Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Sixth Division Finals Round 1
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

Red Ranger: Carter Grayson
Yellow Ranger: Lily Chilman
Blue Ranger: TJ Johnson
Pink Ranger: Jen Scotts
Green Ranger: Adam Park

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

And so here we are at last, the last finals for the last division to prove what really is the ultimate Ranger team. Now you may notice this is "Finals Round 1" instead of the finals. That's because we have three finalists and, instead of running another threeway match, we're going to have an initial round and then the winner of this poll will face the obvious favorite in the grand final.

So, who's going to challenge Tommy?

Came back from the friggen dead

RJ
Had a restaurant
Was pretty powerful

Ranger who came back from the dead is far superior over a ranger with a restaurant.

Goodbye RJ, It was nice knowing ya, still voted for you though!

RJ isn't just "pretty powerful," he was a master of Jungle Fury's made-up martial art - he was able to take on the big bad unmorphed and still hold his own. He was also technically-inclined enough to make the Jungle Fury morphers.

Nothing against Mike,just that RJ is more of a mentor figure,is a master of martial arts,and is the calm,relaxed voice of reason that the team needs.Mike is good,and has made more sacrifices,it's just that RJ is a better fit.

I was going to vote Mike. But then you posted this. RJ led his team, inspired his team, made each individual member better than they were, had a mastery over his Spirit Animal and his Art, and could beat Mike if given the chance.

And as a side note, he ran a restaurant, yes, but it was during a stint of supernatural conflict that he and all but one employee were involved in. And yet, he kept Jungle Karma Pizza running from before the season began to after it ended and all the time in between. And possibly made it a franchise given a Jungle Karma Pizza delivery cart appearing in RPM.

Man's got some wizard business skills. Yes I did just write that.

Not only the cart but there is a JKP in Ziggys focus episode with Fresno Bob.

Why do I feel that this poll is going to be more gripping and interesting than the Grand finals?

Because this wont be just X vs Tommy.

Well if RJ wins he's my boy for the final.

Although I am angry at you RJ for knocking Ryan out, it's actually really depressing Mike has made it this far and Eric was knocked out like ten rounds ago.

So yeah, RJ gets my vote.

If only Kruger was here instead of Mike, although I don't think most of you would have voted for him over RJ.

I've pretty much stopped voting, since it's going like this:
Pro-Tommy: "I'm voting for Tommy because he's Tommy."
Anti-Tommy: "I'm presenting facts for why Tommy loses, but I'm still going to get labeled a hater and everyone's going to think I'm voting against Tommy because he's popular."

It's tedious, but that's how it goes down.

I got labeled the second one when I laid out why Kruger beats Tommy. So I'm with you there.

I don't think I've been labeled a hater, despite the fact that I insulted numerous items in Tommy's power set and various other aspects of his Ranger career.

That's because you're not as loud as me or Matrix :lol

I became fairly disillusioned with this early on, at first it was fun, there were some really interesting match ups and some really great discussions but it seemed the further we progressed the more friendly debates became arguments and further still the once thought out debates became simply a question of 'which character are you a fan of?' I'm not saying I'm exempt of any of this, I've done all of this as much as everyone else, as the whole thing started to collapse in on itself I was sucked right in.

Maybe next time we do this, we should more heavily control the matches, like give the characters specific locations, specific weapons, specific win requirements, specific handicaps and conditions. I know that isn't going to stop the fanboyism or whatever but it at least gives those who aren't particularly invested something to chew on and perhaps think about their vote more, to inspire greater discussion and hopefully make each vote more worthwhile.

This could be especially interesting if we incorporate the impact of different pilots, or different forms.

I find that a bit depressing. To make up for my quietness, I will now type why I think Tommy is over-rated and will lose to R.J. completely in capitals.

THE DRAGONZORD IS STUPID! R.J. IS A TECHNOLOGICAL GENIUS IN ADDITION TO A MARTIAL ARTS MASTER! TOMMY PROBABLY CHEATED TO GET HIS DOCTORATE! R.J. MANAGED TO SAVE THE WORLD WHILE STILL RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL PIZZA PARLOUR THAT WAS STILL IN BUSINESS DURING THE ROBOT APOCALYPSE! R.J. NEVER LOST HIS RANGER POWERS!

But in all seriousness, I went with R.J. in this round. As I have mentioned before, I have never watched Lost Galaxy, but I know that the Magna Defender is awesome (the guy has a cape, and capes are cool). However, R.J. has demonstrated on more than one occasion a powerful intellect, a martial-arts aptitude, and an always cool and collected demeanor. Mike may have almost sacrificed his life during his tenure as a Ranger, but R.J. nearly sacrificed his father at his father's behest to defeat the evil Spirit Rangers. The fact that he is a master of Pai Zhaq is not something to sniff at, either.

I am still in the mindset that Tommy should have won Grack. He was the most experienced and best person for that role in my opinion . But the "haters" decided to vote through Adam ( not that I am bitching , I love Adam ) more out of spite against Tommy. I wanted to see a even and more balanced 6th bracket with Tommy disqualified , but that didn't happen. Now we have a popularity contest left. I love Tommy but he couldn't beat Kruger , but he could beat Adam.... Not easily , but he can.

I was thinking to perhaps withhold voting for a little bit.
Most people presented arguments for who would win and who was better early on, but it's pretty much devolved into a pissing match when everyone realized that most people voted before reading arguments for and against the characters.

As for Megazords, I dunno. Most Megazords are walking bricks, so it would just be "Big gun beats big sword, so X wins"

Hey hey,don't forget me.I know Tommy will win this now that Kruger is gone,and the only hope we have left is RJ.And I agree with Locke.This tourney was good,but it dissolved quickly when the Grack division happened.Everyone voted Tommy through to the finals,which was great.He was best suited for Grack.But then everyone turned their opinions cause "We want Tommy as sixth" So all those people Tommy beat in Grack were eliminated for absolutely nothing.

This quickly turned into a popularity contest.I don't mind most of the decisions.Red,Blue,an Pink I totally agree with.Yellow is meh,Grack was horrible,and sixth is obvious because of Grack.I'm not saying that people can't choose their own rangers.I actually like seeing how most people think and choose.The problem I have is that it ruined the Grack division.

If it comes across as moaning or complaining,sorry.I'm just speaking my mind about the truth.And I know others on here agree.

Besides, it doesn't fit with the concept behind this. The team we're voting on will be using Gokaioh and Gozyujin.

We so need to do this. Either with the rangers individually, or by teams.

I'd happily help collaborate with you, and anyone else who wants to help, on this, we'll need something to fill the gap on the forum after all this is over!
