Wizard Episode 43: "The White Wizard's Secret" Discussion
1. Why Does The Author Know Koyomi? 2. Nitou, Rinko And Mayu Approach The White Wizard's Hideout?! 3. HYPER! Nitou VS Fueki, Round Two! 4. Sphinx Attacks Again! Quickly, Haruto! 5. ALL DRAGON! Wait, What Has Just Been Revealed About Koyomi?... ~DISCUSS, NOW~ |
Beast/White Wizard Round 2 was epic as hell. :)

That twist....
|
I echo the statements said on here and say that what happened was something I wasn't expecting at all. It certainly changes the dynamic of the show a great deal, that's for certain.
|
That was an interesting twist, and I'm curious why Kizaki was still targeted.
...Yep. That's pretty all there was to say. |
So it was a story focused episode...which is what I asked for but I've kinda realised that by this point in the game I've given up caring on Wizard. Wizard lost my emotional investment months ago. So Koyomi's backstory or Section Zero ending up in a coma didn't make interesting viewing for me.
I mean it wasn't a bad episode, the action was a lot of fun, but Wizard is just too slow to be appreciated watching one episode a week. I kinda wanna go back to the beginning and start again when this show finishes, so I can consume four or five episodes in a day like I did when I was playing catchup, it didn't feel nearly so slow then. And was a lot more enjoyable. |
So Hyper final attack < A simple Explosion ring ...

A good, story-driven episode. I kinda knew that there'll be a twist at the end when Haruto visited the realm where Koyomi's memory resides, and I wasn't surprised when it turns out to be White Wizard. That really gives reason to the motivation behind WW's plan to eradicate the Phantoms and possibly why Koyomi was given to Haruto for protection. Anyways I am sure there's no fillers from this point on. |
They really need to name this episodes better. The White Wizard's Secret just sounds wrong on so many levels.

Great episode, though. I kinda suspected the big reveal before it happened, but it's still an interesting twist. I'm assuming that the eclipse ritual is somehow supposed to cure whatever's wrong with Koyomi. Not sure how or why that needs both Wizards and Phantoms, bit the plot is kicking into high gear now and I'm curious to see what happens in the last six or possibly eight episodes (although if the next one is as filler as it looks I'mma be really disappointed). |
Got all excited by the pre-rendered thread. Yeah... No.... that was fail on soooo many levels and the preview shows that the next ep is just filler.

Nice to see the show remember All Dragon Style exists.
And CGI monster battles. I'd kinda forgotten those were a thing. |

And then... THAT TWIST! Didn't see that coming at all. And now we have motivation for our villain. |
Although it looked craptastic, I actually really enjoyed the All Dragon/Underworld fights this week as it gave it a more comicbook superhero sense of scale.

After having some time to mull over what transpired in this episode I have to wonder where Wizard's going from here on out. We lost the asshole who's name escapes me to a soap opera coma and Beast has become a hardcore warrior willing to cross any line to save a person that may have very well crossed a line by the forceful urging of the once thought as infallible White Wizard.
I'm kinda getting the sense that these changes to Beast and the overall supporting cast are a result of Toei trying to make the series more popular. Which worries me as big changes like this don't always work out as planed. In all fairness if a overhaul like this was done early then I would have liked the show more. |
Another duo of excellent episodes. Now we are really talking here. I just wished Wizard would start using some more damn spell combinations though as I am tired of Defend and Bind. And big hand hasn't been used in like 20 episodes.
|
I really liked the design of the Underworld Phantom this week, it reminds me of Bongo Bongo from Ocarina of Time. Other than that I think I'm just going through the motions and watching this show to see how it ends as I'm stubborn like that.

OMG, I said something similar. When we were watching it yesterday, I said, "Hey, it looks like a Zelda boss." |
