First Official Images for Black & Battle Hopper Renewal Versions
 

Earlier today we brought you reveals of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Black & Battle Hopper Renewal Versions as well as a planned reissue for Shadow Moon. Just as quickly as these were announced 1 official photo each for Black and Battle Hopper have surfaced, as well as pricing info and release dates!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Black (Renewal Ver) will be released in October for 3500 yen.

S.H. Figuarts Battle Hopper (Renewal Ver) will be released in October for 4500.

Both figures will be standard release NOT Tamashii Web Exclusives.

That new Black will be mine, and possibly Shadowmoon as well. Now that renewals have started though, I'm a bit hesitant to go into the Figuarts backlog now, more specifically Agito.

I'd prefer RX, but normal Black is fine.

The rumors floating around well before this week or Anime Expo suggested a renewal version of Black RX as well.

According to that pic,this Black seems so attentive to detail that they even sculpted on the wrinkles on the actual suit's codpiece.Unless this figure is an early prototype they made for the pic. :eyebrow

so Fare the only new thing i can see on black is the belt and the croch pants area being new the rest looks like it from the old mold due to i am looking at my orginal black now

The head has been totally resculpted, the hips are new, the belt, the elbows. They knocked this version out of the park.

Shame he has the "what the fuck are they thinking" hips, but otherwise looks amazing. Battlehopper looks sick wicked aside from the shade of green, but that could just be the pic.

Regardless, this will be the first rider and bike I own.

Those are possibly in fact the new Blade hips, not the same as the pull-down kind you've been decrying.

Cant Tell the Diffrentce with the head apart from the Ateni on it that it and the colour of the compound eyes i gathered the new hips and it looks like they are using Sentai ball joint feet as well

Oh, now there's a question. Since these aren't exclusives do I pre-order or wait, maybe even to see if they show up on Mandarake for less?

You're still crazy to hate them as much as you do :lol, but it's something potentially great for all of us. Blade (possibly, since he's not out) has a fantastic range of movement considering the form of the hips remaining completely intact.

The problem is that the Mandarake route can lead you to waiting a lot longer than some would want.
You'd get the figure you want for below average price, but you might have to wait months at a time to come across it.

I'd personally say score a preorder/order from a site that has low shipping, just to confirm that you get it, even if it costs $5 more than if you found it on Mandarake.

When I worked out how much this was going to set me back, with postage and all that, I started to wonder whether I should just wait as well.

THEY CAN'T SIT! They can't sit or kneel or do anythign that involves a leg moving like a leg should. They can't sit in a chair and anything outside a standing pose looks awful because there's a huge gap.

I feel Charlton Heston at the end of Soylent Green. The hips are made of suck!

Are you talking about Type 1 or Type 2 hips? Type 1: W, Gokaigers, Fourze, etc. Type 2: Kuuga, Agito, Black RX, etc. Your description sounds like Type 1 hips and your complaint with them not being able to sit sounds like Type 2.

Needs more film grain. :p

I decided to test sitting and kneeling poses on Faiz, who has the swing-down hips, using a fold-up chair I got with a Figma.

He can sit perfectly fine. He can kneel as well as he can. If you want a perfect, 100% accurate human kneel, the knee and ankle joints would have to have much deeper range or even a divot in the back of the shins.

IMO, the problem isn't with the hip joints, it's the fact that you're trying to get extremely life-accurate poses out of these things.

But isn't that their whole point 'human movement'?

I think you guys need to remember there's a difference between being able to sit, and being able to sit while looking good.
I can get any toy with knees and a waist joint to sit down. Doesn't mean it won't look like crap.

Anyway, my only problem is whether or not I want to buy the Battlehopper with Black, especially since I've never been super big on the bikes.

Human movement doesn't equate to what the guys in the rubber suits can actually do. I think having as much possible movement as the actual suits isn't entirely bad. It's always been about recreating what can be seen on screen, not the movements of an actual living person, that's nearly impossible.

They're toys. You have to cheat somewhere. That's why they have multiple hands instead of finger joints. Only way to make it work.

Yeah, and they all do it pretty damn well. If you want a full on sit-on-your-ankles kneel though, that's like one of the only poses they can't do. Even figures like Agito who has very little sculpted detail on his legs can't do it.

Your arguement crumbles before Ryuki, who can do all that.

You guys say it's impossible, but then there's figures that do it.

Also I'm pretty sure Black and W and Sieg can all sit down in the show. In fact, one of Sieg's pivitol moments is him sitting on a couch.

I mean, really, you guys are saying "Oh it's not possible for the suit to do that" even though, and I mean this with the utmost respect, that's a laod of hooey. Your entire post is obliterated by the fact that 1. Ryuki can sit down, 2. The characters in the show can sit down, and 3. MOST TOYS WITH ANY ARTICULATION CAN SIT DOWN.

Look at W and Sieg, those two jokers have to akwardly cross their legs. They can't sit in a chair. Ryuki can. Ryuki is the boss of chairs.

Figuarts with those stupid drop-down hips can't move their legs forward without the foot pointing out to the side.

I'm gonna be blunt but I don't really give a damn if my action figures can sit in hypothetical tiny chairs that I don't own.

The fact that they are unable to do a very basic pose is kind of important though considering the hype around the toys.

I'm going to be blunt: that's BS and you know it.

It has nothing to do with sitting in chairs. That's just the easiest way of explaining the problem. The problem is the drop-down hips offer terrible range of motion, and fuck up the sculpt since the legs move outward.

Ryuki can sit, crouch, kneel, get in craz wide-legged stances, run, kick forward, etc. with his hips.

