Anyone here going to AX?
Anyone here (besides OOO) going to AX this year? I guess they are having a TOku photoshoot on Sat, but I might not get to be there for pictures since I may be stuck in the autographs line at that time.
|
Oh, I'm going to be at a Toku gathering and then do the open voice for an Anime audition :D. If you guys see me there, hit me up :D
|
I wish, but I can't because of SDCC.
|
I would if I could.
|
I couldn't even go to Anime North this year... I am broke.
|
I would, If I lived near CA, or could afford to travel to CA from TN, or wasnt savin for random toku toys to buy, or savin to go to Lex-Con next year.... :lol
|
I will say, I am a little bit disappointed because I submitted the Sentai and Kamen Rider panels I did at NDK last year and they were both rejected. I'm not disappointed because they were rejected, but disappointed because there is not a single Toku panel at all, making me wonder why my stuff was rejected when it was original. Yet, there are like 4 MLP panels there even though that is completely irrelevant to Japan.

I got my autographs from Sabat, Vic, and Inuoe, bought $282 worth of stuff from Bluefin, and then my friend lost my camera charger, so I don't have a real camera for the rest of the weekend. -_- |

Well, I hate to say this, but AX is single handily the second worst convention I have ever been to. The staff is rude, they have no idea what is going on because no one communicates with each other, not a single panel or autograph session has started on time, they are very disorganized, you ask one of them a question and they either give you a completely different answer from the guy before or they just tell you they don't know, etc. It has ruined my enjoyment of this convention as a whole and I doubt anything is going to change tomorrow. I was really looking forward to it and I don't feel I have gotten even half of my money's worth out of it. I should NOT have to line up 3 hours before a panel just to have a chance to maybe getting into it. In fact, they should NOT be letting people line up that early for a panel!!
Anyway, my camera charger was retrieved as someone turned it in to Lost and Found. With that said, here are my pics from today: Day 3: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...202013/Day%203 |
Yup. AnimeExpo has gotten worse and worse. I've been going since the beginning...and the past 3 years have been bad..hell, becuase of my job, we have to go to quite a few "cons". Its gotten too big too quickly. I've never seen it this bad. I'm just glad I don't have to pay for the passes. That would have pissed me off. Same thing happened to wondercon. It was nice when it was in San Fran.
It was even nicer the first year it moved down to Anaheim...but this year's Wondercon was insane. It was just like comic-con all over again. Speaking of comic-con, I keep saying this year will be my last..but I'll keep going as long as the studios can get us the hotel rooms. The day they can't get us our hotel room is the day I stop going. Double edged sword...its nice that the geek world is now "acceptable"...but it kinda shuts out us "real" geeks. :( |
Sorry, not every picture uploaded to the slideshow, so I have fixed that. There are about 15 pics that weren't there last night, including a GokaiRed.

I'm glad to have experienced the convention, I'm glad to have seen LA, but the only time I want to visit LA from now on is when I'm playing a GTA game based in it. |

I know this is no consolation for you but I get really jealous of people who get to go to cons as I'm a poor man in the United Kingdom so when I read that overall the experience kinda sucks and apparently kinda sucks in a lot of conventions I feel less like I am missing out. As selfish as that may or may not come across.

Although I do go to the Doncaster Toy Fair every year, which is basically like a con but without the autographs and costumes. |
I do remember the one time I had the opportunity to go to SDCC, but after doing the math, travel fees, plus registration and ticket price, and a hotel room for all the days would have left me with about $20 to spend :lol
Not even accounting for food. Has nothing to do with what you're discussing, but that made me headbutt a wall in disappointment :p |

Posted in How Is Everyone Today, but here is my day at AX. Only disappointment is that they didn't let me audition for the voice acting auditions cause they went over time :(

Well Day 4 was full of both disappointments and enjoyment. Got some great pictures of the Toku cosplayers during their photoshoot, got to see Ghost in the Shell Arise, along with got most of the autographs I wanted, and got to have a nice talk with one of the managers about how I felt about the management of the con and he pretty much agreed with me "as a non-manager" and said the new owners are dragging the con down year by year to the point that he might not return next year.
With that said, not all of the pictures have uploaded, but here is the slideshow link: Day 4: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...202013/Day%204 OOO, I'll watch your video when I get home tonight and have a good internet connection to actually watch stuff on. |
The Final Day
http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...202013/Day%205 OVerall, despite my frustrations, I am glad to have experienced both LA and AX. In the long run, I did enjoy myself, but for everything good, there was something bad. Not sure if I will ever go back to AX again, and I'm not sure I ever want to go back to LA, but like I said, getting to experience it was fantastic. |
