Interest Gauging - Would you listen to a TokuNation podcast? What do you want in it?
Hey guys.
I posted this on Twitter but I wanted to give you guys more than 140 characters to talk about what you do and do not want to see in a possible TokuNation podcast. We've gone back and forth on this thing since the site first launched, but I'm ready to give it some serious consideration. So please vote, but also post what you'd like to see, and NOT like to see, in a podcast. Obviously, we'd like to talk about Tokusatsu stuff, the shows that are airing, toys, news, etc., but we also want to include a couple of things that other shows do not include, but in a way that's manageable ... no one wants a 2 hour podcast of people just talking back and forth. So please, post your thoughts. Thanks! |
Who's gonna be the speakers in it? I nominate Den-O as one :lol.

I don't think a weekly show would suit Toku. Either Bi-weekly or monthly I think would be perfect.
Also, and I don't know how you would do this, but not everyone watches the newest episodes of a show the day, or hell, even week they come out, so I don't know how you would deal with spoilers. Well actually, maybe have a weekly show, but alternate. One week talk about news, toy info maybe, etc. maybe have some retrospective on past Toku shows. Then the next week talk about the current shows. That way 2 weeks worth of news/info has built up, and an episode story arc finishes and can be discussed. Just a few ideas. |
Discussing various sentai shows and they're transition over to the west... Why Kamen Rider never caught on over here... It really doesn't matter what you talk about on it so long as you get awesome people with awesome topics to be on it! :D
|
Heck yea! And like I said on twitter, I'd love to help out in anyway!
Love to see- well anything that is toku related lol. Love not to see- well to long ramblings about random stuff. Love to see that others dont do- cant really think of anything. Maybe some stuff about whats goin on with everyone? Or other anime/ manga/ comic/ toy disscussions? But like Ive already said, Id love to have and help with a TN podcast! Quote:

I don't really listen to a lot of podcasts, but I might if the content was right. The length of it matters too. And presentation is something that would influence my listening or not listening.
For example SourceFed's Table Talk on YouTube. Up until a few days ago, I was a regular viewer, but lately I haven't been really invested in it. Toku on the other hand I could talk/listen about for a while. Or just toys in general. It would be cool to have a sort of multiple person toy review type segment. Sure we get stuff like that on the forum, but I'm not always able to keep up with all of that. And with discussions in general, I'd like it if it were a good balance between objective and biased. Having too much of one or the other can get dull. |

Something like that. But down the road. |
Sentai, just so I can know what "JUICY" actually sounds like when spoken.
Is it, like, just him scremaing it? Or is he putting on a really flamboyant inflection just for that word? I also like the bi-weekly/monthly idea, that way if there's ever a slow news week we don't have to worry about lack of topics. |

How do I change my poll answer?? |

Our off topic conversation would be required to consist only of our daily lives, not wrestling, etc.

"Guys. GUYS. STFU and talk about spandex people. ONLY SPANDEX PEOPLE!" And I don't mean just for wrestling or whatever. If a topic gets brought up that leads into something else that isn't toku but is still relevant, it's all good. But at the same time, don't want a person just to blurt out, "Hey, did you watch last weeks Breaking Bad?" and then go on a discussion that doesn't correlate to anything else being talked about. |
I'd be down for this. If I had a decent mike I'd be down to do this.
I have opinions. Opinions you need forcefed :lol |
I'd listen to it,without a second thought.I think its a great idea.
|
Oh, fan work... There needs to be a fan work segment! :D
|
I would like it. I would like it to maybe be in a similar format to TFW's Podcast.

In terms of discussing shows,I really like the LWW format.3 episodes really seems to be the magic number where you can have just enough to talk about that could be a good portion of the podcast. For shows I'd say every 3-4 weeks since that would give the hosts and listeners enough time to catch up for the next podcast.I'd imagine the podcast would mainly be about the shows themselves,so I think spoilers would be a given.
A big problem is that there's more than the usual Sentai and Rider out right now.You got Super Mega Force,Ginga,Garo, the Amemiya/Inoue collab coming up and we don't know if/when Akibaranger may or may not come back.It also depends on what the hosts watch because not every host is gonna be watching everyone of these shows.but they unanimously have to be watching and be caught up on the same show/s. |
I be up for one as long as there mention to tokunation own fan fic modranger

Does anyone here work in the toku industry to any extent? I say this, because the only Podcast I listen to religiously is the Post-Movie Podcast, largely because the two presenters and their guests have all worked on movies, or have been reviewing them professionally for most of their lives. This is important because as an avid moviegoer I love seeing the inner workings, but it also provides a deep knowledge of what they are talking about to justify it basically being two old men talking about movies.
I mean no offence to any podcasters out there, but I could care less what Jack and Tom who work in tescos think of the latest movie release (that probably really exists), if I wanted just a random member of the public's opinion I'd just ask my friends. |
For me I'd be all over figure reviews as well *coughcouldhelpcough* about speculations on how bandai will handle figures, SICs etc...and even talk about the stuff that is the "lets watch X this week" recaps. That would be easier on spoilers because a lot of that stuff most have watched.

It's quite boring unless you love hearing about how a toy TRULY goes concept design to retail shelf. NOTE: At all the toy panels over the years, designers always leave out really key reasons WHY they decided to make this toy over that toy. It all starts, believe it or not, on previous data from product testing (with kids) as well as retailer feedback. At least, in the USA side. Bandai Japan, on the other hand, is a different beast entirely. |
I voted no, but it should really be undecided. Not every podcast I listen to is because of the subject, it's because of the casters themselves. So I guess my answer is more, "it depends on the on-air personalities".
|
I volunteer my voice acting talents if another speaker is needed :lol
|
I volunteer to speak because something something something.

I think there's a few possible options for podcasting; just depends on getting people with something to say.
And people who know how all that recording stuff works. |

I want voices that are clear, understandable, and melodious (i.e. I don't want to tear my ears off and chuck them down to Atlantis), although if they have a personality, I can overlook that. I would recommend Den-O (because his voice meets the requirements I have set), Sentai (because I want to hear what "JUICY!" sounds like), KamenRiderOOO (see Den-O), and Matrixbeast (because bronies gotta look out for one another, yo). I would be willing to help out, since I watch the new episodes of Wizard, Kyoryuger, Akibaranger, and Ginga as soon as the subs come out (on YouTube). However, I don't go shopping for toys very often, so I can't really help out there.

Depends, if the podcast is going on itunes alone then no. If you worm it onto like youtube, or anywhere else then yes.
