DX Engine-Oh Gallery, Celebrate RPM In July!
 

Tokunation is kicking off it's July tribute for Power Rangers 20th Anniversary with none other than Power Rangers RPM! The last Disney era season before Saban brands reacquired the franchise, RPM is a fan favorite series for it's post-apocalypstic setting, tone, and memorable characters.

Today we bring you a DX gallery from RPM's sentai source material Engine Sentai Go-Onger, the DX Engine-Oh! Or as you may know it in the US, the High Octane Megazord! Engine-Oh is composed of 3 sentient vehicles called Engines; Speedor, Buson, and BeaRV! Note that this set only included the Engine Soul for Speedor as the others were included with the DX roleplay weapons released simultaneously. Also note that the US RPM toys are entirely different molds than the Go-Onger releases. RPM DX's were smaller and phased out the electronic Engine Soul gimmick.

I have no idea why I like this Megazord. Everything about it should turn me off. The simplicity, the doofy faces, the weird robot design. I shouldn't like this, but I love it. It's just so stupid it's appealing.

I think Engine-Oh is somewhat of an icon at this point along side Daizyujin and... whatever that thing was that the Gorangers used.

I've only seen the first episode of Go-onger, but even there, Engine-Oh made an impression on me. He's the perfect meka for that goofball crew, which is why it made so little sense on the super-serious RPM. I especially love how silly BeaRV looks when she talks.

I'm not a DX robo collector, but I really dig this design, I need to get the Retrofire.

One of my all-time favorite mecha, from one of my favorite PR seasons (which ironically I just started rewatchin yesterday :p), also one of the few Sentai I have watched a good chunk of. :lol I am so glad I got the GoOn keys earlier in the week. :lol

Whenever I ask myself "Why the hell did K make military vehicles look so goofy?" Then I tell myself "It's probably just her suppressed childhood trying to get out."

I still love the end results of theG-12/RPM Ultrazord. Who doesn't love a good Clusterf*ck Megazord?

Engine-Oh is one of the absolute best core Sentai Robos out there. As the basis for a 12 mecha combo it's fantastically engineered. It may look simple but once you handle it, you'll have nothing but appreciation for it. My G12 is one of the prides of my DX collection so I can't wait to share the whole thing with all of you! :D

If any season of Sentai/MMPR would've workd better as animation it is certainly this. The Mechs/Zords were almost there!

I have always thought EngineOh was designed to look like a anime style Super Robot, so I am right there with you, Sentai!

Which is why I'm surprised they never did a special animated episode, or summer movie, or even net movie. It would've worked so damn well.

Award for simplest transformation? I think this is simpler than Dekaranger Robo as it has only 3 mecha, but at least it is a unique transformation because it's not just a body and 4 limbs.

Handling Engine DaiShogun (who is a repaint/remold of EngineOh) for the first time this weekend, I do appreciate all the extra locking switches the BoJ version has over the BoA one.

What I like about Go-Onger is all the interchangeability. You've got 4 core "Oh"s made up of 3 vehicles each, and then there are the combined modes. Unlike Kyoryuger, the arms are all unique, too, and not just remolds of 2 base bodies.

I like the simplicity of it. It does a very Land Bison kind of gestalt, and I am a very big fan of Land Bison. So it works for me :lol

I don't feel that it's all that simple but my definition of that might be skewed. I really love this thing :lol

And don't even get me started on Dai Shogun. I love that thing. It's a glorious repaint/slight remold of this beauty. Dai Shogun is one of the best movie debut mecha in sentai history! I can't wait to get to that gallery.

Also.. why did it have to be Go-Onger month this month? This is gonna make me want to buy Toripter and Jetras this month so I can finish Engine DaiShogun G12 Black ver. I just spent a lot last month and was hoping to not be tempted to make any major purchases in July.

An anime OVA would be PERFECT for the Go-onger. You could really do all of the over the top stuff which would be possible in the medium. I mean, I'm picturing big animated sound effects during battle and overly expressive meka, like BeaRV with a pulsating vein in her "forehead"... this stuff writes itself, heh.

schlagwerk makes a great point about simplicity. EngineOh's design is very simple, but that is part of the charm. Compared to some of the more involved and busy designs of the era, this one is sort of a throwback to another time. Again with the Super Robot stuff.

Did that glorious thing ever have an American release?

It absolutely does. Just imagine how glorious an anime-styled G-12 would be!

Why did you have to remind me that the only one I still don't have is B&W Gunbir-Oh? :( I still need to find it.

Nope Daishogun never got a US release.

I'm dissapointed he never got one, because it might be a little easier to find. And also happy he never got one because BOA never got the chance to f-it up.

Though I'm pretty sure you'd have a better time getting a Legacy Dragonzord and Legacy Titanus out of BoA than you would trying to find the Micro Zords version of Engine Daishogun.

Daishogun is a glorious set. I'd hate to see how BOA would've screwed it up.

I always figured that was the explanation. And very clever and creative, the whole child genius who was never a child.

How hard is it to find one of these? Like on Mandarake or something?
Probably would've just redecoed the RPM Megazord and moulded the same additions as the original but in flat, cheap feeling BOA plastics.

Engine-Oh shows up regularly on Mandarake for 6000-8000 Yen, but sell fast. The other Go-Onger mecha vary in availability.

Forgot that some people have other Go-Onger mecha for sale in the Sales forum, too.

By making it six inches high and turn into a shield and a spider.

And a motorcycle.

Let it go. Besides, the High Octane Megazord isn't that bad.

It just needs some Reprolabels and some Love.

All the RPM Megazords need Reprolabels and Love.

And it needs a correct paint job, oh and actual engine souls :p

I own BOA one and it not that bad yes the paint need work but it looks nice if you got the chromed version

Well, the Engine Souls didn't do anything in RPM beyond exist. I don't see why they need to be electronic if they didn't house quirky characters.

RPM was so damn awesome.

The RPM Megazord is also the first and only Megazord I have bought since way back in the day, like I think the last I got as a kid was Super Zeo. Ok well I did get the MMPR Megazord that was released a few years ago, but meh.
