Power Rangers Samurai Receiving Japanese Dub
 

Continuing the reverse-adaptation of Saban properties, Toei's main page has confirmed that starting August 18th Japan will be experiencing a dubbed adaptation of Power Rangers Samurai.

Strangely, this would appear to break the existing season rotation and suggests that Power Rangers Operation Overdrive will not undergo the dubbing process at this time.

*Facepalm* Its the same story as Shinkenger except watered down violence, dumb acting and Mega Mode. The dub will remove the bad acting so what's the point if watching this when you can watch Shinkenger proper? At least Dragon Knight's dub made sense to bring over.

Samurai was so close to Shinkenger…wouldn't putting it in Japanese basically make it into a dumbed down Shinkenger? Even more so if they use the Sentai cast to the dub work like they did for Mystic Force and SPD:lol

And Operation OVerdrive must really be terrible if even Japan is skipping it. :lol

Perhaps Japan is using this not for the quality of the story, but to put Shinken-Oh back on the shelves in addition to toys of the Mega Mode?
How crazy would it be to get Figuarts of Samurai Mega Mode? :lol

Only one I would buy is Gold, and maybe Yellow :lol

RPM, Dino Thunder and Jungle Fury would of been a better candidate but i guess they just want to put the Shinkenger toy's back on shelf.

Not surprised by this. When the show was airing I often saw Japanese fans on various messageboards looking for rips/subs of it.

Always impresses me how interested Japanese fans are in the Power Rangers equivalents.

I heard that was one of the sole reasons why SPD was dub. Their was a high amount of interest in the show but many Japanese fans where enrage with the quality of the SPD JP dub. That's why when Mystic Force came out they hired anime VA instead of the actor from their Sentai counterparts.

A lot of Japanese PR fans don't mind the bad acting because they don't see it. Same with us when we watch a Super Sentai or Kamen Rider show, we might think they are very well acted show but maybe someone that speaks Japanese can see it differently.

Weird question, but do people sub these dubs? I've always been interested in watching the Japanese dub versions just to see what it is like.

It's like there a you tuber that upload in parts the Japanese dub of the power rangers movie

They don't but i seen some clips from the SPD dub on Youtube. Toei for some reason has taken out all the MF clips off YT not sure why.

It's a shame no one subs them :(

I think most Toku subbers wouldn't find a reason to, if you want to watch the show so badly just watch it with the original dub. I think that's the mentality of the Toku subbers.

Ok the if there's a subtitle track we could rip off the DVDs to put on to the Japanese dub I be fine

It's weird right? All we want is original english dubs/subs of Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, and all they want is Japanese dubs/subs of Power Rangers. Maybe what Toei needs to do is an exchange program. For every Toku we send, they send one over to us.

this is exactly why ive always wondered why people have such a hard on for super sentai and the 'superb' acting it has. how the hell do any of you know the acting is better if you dont speak japanese?(which obviously you dont if you need to watch it subbed)

Yea fans that will forget what samurai is with each season on show untill they end up being part of the MMPR was the best crowed even though they never watched it before

To be fair I think you CAN tell bad acting, no matter the language, I mean just look at Kuuga, minus maybe Sakurako and Ichijou the acting in that show SUCKED. But I don't expect logic to work for the elitist cult of Super Sentai fans.

Why are you saying that here? Your vendetta against people who prefer Sentai and your constant mentioning of "Sentai elitists" that aren't actually seen here on this forum is unnecessary sometimes. Nobody ever said Kyoryuger is particularly mature or that Power Rangers is for babies here, you're just randomly putting down those that prefer Sentai.

Yeah, I'm a Sentai elitist, and I think Power Rangers is watered-down bastardization of Sentai meant for an ignorant American audience incapable of relating to other cultures or accepting the realities of life.

But I believe in live and let live, so...
