Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Sixth Division Quarter-finals Round 1
Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.
We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger. The current team consists of: Red Ranger: Carter Grayson Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman Blue Ranger: TJ Johnson Pink Ranger: Jen Scotts Green Ranger: Adam Park http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psb4029f15.jpg The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords. Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded. Now that we’ve got that covered, Let’s Morphing! -+-+-+- ... Sometimes I really hate my random number generator. Some days it gives me really lame match-ups between mediocre Rangers that would never advance against even a B-lister. Sometimes it matches up a wildly popular Ranger and a total loser. And then there are times like this... times when we get a match between A-listers, both of whom could easily end up in the finals if they didn't have to fight each other here. But here they are. Tommy "Green. White. I'm the man with the morpher" Oliver http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps27faf5b7.jpg http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/Tommy_Oliver vs. Eric "It's lunchtime, Q-Rex" Myers http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pse312ab72.jpg http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/Eric_Myers Will the living legend continue his march to the finals? Will Eric show off the true power of the quantum? Which Ranger will reign supreme? Allez Ranger! |
Eric.Like was said in his previous round, just has more training and better skills.More power as well in the form of his Megabattle armor.
Not taking anything away from Tommy,it's just him in the green/white ranger era compared to Eric,Tommy just loses. |
Eric, because I don't want Tommy "Curbstomp" Oliver to go any farther in this.
|
Tommy. No real reason other than i want to see him win this.
|
Eric.
Because I'm not voting for Tommy to spite everyone. |
I'm going with Eric. Both are great fighters, so neither has the edge there. I just think Eric's the better character. Both have the redemption arc thing going on for them, but Tommy's takes place in about five minutes and Eric's is spread across the entire season, taking him from being a cocky jerk to a loyal and trusted, if still kinda cocky, ally and friend.
|
I'm going with Tommy. Because every sixth Ranger will be compared to Tommy. So why not make him the ULTIMATE sixth Ranger?
|
Eric, because Tommy is overrated. Also, "Go Green Ranger" is not a great song. And while I'm at it, the Dragonzord is a bit stupid with its stumpy little arms. Additionally, Switchblade's argument is quite convincing.
|
Tommy, he's been a ranger more times than anyone and at this point practically has a squad of Zords to himself. Dude has too much going for him.
|
Eric.
He kicked ass. Tommy's nice but God fucking dammit WE ALREADY KNOW THAT. |
Oh, here's where things will start to get interesting!
|
Tommy, because A. he got screwed over last round and B. Who else would be perfect to be silver and change into different colored forms then just one color. TOMMY!
|
Well that is my favourite sixth out then, I voted for Eric any way...

Tommy He is one of my all time favourites. Why is eric getting another shot at the vote? he got his shot against Merrick
|
Tommy as the White Ranger was not only the leader, but the most powerful Ranger by a wide margin. As the Green Ranger, yeah, his power ebbed and flowed, but as the White Ranger he was large and in charge, kicking butt and taking names.
Eric cannot compete with Tommy rocking the White Light. |
Eric Meyers. Once again, it is totally not because he and I share the same name.
Absolutely not the reason whatsoever. :p |
You put Eric up against Tommy.. :lol There is Justice in the world.
Buh Bye Eric, Buh Bye. |

As for him being a leader, fine. But it was mostly just him taking ideas from the team (or mostly Billy) and rolling with it.That or asking Saba for advice. Most the other sixth rangers didnt have those perks.Heck, some of them were the advice givers. Like was said earlier in the tournament, power is good but to be ultimate other things have to be taken into account.Sure Tommy was a leader, but was he an ultimate leader,or just someone we all think is cool because he was the first ranger to have extra powers? |

