First Images of SH Figuarts Tyranoranger and Dragon Ranger in MMPR Packaging
 

Check out this first pic of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers packaging of the upcoming USA releases of SH Figuarts Tyrannoranger and Dragonranger from Bluefin Tamashii!

I love the random Black Condor in the middle. I actually think I prefer the packaging for DragonRanger over MMPR Green.

Im not sure what I was expectin, but could it at least have been more than just addin the MMPR logo to the zyuranger box? It also looks like a gap is in the box since the akibaranger parts arent there.

But it is different. Dragonranger is playing the Zyusouken on the JP box. Green Ranger is in an action pose. Also green box vs gold box. And then "Green Ranger" instead of "Dragonranger"

So pretty much the box colors got inverted. Dragon has green with gold insert. And Green has gold with green insert.

I definitely prefer the Zyuranger box over MMPR. I wouldn't say it's my primary reason, but I DO like the color green....lol

Those are pretty cool boxes, nice to see they did indeed drop the Zyuranger names for them.

Okay, that is just sweet.

If the boxes said "TyrannoRanger" and "DragonRanger", rather then the MMPR names, I'd actually prefer these boxes to the Japanese ones. I like that picture of Dragonranger and he can actually get in that pose, unlike the pose he's in on the box of the Japanese version. Weird how the MMPR ones kept the stone detailing around the edges which fits the theme of Zyuranger more then MMPR, while the Zyuranger ones left the detailing on the stones out.

The content, however, I think that the Powerful Ranger suits are an epic accessory and missing out on them is a rip-off, even if you're not an Akibaranger fan (that big ol' blank space to the left of Dragonranger's head is sad), so I'm way, way, way happier with the Japanese releases.

The more I see of these the more my inner child and nostalgia craves them >.< Jason and Zack are two characters I'm actually really enjoying on my MMPR rewatch so maybe I'll wait to see if a black Ranger comes out and contemplate it then.

I couldn't care less about the packaging.. The toys won't be staying in the packaging for very long once I get ahold of them.

As for the missing accessories.. Again, I couldn't care less. Those Japanese only accessories have no meaning to me, as I'm American and watched the American tv show.

I'm excited for these, hopefully green ranger will hit shelves soon.

They do actually look pretty cool in person. I wish I could see the back of the packaging though, but it is covered from a wall of model kits behind it. A very un-crowd friendly wall.

And they are only Power Rangers to me when they do have the Akiba belt and neck.

I don't watch AkibaRanger either, most of the humour was lost on me, beside a base appreciation because I'm not really a Super Sentai fan. That is why I don't care about the minuscule AkibaRanger extas or understand why people get up arms with Bluefin not including them.

Why should he?
If he's a Power Rangers fan he has no obligation to care about Akibaranger.

At least it doesn't look like they just simply slapped a sticker like with the Daizyujin release.

It will be more interesting to see how different the Dairanger Kibaranger box is compared to it's White Ranger box.

To be fair it's probably better value to do that than just buy an effect set, which I feel are woefully overpriced for what they are.

Oh yea, I forgot about that one. :lol It does look cool, but since Im stickin with Zyuranger boxes, they can do whatever they want with em. :lol

True. Ultra-Acts really are Tamashii's kings of included effects as far as I can tell.

It's sad to think that enough effect sets must sell at their current price to keep them priced about the same price as a figure. I dunno who thinks that is a good deal but it's a lot of people.

I like the box, but I am opening my Green Ranger. It'll look nice on display, though!

Eh, not to rain on parades or anything but I'm still glad I got the original release of these. New boxes aren't doing anything for me and there's still those pesky removed accessories. Already have Dragon in hand and Tyranno will be out this month so I'm excited to have both of them this soon :D

You have to be careful if you do this. The impact effects were a first-release bonus packed separately. Bluefin got these too, so they're not super-rare, but it's very easy to encounter people selling off Gaia without the effects or charging a lot extra if the effects are included. On his own, Gaia's worth it too, but you only have six subbed episodes widely available to experience him in English.

Pesky removed accessories for a show most people who will buy these toys have never seen? Silly Akibaranger parts mean less than nothing to me, and being able to actually secure a preorder is all I cared about.

Am I the only one who thinks neither Zyu nor MMPR packaging looks particularly good?

Anyway, still on the fence. I'm still considering buying them (I really have no interest in Akiba stuff because it's inconsequential and I'd never use them), but I dunno. After hearing that Green can't pull off a good flute playing pose is killing my interest.

While i totally understand the want for the extra pieces. I have yet to even bother putting on the flag pieces. I just wanted my damn Tommy figure sooner!

Thanks for the advice. I found a guy selling one for a reasonable price with the effect. The figure looks cool in his own right and will be my default Ultraman as i begin my new journey into the franchise ( outside of Ultraseven..that i saw when i was a kid ) I watched Nexus episode 1 last night ....this is where my plunge down the rabbit hole starts!

I don't really want to start an argument over this with anyone again so don't take this the wrong way. But here's my reasoning, buying the JP release not only means you get more accessories (ones intended to come with the figure), but it's also cheaper thanks to sites like HLJ and Amiami even if you use EMS shipping for one figure, and I get them nearly 2 months sooner. It's kind of a no brainer/win win to me at least.

There is one downside, though, and it's a pretty darn big one. It takes away sales from Bluefin, who really do need that support to continue showing there is a market here.

Yeah, I got DragonRanger because it was cheaper. But I'd have been plenty happy with this. It's nice that the packaging is unique, but eh, they all end up in a pile for me anyways. This article did remind me I forgot to cancel my Amazon preorder though...

I'm all for supporting them when and where I can, trust me. But when it's advantageous to me to get the original release first, I usually will :o

Really if they could work on getting the prices more competitive, then I'd be all in for Bluefin. And with upcoming releases like Abyss and Wizard Infinity being lower than even the MMPR Figuarts, I am hopeful that things are changing.

It's not a matter of prices starting to go down on Bluefin's end, the problem for the price on these lies with Power Rangers specifically. It's why all of the MMPR Figuarts have been in the $40 range instead of the $30 or less of Kamen Riders and others.

Riders used to all be initially in the $40s too. Wizard Flame Style hit a low of $42 during the preorder period, for example.

In general, I'd like them all lower. But yeah, the licensing for Power Rangers probably isn't helping with these particular ones...

Exactly, I was plannin on gettin the US Pink and White. Until I found out I could get the PtetaRanger and KibaRanger release for cost and shippin from CS Toys :lol

Yes, when the exchange rate was worse, but that was a problem experienced by anything Bluefin imported at the time. I'm talking about right now, where there is a marked difference between the Power Rangers Figuarts and their comparable Rider counterparts. The $42.99 MSRP on Green and Red to $29.99 for original Rider 1 or Shocker combatant isn't the result of the same forces in action. One license specifically has added costs in the way compared to the other.
