Kyoryuger Brave 23: "Go! Bakuretsu Kyoryuzin" Discussion
 

Watched the raw from Over time last night. I could only understand a few words and phrases. But over all a pretty good episode.

Does she just learn to fight?

It was okay.
If Yayoi gets more character beyond "Daigo" then I'll be happy.
If her entire character and 'joke' is that she has a crush on Daigo, then we lose another to the story devourer that is Kiryuu Daigo.

I really like the direction this series is headed in. I wish Yayoi did more in the last three episodes, but she'll go Violet next week, so it's not that long of a wait.

I really want to see the movie, though.

And I agree with Matrix, make Yayoi interesting on her own, so far her personality is "Likes Daigo, does tech stuff" Also I want her to pilot Plezuon, King has enough toys.

I think this was a good episode I am looking forward to next week and Yayoi becoming the new Violet

It's really looking like Yayoi is gonna be a standard member now.
Also: Bakuretsu Kyoryujin has an insert song. ****ing Akira Kushida!

It's another "Daigo and his friends" episode, so I am not happy about this.

Maybe the writers don't like to clog up the screen with too many characters during the dramatic scenes, or they just like Daigo too much to give the storyline to anyone else, but enough already with everything revolving around that guy. He is now the only beacon of hope when hope is lost, the driving force behind every comeback, and the leader in everyone's heart of hearts. Sheesh! Why can't there be any kind of conflict between the members to make everything not so perfect for Daigo?? Everybody seems to be very content to just sit back and let him do just about everything. I know I'd be raising a stink if I was one of them.

I used to love this show with a passion, but now I roll my eyes every time Daigo's on the screen. Anyways it's a good episode and I can't wait to see Yayoi joining the team next week, just as long she drops her Daigo obsession she'll be alright.

This. This so damn much.

These should have been two of the most epic episodes so far, and yet I've found myself barely caring about either of them. At this stage the show might as well be called "Zyuden Senshi Kyoryu Red", because the rest of the team are beginning to just feel like his backup. They seriously all just napped while he went off on his own adventures? I know they were injured but seriously?

Bakuretsu Kyoryuzin didn't do much for me either. I love the head and the arm/leg sections, but that torso is Magi GokaiOh levels of awfulness.

I've never dropped a toku show before, but this one is really beginning to try my patience now. I'm really hopeful next week's episode is going to turn things around - if Yayoi can shake off her Daigo obsession I think she'll make a good regular.

Nossan. I am dissapointed in you. Deboss gets ressurected, in a Dam, and never once did you even think of saying "I'll be Damned".

Shameful.

I enjoyed it, but I too am feeling that Daigo is getting way, way, WAY too much spotlight.

We watched 22 and 23 and I have to say, I am disappointed. Deboss' design is absolutely crap. That is just down right lazy. He looks like a busier version of the grunts in giant dino form. Everything else was great, but his design really brought my level of excitement down A LOT. I mean, the big bad is finally resurrected and it is half assed with a piss poor design. How is that even the leader? It has no intelligence whatsoever. In fact, it doesn't even look like the giant floating carrot.

You can think it's piss poor all you want but it makes complete sense that he looks that way. The Deboss Army/Legion are parts of his body, they're literally semi-sentient pieces of him. It's not that he looks like the grunts, they look like him because they literally are fragments of him. They're representative of what his complete form looks like. Does it look a little silly? Sure. But it makes complete sense in context.

I have to say that these last 3 episodes have really pulled me back in. Violet and Plezuon's intro really hooked me and the over the top Bakuretsu combo works really damn well for me too. Glad to see the show picking up a bit more after what felt like some episodic filler. Can't wait to see Yayoi join the team for real this week!

Just because it has a reason for why doesn't mean it excuses the execution. It's still poorly designed.

Oh I can understand it Den-O. I can understand why the design would look that way in the Jurassic period. However, that does not excuse how piss poor it looks for what is supposed to be the main villain of the show. Would you take the Joker seriously if he was a midget with face paint? Would you take Uva seriously if he was running around with a puppet stuck to his arms? NO!! The design is lazy and takes away from the immersion of the show.

Don't get me wrong, story wise, these episodes have been great. I was waiting for Nossan to yell, "He jumped in the dam water!" It's just that if something is bad enough to pull you out of the immersion of the show, it is doing a bad job. It is as bad as the CGI T-Rex in W.

Lies. At least Deboss looked like an actual enemy. T-Rex Dopant looked like a cross between a scifi B Movie from the days of black and white(the Kaijin form) and a crappy CGI monster from a SyFy B Movie(CGI form). Though I will agree that Deboss was bad looking overall. Hopefully that was just him being a product of him being forced to revived and a proper awakening would "update" him to modern times.

Things like there appearing to be folded arms on Deboss' chest makes me certain he'll be back in a new form.

I think [spoiler]That because of what we saw in the last scene, with him infecting Chaos' hand, that Chaos will become a Deboss/Chaos hybrid[/spoiler}
