2
I’m fine. See? I’m perfectly okay.
RANGER 2 then aggressively does some martial arts stances to “peacock” for
the man.
RANGER 2
After all, I’m the Silver Ranger!
RYAN
Silver Ranger?
RANGER 2
(confidently)
Yes!
RYAN
You’re the kid that just joined the Mega Force?
RANGER 2 proudly.
RANGER 2
One and the same. I’m RANGER Smith!
RANGER 2’s excitement suddenly ends, he remembers his predicament.
RANGER 2
Although... right now... I can’t transform.
RYAN
Why not?

RANGER 2
The aliens took my Morpher.
I can’t believe I let that happen.
RYAN
That is pretty bad, but come on, keep your spirits up.
RANGER 2 appreciates advice.
RANGER 2
I’ve admired you and the other
Legendary Rangers since I was little.
He remembers his calling and fills with pride.
RANGER 2
So, when I got my Morpher, I was so happy. To suddenly be a Power
Ranger. A hero!
(then darkening again)
But...
RYAN
But?
RANGER 2
If I can’t transform... then I’m no longer a hero.
What does that make me?

That could still be anything... STOP TOYING WITH ME!

That is some pretty terrible dialogue right there. Good thing Saban will probably hire completely untrained actors to deliver it. :rolleyes

So...they're gonna have Dairanger in it? 'Kay...

If I read it the way I am, it kind of feels like this:

Star Force = Goseiger
Mega Force = Gokaiger

Almost, ALMOST, feels like they're going an A-Squad B-Squad route like with SPD. Something like the story sets up where the Goseigers have been there protecting the world and then the Legendary War happens, resulting in the need for Gokaigers ... or basically, Star Force gets their asses whooped and Mega Force has to take over.

Total, pure, speculation. But that's half the fun right? Fury Diamond who has some knowledge of the casting/production has hinted that Saban wants to go all out on this next season and put a lot of money/effort in to it ... so that's the fun in speculation.

Final results may vary, haha.

I just hope we get some Veteran actors like Gokaiger did, otherwise it'll be the same Dreck (I hate saying that) that Samurai was.

Those scripts are basically just translated Gokaiger ones. I figure they're still keeping actual plot threads underwraps until they have a cast and make an official annoucement. I'd hate to see them use Dairanger for no good reason other than because Gokaiger did.

I give up. If the next series is Goseiger I'll be pointing and laughing, if it's Gokaiger I'll be cursing you to my grave. And if it's a mix.. I'll be laughing at you, while cursing you. At the same time.

Dairanger, being used as Power Rangers.... Hmm.... They already used the White Ranger and the Zords from Dairanger way back in the 2nd season of MMPR. That makes me think it'll be something more recent. Hopefully Gokaiger. Just explain the unknown-to-American rangers on a team to team basis.

I didn't watch Goseiger, but I don't think a peacock was involved with the series like Dairanger.

that is basically the scene from gokaiger where Gai met Ryu Ranger so if we go by this script this is totally an adaptation of gokaiger

The script is kinda shit. What they're trying to get across is that the character is posturing for his idol, showing off to make himself look better. Being a showoff is what a peacock is all about.

I've been of the opinion that the adaptation we're getting next is Gokaiger for a long time, but I don't think this script is a guarantee that we're getting a Dairanger appearance. It could be and I certainly wouldn't complain, but it could just as easily be a perfect scene from the sentai to use to gauge "Mega Force Silver" as a character and not reflect a scene that will appear in the show for certain. I'm not saying no to Dairanger for sure, just saying that you shouldn't set too many expectations from this one script.

So we still don't know if the new Power Rangers is adapting from Goseiger or Gokaiger right?

Cosidering how Toei said they'd plan on reshooting footage of the Legend War to include only Power Ranger teams and with what I can only assume is a roughly translated script from Gokaiger, I think it's safe to say that Gokaiger will be the 2013 incarnation of Power Rangers, and Goseiger may be skipped.

Ah, I recognize that scene. I wonder if this is the direction they'll be taking.

Where are people getting Dairanger from any of this? I am seeing nothing in here that indicates anything about Dairanger.

The scene is similar* to Gai (Ranger 2, Silver of Mega Force) meeting Ryo (Ryan, Red of Star Force) from Dairanger in that episode of Gokaiger where Gai loses his morpher. That's all there is to it.

*using that word loosely here


Of course it's just an audition script, which are normally mockups, and probably means jack squat.

Holy Shit! Ryan Jones!? They're bringing back Power Rangers legend Ryan F***ing Jones!? From Power Rangers Star Force!? OMG, I'm so excited!!! I hope the other Star Force Rangers make an appearance, like Jodie Cassidy, or Dan Hansen, or maybe even Kyle Wayland! Oh! What if they have King Ba-Star come back from the dead & wreak havoc on Spade town!? It'll just be like episode 43 of Star Force (spoilers) where the Star Force Rangers teamed up with the Jet Force Rangers to defeat the resurrected Emperor Tranzor. Ryan Jones, Ryan F***ing Jones man!

(But seriously this better not turn out to be as disappointing as Decade)

So this is all stuff taken from two fansites, and one that is questionable at best?

Well, to be fair...

RangerCrew went and paid for the actual script dialogue (it was on a website you have to be a paid member for that they use for audition call-backs, forget what it is but I checked out the site). So the script is legit. Fury Diamond and the others have been nearly 100% accurate in everything they've pulled up over the years, so I have all the faith in the world that what they've got coming in is legit.

Also a note...

"Legendary Rangers" was the term that was going to be used to show Dairangers when the writers thought of using some of that footage in Power Rangers. They were going to be described as the "Legendary Rangers" from a long time ago or something to that effect.

Or at least, I think so.

Wasn't it said somewhere that the Dairanger suits were to be used as "Legendary Rangers" in Lost Galaxy or something?

Ehh, personally I still think they should be dropped altogether. I'd rather see them write a story relevant to the history of Power Rangers rather than add brand new teams just because they want to use some Gokaiger footage.

This. I would rather they turn this into another "RPM" than a carbon copy of gokiger.

I'm cool with Mega Force as a name. Time will tell how this all plays out.

I'd be cool with seeing the Dairanger costumes used just to see them all on PR. I don't have this deep connection with Dairanger that some people do, so I don't care if they are used for some secondary element or something.

Sounds like something I may be interested in...

Personally, I think attaching the title "Legendary Rangers" to teams like Dairanger is rather meaningless, because for all intends and purposes they are just new rangers to the kids who are watching them since they don't have any history or backstory in the Power Rangers universe. The only real legends are the MMPR team, because they are the Goranger of PR and carried the same amount of reverence among the rangers fandom.
