I don't like Gobuster-Oh
This occured to me earlier.
I was so gung-ho when we first got snippets of him, and I bought the individual figures as soon as they were released. and I love each individual one, but I realize I find Gobuster-OH severlly underwhelming. it's really blocky, and so far doesn't do much of anything but show up and look at the monsters till they die. and since the look we've gotten of future combination seems to follow the Hurricanger route and automaticlly ditch the Females mecha with every combination I'm finding myself liking the combined form even less. Am I alone here or has anyone else noticed it's been a bit of a let down after how awsome Ace has been. |
I certainly prefer the three individually to the combined mecha that's for sure. I'm glad they've used Go-BusterOh quite sparingly too, it makes for a nice change of pace instead of spamming the latest combo.

I completely agree that the Oh is a let down. They did everything SO very right with the Ace but the OH has no direction. From the lanky blocky arms, the face mask, the huge sticking out shins, and that weird helicopter landing gear/butt booster thing I just get a terrible mishmash feeling. It feels incomplete and I recognize that its probably because the Stag and Beet significantly improve the combo, which im fine with. However it makes the Oh feel like a let down by comparison :(

Yeah, definitely waiting to see the rest of the toys to make my final judgement. I was let down by GokaiOh and the subsequent combos, that's why I sold all my Gokaiger DX toys.

gobuster oh is cool
i like toei 's gobuster -oh |
I still like GoBusterOh, and I even brought all three mechs so they can be combined (still waiting for BC-01, though). I do agree that considering how awesome Ace is, not just as a triple-changer but also the design of the mech, GoBusterOh comes across as a clusterf**k robot that has trouble with mobility. What I think they should do is to give him another final attack to change it up a little, and also explore what happens when things went wrong (like when there's an insufficient amount of Enetron to power up the sword, etc), so GoBusterOh can have some fallacy instead of being predictably invincible every time.

The last one I actually liked enough to buy was MagiKing. |

Hopefully the future mecha make up for it. |

How else were you going to combine Captain CheetahCar, Sargent ApeTruck, and Commander BunnyCoptor? This has happened before though. It's easy to make it look awesome on television, but the toy has to adhere to being a toy, you know? Gosei Ultimate comes to mind. In the show he's big, and awe-inspiring. The toy he's.. a brick, basically. But I don't think it looks bad. I kind of like how they combined them in toy form.
And if you don't like it so much, mail it to me :D |
I guess the toy of GoBusterOh is like marmite; you either love it, or hate it. I personally rather like him, in all his stiff-legged chunky glory! Heheh

The rest is your opinion, and I will depart. |
There's some design cues on Buster-Oh that I actually dig, although the DX Bandai toy does look somewhat... lacklustre from the reviews I've seen. I specifically like the helmet. I think I'd be potentially interested in a super-articulated non-transforming version of both Ace and Oh, depending on how effectively they pull off the aesthetic from the show.

GoBuster-Oh doesn't really do much but recycle stock footage over and over again. His sword doesn't even strike the baddie! They pull the MMPR Season 2 trick by just flipping the camera around. The only new footage used is maybe it turning around from the exploding carcass every once in a while, because even those are reused sometimes.

I haven't been watching GoBuster, but I find it funny that, for a Sentai without a morphing sequence, their mecha fights are stock footage :P

To make an analogy, it's like in Evangelion when they unplug the Evas - there's only so much battery life before they've run out. Odds are the combination uses up a lot of the zords' Enertron reserves, and the power requirements for the combined form are equally high. |

Go-Buster Oh is a bit of a disappointment compared to more mobile Robots E.G: Gokaioh, The Time Robos from Timeranger. I can understand they want a more realistic feeling to the mecha but when you only swing a sword around people are going to be let down. Here's hoping Great Go-Buster Oh moves at least a tad more.