If you want to argue about power, how about ones that are from 3000 years in the future? Every S.P.D round someone said "well, they have future tech so that makes them more powerful/better". No one mentions this with Eric?
And is Tommy really the most competent ranger? During his time he: 1: Lost several sets of powers (one time it was out of his control, but the other times he was team leader). 2: He was brainwashed and controlled by the enemy TWICE. 3. He got himself frozen in amber. (Yes, I understand the behind the scenes reasoning for all of the above but how it played out onscreen makes it canon.) |

When Tommy couldn't get a straight answer out of Dimetria, he kept asking before Alpha 6 told him to change how he asked the question.
He couldn't figure it out and stormed away complaining about how Zordon could always help. That alone summed up Tommy perfectly. He wasn't the leader. He was just a field commander. He was only doing what Zordon told him to do. His plans were to just look at someone smarter (Like Zordon or Billy) and say "Yeah, do that!" He didn't know what he was doing, he was just a walking sword that someone else would point in the direction of where to fight. (Yes, he does become smarter in Dino Thunder, but this is MMPR Tommy we're talking about) Dimetria may have been useless as a mentor, but she did something Zordon didn't. She didn't coddle the rangers. She didn't tell them everything. She helped the rangers grow by teaching them to solve problems on their own, and when Tommy didn't have Zordon and Billy to tell him exactly what they needed to do, you could see Tommy's ability to lead dropping, too. He has the skills, but back in MMPR through Turbo, he sure as hell didn't have the brains. |

And you completely ignored our list of all of Tommy's screw ups, such as losing the powers of tbose teams he led. It might not be his fault directly, but he was the one in charge... |
Yet Eric is losing :lol
I love Switch's number generator, I really does. |

I'm pretty sure the reason why this team isn't MMPR and Andros is because everyone (Like myself) is bitching and moaning to look at the character beyond nostalgia. Put simply, people wanted Tommy. We were able to argue why shouldn't be a Red or Green/Black, but, eventually, the nostalgia caught up, and he'll sweep the Sixth competition. It's like watching a fan vote poll of strongest/best superheroes and seeing Batman as an option. We all know who's gonna win. It's second place who will be more interesting to see. |

Also, villain decay. |
Also doesn't help that one team has, at that point, reached the epitome of their power.
Not even the Immortal Dragon Long could survive 14 Rangers all gunning for him :lol (Technically he did but shut up :lol) |
when tommy's gren ower wer draininge didnt stop cause he might lose pwer during battlhe fought till those powers were gone. sure he got mopey about it at times but when the time came he surrendered his dagger and shield so the others could still use those items. when he went white ranger he came back with a power and a force that we hadnt seen before.

Eric is also quite powerful, but he has no espirit de corps, something Tommy has in spades. This is ostensibly supposed to be a team, and Eric does not and cannot work in a team dynamic where it's not all about him. He's a loner, not a teammate. |

Eric is losing. -leans back munches popcorn- |
Eric for sure. He had all around better training, had the better strategic thinking in battle, and just all around was a better character. He had more development then Tommy did in all honesty. Both started off as bad guys, buy for Tommy it was because of a spell. Once the spell was broken he was back to normal. Eric was the same way for pretty much the whole series. And it wasn't until the end when we got to see his nicer side.
Plus, Eric had powers from the future. Yeah Tommy had what dragon/dinosaur powers, ancient martial arts tiger powers, ninja powers, weird crystal powers, and car powers. So Tommy did have more powers then Eric, Eric's were top notch ones from the future. And while they didn't give him any mystical abilities, they gave him a lot more to add to his already big reputare. Zord wise, I'd say they're about equal in the since of both have alternate forms and can combine with another megazord. But as a whole, it's Eric for me. The better character with the better skills, with the better powers in my opinion. But let's face it, everybody will vote for Tommy just because of the fact he's been a ranger more then everybody else and because of the nostalgia factor. I like the guy, but I just think he's overrated at this point. |
Well, looks like it's time to call this one.
Honestly, if Eric can't dethrone Tommy I doubt anyone can. But I've been wrong before and there are ten other Rangers who are all gunning for the title. |
:D Justice.
