Shout!Factory Teases Power Rangers Reveal at SDCC - What's In The Box?
 

The always hilarious Black Nerd (@BlackNerdComedy) got to visit the folks at Shout!Factory (the ones who created the Power Rangers DVD box sets) and they video-taped it! But there's something mysterious going on...

While celebrating their 10th Anniversary, they have a box labeled "20th Anniversary" with a lightening bolt. Upon the Black Nerd stealing the box, a light shines out followed by the classic communicator alert from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Let's see... We have the first 7 seasons currently, so perhaps it's a Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force Wild Force and Ninja Storm Box Set?

Or maybe digitally remastered versions of the Power Rangers movies that no one (or at least, very VERY few people) would want.

Interesting. Though I have absolutely no idea what to expect. I've already got the one PR series on DVD that is an absolute must-have for me, so I'm having a hard time imagining it'll be something I'll want to buy. That said I'm still really curious to know what they've got in the works. The use of the communicator sound probably doesn't mean anything, but that alone kind of has me excited...

I'm still guessing that it's a collection of the various Ranger team ups.

I really don't understand why they are letting LGF release the newer stuff. LGF hasn't even released the first season in full yet, but they have the second season. Who the hell wants to own the second season before the first?

Oh yeah, I just hope they don't release a PR MLP crap.

Whatever it turns out to be, I'm really contemplating changing the region on my computers DVD player and to start importing Shout Factory's stuff in. Seeing this thread I looked up what they had released and one thing led into another and I was just overwhelmed by the sheer amount of great stuff the US has on DVD that the UK just doesn't. As far as I know the UK has no plans to release half of this stuff either.

You should be able to change any DVD player to region free, shouldn't you? I've changed a my DVD players to region free, which is how I watch my Shout! DVDs.

Not to mention DVDs are like a quarter of the price in the US compared to AUS/UK, so sometimes its a cheaper option too.

I don't actually own a DVD player, my computer is my TV, DVD player, games console...everything, haha. And as far as I'm aware you can only change the region on computers to a specific one.

Maybe it's sentai subbed in English?

As awesome as that would be, I think we have a better chance of seeing a good Transformers movie adaptation.

Nope, it only gives me countries to choose from.

VLC Media player lets you play any region DVDs regardless what region the drive is set to cause my drive is permenly set to region 1 but when I play region 2 DVD on VLC it works fine

Is it a gold-plated DVD set of every Saban-era season?

That doesn't work on every DVD player ever though does it? Only certain hardware, I guess push comes to shove I get my set and try it through VLC and if it doesn't work I'll make it NTSC.

But I do say google research VLC about that and your DVD Drives

When you search for the name of the DVD drive in my laptop you basically get no results, let alone chaining it with talk of vlc and regions.

On the topic of the subbed versions of sentai, it wouldn't surprise me. These are the people who got us Transformers Headmasters, Choujin Masterforce, and Victory ALL on DVD...so I wouldn't discount it JUST yet.

That would be cool. I also just noticed something one the Equestria Girls designs. They're eyes (save for Fluttershy) are all the same shape, that's lame. I also love how he just took Pinkie. :lol As for what's in the box? I think Matrix's guess is pretty good.
