Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Sixth Division Quarter-finals Round 5
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

Red Ranger: Carter Grayson
Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman
Blue Ranger: TJ Johnson
Pink Ranger: Jen Scotts
Green Ranger: Adam Park

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Well, the quarter-finals are winding down. We have four Rangers left to go, all from the mid- to late-Saban era. Let's start with the two that probably have the most spurious claims to the Ranger title.

On the brief rewatch of Lost Galaxy that I could stand, I really didn't like Mike. So Phantom by default.

Mike. Simply because he's done more, was stronger, and isn't known purely for being mysterious. All Phantom Ranger did was hand out weapons and get beaten for plot. Mike came back from the DEAD, was one of the bests Sixths/Others of the original Saban Era, and did more in one episode than Phantom did in all of his.

Actually, it could be argued that the machinations of the Phantom Ranger had a rather large impact. Yes, he handed out weapons, but those weapons were pretty crucial for the overall story.

I'm voting for the Phantom just because I know he's gonna lose this round, but considering he appeared in 9 episodes, he had more of an impact than some Pinks, Greens, and even Blues from other series.

And I like Predator.

I don't like either particularly, but Mike did a lot more onscreen so he gets my vote.

Gotta go with Mike on this one. Phantom Ranger is really useful, but in a fight the Magna Defender takes him out post-haste.

Well this is long since over. So.. Is Magna a Sixth or an Other? And not by Gokaiger standards, this isn't Gokaiger. I think it's.. odd. He looks the part of an Other but then morphs, so in my book that makes him a Sixth. Phantom is an Other.

Phantom is a Ranger, not an other. The Blue Centurian was the "Other" of Turbo.
The Phantom Ranger could morph, it was just that he chose to never power down on screen.

I'm counting the Magna Defender as an other, though. I don't really have much reason behind it. It might be the cape *Shrugs*

So does Wild Force having claws on the gloves mean that SPD aren't rangers?
Does Time Force having non-black visors mean Zeo aren't rangers?

Keep the series comparisons to their own series. I don't care what Mystic Force had. They're not the Lost Galaxy characters.

You were saying that Magna Defender was an "other" because he had a cape. Just because one ranger has a different design from the others (White Ranger in MMPR, Phantom Ranger in Turbo, Magna Defender in Lost Galaxy, White Ranger in Dinothunder, Kat Ranger in SPD, White Ranger in Mystic Force, and Robo Knight in Megafail are all examples) doesn't mean that he isn't a ranger.

My classification is much simplier.

Can they Morph? If Yes they are a Sixth, if no they are an Other.

Please, point out what I said, verbatim, that stated Magna Defender wasn't a ranger because he had a cape.

What would you personally consider Hurricanger's Shurikenger, then?
From what I read, his normal form is the ranger form, and the human forms are just disguises.

I'm only talking Power Rangers. Trying to figure out what is what in Sentai just gave me a headache. In Power Rangers Ninja Storm Samurai Ranger would be a Sixth, since he morphed. And quite awesomely too. Aside from the Mircophone sword handle he was great.

She's neither. In Samurai she was the true Red Ranger, Jayden was just the place holder. So she doesn't count as a Sixth or an Other. She was just the Red Ranger.

Antonio was the Sixth.