W can do none of that because all those poses require the knee joint to remain facing forward as a knee is supposed to do. The knee can't face forward while the leg is moved forward because the sculpting forces you to swivel the thigh outward. Which wouldn't even be the problem itself were it not for the absence of any swivel above the knee itself.

Think fo it liek this: if Ryuki had the old hip joints, he would not be able to ride the Rideshooter.

Plus there's also the simple fact of the old hips make posing unnatural and stupid, since if I want to move W's leg forward for a particular stance I have to swivel it out and then pull it down before moving forward. Ryuki? I just move the leg forward. No tricks, just a simple, non-moronic joint.

Hell, the simple fact that they phased out the old drop-down hips is evidence that even Bandai saw how dumb they were. Plus, they're ugly as hell. Ryuki looks fine in any pose, but W looks like shit if he's in anything besides a straight-legged pose.

I cannot believe that there are cases in Figuarts, the line touting itself as "the new standard" and that is so popular, so high-end and does so much, that lack fundamental articulation that even other examples in the line have and people are like "it's impossible." Then when said examples are offered for comparrison people then say "yeah well it's not important."

What?

...Every single SHF I have can sit, kneel and look realistic. One important thing to remember is 1) It's a toy, there's going to be limitations until they work out new designs and concepts for articulation, so as such there will never be 100% accuracy on the poses they can pull off, sculpts, etc. 2) The Kamen Rider W Figuarts body is horribly fucking flawed in many ways, and 3) Not every person sits or kneels the same way.

I really think you miiiiiight want to look at the majority of future Figuarts releases to realize just how off base you are. There's no issue with having an opinion, but don't make up facts in order to back up your beliefs. I mean, fuck. I have an irrational hatred of Adele, but you don't see me making fake claims about her being the result of Cher and the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man having a passionate one night stand in the back of a FedEx truck.

On-Topic: I really wasn't that impressed when I first saw the pics while getting ready for work, but now that I've seen that high resolution photo... Goddamn, Bandai. The crotch alone shows a level of dedication that is rarely seen in toy sculpts these days, and I adore it. I'll definately take a look at grabbing this guy in the future, and also a possible Black RX that has been rumored for... I want to say about a month now. I love the Black/RX Suit Designs a lot, but the aftermarket on the Figuarts has been nuts. Glad to see my frugality is paying off, somewhat.

...Now redo Agito, and don't pull that "We've decided to throw all of his accessories into the releases of four other toys" bullshit again.

It's the hypocrisy that ends up getting a rise out of me, more than anything else. The hype machine only allow their points to apply when in their favour and if the table is ever turned they shrug and say 'I don't care' while throwing their toys out of the crib.

Either Figuarts is a show accurate, high end figure line and thus we should expect more than your average Marvel Legends or it is 'just a toy', not show accurate but more a fairly standard figure line which is slightly overpriced but we should forgive the flaws of the limitation of a low to medium range set of figures, you can't just have your cake and eat it and decide when each aspect of the two sides of the coin applies to your argument at the time and then completely disregard the argument you were previously arguing for when it no longer applies to your side of the argument any more,

Kabuto molds do all those things just fine, so the First/Next molds should as well. Gills and Another Agito may too, but I have neither out. That's one of the pitfalls of basing opinions of a toyline on three figures.

I'm also not sure why Double would have such a problem with a kneeling pose, but regrettably I own very few Figuarts right now, and most I do are from the Agito series, the majority of which use the Type 2 non-pulldown hips. I can't recall from personal experience how his legs and hips would prevent a pose, but with the lack of range in the torso, I wouldn't be surprised.

I mean, you guys keep saying shit that just falls apart in the face of evidence. I realise the hips are old and outdated, and I recognise that. What I'm contesting is people who ignore the glaring fucking flaws in that method of design. People who say it's "impossible" to have normal hips, even though Ryuki does, or that being able to move said hips in a logical way isn't important.

But they're not the only ones that use those hips.

I'm not doing that, I'm not saying Figuarts are... fuck I didn't even mention Figuarts overall. I just said the hips are stupid and that peopel saying they aren't are, well, wrong and posted evidence of why they're wrong.

I'm not talking opinions, I'm not talking about what I like. I'm talking about facts. Cold hard "it cannot do that." I mean, are you people just not reading what I'm saying and just guessing what my posts say? I mean, it's actually extremely insulting that you people just assume what I'm saying. I like Figuarts, I plan to get more, I don't give a shit about the line overall. I am just saying those old hips are not effective and I don't want them on future releases. That means nothing more than it says. The simple fact that I recognise flaws on Figuarts does not mean I hate the line. It just means I'm not going to ignore obvious, crippling design flaws in it's older figures.

Your opinion is that the Figuarts pulldown hips are bad. You believe this because you own three Figuarts: Ryuki, Sieg, and Cyclone Joker. I'm not putting words into your mouth or making up shit. I'm not even discounting your claim, but am offering evidence to the contrary, because there is an entire subset of Figuarts you don't own capable of what you have been led to believe they cannot. This has nothing to do with whether or not you hate or want to bash Figuarts or anything else - you're welcome to do or believe that if you so choose. If you feel legitimately harassed for believing as such, let one of us know.

As far as fact is concerned, I would even gladly take pictures for you, but I am watching my two-year-old nephew. Being able to post at all was a chore, which is why the time between my posts was so far apart. I am offering nothing but my own factual observations in return.

Calm down please. If you took offense to my "crazy" remark, it was in jest, and I apologize, but there is otherwise not as much hostility directed to you for your opinion as you seem to believe.
