Bandai's SDCC Exclusive Golden Legacy Morpher with Green & White Power Coins!
 

Bandai has officially revealed a new exclusive for the upcoming San Diego ComicCon: a Legacy Morpher with a golden faceplate, including the Green and White Power Coins!

This is the first time either Green or White Power Coins have been made for American audiences. The Golden Morpher is limited to 1000 releases and will be sold this July 18-21 in San Diego!

Hrmmm... SDCC Exclusive limited to 1000 pieces? Couple of thoughts, really:

1. This is the most idiotic move on BoA's part in recent history. The two most iconic ranger's coins and morpher being exclusive to the convention circuit was something I honestly expected, but at 1000 pieces? That's reaaaaaaaaaally going to make it near impossible to get this thing for non-bullshit prices.

2. ...Unless you're like me, and will most likely now just buy the Faceplates and Coins from SS now...

Why would they limit it to 1000 pieces?!?!?!Everyone since the 90s has wanted a Green Ranger Morpher.At least give people who can't afford to fly out the chance to buy it online.This thing is gonna get scalped SO much harder than the Legacy Morpher. :(

The stock will be spread out. The BoA facebook post said limited quantities each day.

I'm not particularly interested in the item, but bummer for anyone who can't get one. If there's one upside to the exclusivity it's that it's one more way for BoA to test the waters and see just how strong the collector's market for Power Rangers is. If this sells out as lightning-fast as we're thinking, then hopefully that means more cool stuff coming out in the future. New Dragonzord, maybe?

I've got a couple friends that are going to SDCC, gonna see if they can snag one for me.
It would be awesome because I'm meeting JDF on the 10 of August at Chicago comic con, would be the perfect thing to get signed.

Because that's what exclusive and "limited to 1000 pieces" means, right?

It makes the most sense that what's exclusive about this Morpher is the gold plating, and not the "Gold Team" Morpher itself. Great way to get fans to buy the same product (Legacy Morpher) with fewer diecast coins would be to release this without the 24k plating as another TRU exclusive. Probably in time for the holidays.

Well I can't imagine the Green Ranger and White Ranger coins to not come out in mass retail at some point. Like Balten said, they could just as easily release another version of this later on.

At least they got the right Dragon coin this time unlike 20 years ago...

Meh, it looks cool, but pass. I refuse to buy the regular one at $60. This is bound to be even more expensive with only 2 coins.

What he's saying is that it could still come to retailers IF they do something to differentiate it, like paint it a shiny gold instead of gold plate it.

I can understand the shitstorm this must be causing among fans right now. A lot of folks wanted the coins, having the morpher too is even better. If the regular morpher was any indication, folks will want to own this one too.

And if BofA doesn't make one for mass retail, someone with the capabilities will produce their own coins and plate for fans to buy and swap out.

I never understood business practices like this? Shouldn't the aim to be to sell to as wide an audience as possible? Not cause a frantic panic and then make lots of people very rich off the back of the gaps you left in the market with your product?

I can't physically understand what BoA gets out of this. Even if they charge ridiculous amounts for this, they surely will still make less profit on a thousand up marked units than they would if they made it mass retail and kept the price the same?

Yeah, this sucks. The legacy morphers just showed here so I can probably paint one old for less than this will cost me. I mean, this is the one most fans will want and even if I could get it I wouldn't open it since it's so limited. Really no win here except for people going to Con this year looking to make some money.

I'd prefer them just release a legacy dragonzord and titanus compatible with the legacy megazord.. In my area, every day that a case of the legacy megazord was stocked, it'd sell out the same day.. I believe the fans have proven that we want these things.. Why not make them and release them? I don't understand the logic.

It was like that here till this latest shipment. Tons of Megazords and Morphes at my local TRU for weeks. I do think Dragonzord would sell well.
