Happy 20th Birthday Power Rangers #PowerRangers20 #PR20
1 Attachment(s)
Man, how time flies.
It was 20 years ago today, August the 28th, that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first aired. Five teenagers with attitude were selected by intergalactic being Zordon to save the world from Rita Repusla. Since then, the Power Rangers have been called upon to stop Lord Zedd, Hydro Hog, King Mondo, Divatox, Astronema, Trakeena, Queen Bansheera, Ransik, Master Org, Lothar, Mesogag, Emperor Grumm, The Master, Flurious, Dai'Shi, Venjix, Master Xandred, and now Vrak and his fellow evil space aliens. We've had powers given to teenagers and young adults ranging from powerful magical coins to cell phones. We've had love and romance between characters, other characters whose search for their lost sibling lead them straight in to the maw of the enemy, and an even the son of two villains appear in order to take revenge on his parents being turned to the side of good. We've had a number of colors - Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Green, White, Gold, Silver, Titanium, Crimson, Navy, Shadow, Purple, and even a spoof by featuring an Orange one. We've had teams of Power Rangers start as small as three and become as large as nine (here's looking at you, SPD Nova Ranger!). They've been based behind dinosaurs, ninjas, shapes, samurai, animals, cars, cars that are based on animals, and so much more. And sadly we've lost actors behind some of our favorite characters - Trini, Ernie, U'Donna - and yet every year (or 2 years now) we're introduced to a new set of characters, a new set of actors for us to fall in love with. Give a roll call to your favorite Power Rangers series! Here, we'll help: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - "It's Morphin' Time!" Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers - "It's Morphin' Time!" Power Rangers Zeo - "It's Morphin' Time!" Power Rangers Turbo - "Shift in to Turbo!" Power Rangers In Space - "Let's Rocket!" Power Rangers Lost Galaxy - "Go Galactic!" Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue - "Lightspeed Rescue!" Power Rangers Time Force - "Time For, Time Force!" Power Rangers Wild Force - "Wild Access!" Power Rangers Ninja Storm - "Ninja Storm, Ranger Form, Ha!" Power Rangers Dino Thunder - "Dino Thunder, Power Up, Ha!" Power Rangers SPD - "SPD Emergency!" Say it with me now ... GO GO POWER RANGERS! |
No Power Rangers! Today is my birthday!

Time for Time Force!
My all time favorite series, and it holds up surprisingly well today. It introduced the strongest Pink to date, it gave a solid story and a really nice set of characters (Only one was forgettable, which is a really good record considering most Ranger series has 3 bland characters). Shift Into Turbo! It's not perfect, and it's heavily flawed, but it holds a soft spot in my heart. While I'll acknowledge that it's nowhere near the best PR series, I'm inclined to defend it from the unwarranted hate of "Tommy left! That must mean this series sucks!" |
It's Morphin' Time!
I think the pivotal moment as a kid for me was seeing Tommy return in "Return of an Old Friend", with his own theme song. That got me re-hooked and even more so when he returned as the White Ranger in "White Light". I stayed through till Lightspeed Rescue started, and lost interest. Picked the show back up during Dino Thunder, and went back and watched the series I had missed and realized Time Force was a great show. Caught most of SPD (though the middle to end episodes bored me), and left the show again until I decided to give RPM a try. Got re-hooked, and I've seen every episode since, and dare I say it, every episode ever (minus a few Jungle Fury episodes). Looking forward to the rest of Megaforce, how they do Super Megaforce, and the "Legendary Battle" finale! |
I haven't watched every episode, but I will say that from what I've watched, Power Rangers RPM is my favorite. Not only did I find the characters to be likable and interesting, (yes, even Gem and Gemma,) the acting, story, and overall quality of the show was superb, reaching a standard most seasons don't even dream of. Yes, I love the show, but I love it for how fun it is, not for how masterful.
Ninja Storm will always hold a special place in my heart for being the season I learned about the Rangers. |
I had watched Power Rangers consistently from Mighty Morphin all the way up to SPD, having stopped about halfway through Mystic Force.
Where lots of others dropped PR because they lost interest or "Grew up", I actually stopped watching simply because Disney made it so difficult to keep up with it. I couldn't keep up with Disney XD's sporadic and constantly shifting schedule to catch Mystic Force, and at the time, it wasn't readily available online to watch (Either that, or I just didn't know where to look). |
The farthest back i go in my memories is Lightspeed rescue, i remember having one of two of the toys specifically the Blue ranger, i watched every single episode from Lightspeed all the way up to Dino Thunder, i had a hard time trying to catch episodes of SPD, i completely missed Mystic force (because i didn't even know it existed till it was ahalfway over.) and then after that point i didn't watch it until RPM. I skipped Samurai until earlier this year and now i'm watching Megaforce, in a nutshell i love this series.
Wild access!! |
I had to rely on DVDs and vacations to watch Power Rangers back in the old times. I still have my old Navy Thunder Ranger figure, as well as every other Power Ranger toy that I bought.
|
Mine would be shift in to turbo I might be the only one that enjoy turbo regardless of Justin or the leaving of the old cast but I love turbo it more memorable to me yes I seen season 2 and 3 of MMPR due to I was 2 and 3 watching it but turbo was more memorable to me.
|
I remember watching Lightspeed Rescue. Thats the one show I can remember seeing when I was young. Of course, thanks to VHSs and DVDs, I also group up with the seasons before. I stopped watching after Mystic Force since with all the "growing up" stuff. But, Ive come back to see the seasons Ive missed. I never really had a DX mecha. Hell, my first one was the Samurai Megazord.
|
RPM, Get in Gear!! This show literally brought me back to Power Rangers, it was fun and doesn't take itself too seriously, one of the best easily!
|
Lightspeed! Rescue!
Hard to believe it's been 20 years. I can still remember taping Green With Evil and rushing home to watch each installment. What a long, strange trip it's been! |
It's Morphin' Time!

"Ninja Storm Ranger Form Ha!
Thunder Storm Ranger Form Ha! Samurai Storm Ranger Form ha!" What can I say? It was my first series and my personal MMPR. "Jungle Beast Spirit Unleashed!" One of my two favorite series. I love all the chatacters. Casey is a great rwd and had a greater story. Theo isnt as bland as most blues and got the girl in the end (I envy him.). Lilly is cute, hot, whatever you wanna say, One of the best yellows and the reason Im jealous of Theo :p. Dominic is probably my least favorite of team, but he was cool, and gave Fran a reason to be there. Finally, RJ, a guy who shares my name and that itself made me flip out as a kid. Hell one of the reasons I love this series is because of that! That and all the oher reasons I mentioned. Honorable mentions of ciurse Jerrod and Camille, they were pretty awesome and had good development. Oh almost forgot the Spirit Rangers/ Masters- they were cool. The chracters were cool, just wish we had actually seen them morph. "RPM Get In Gear!" Yea my other favorite series ever. I could seriously watch this show over and over again. Scott was a good red, the father-son moments with him and his Dad were good. Flynn.... He's SCOTTISH!!! And a great blue, one of the if not THE most memorable blues. Summer, hell like Lilly shes great ;). Ziggy, how in the hell can you not love this guy? He is the bumbling idiot that I wouldve been if I had to become a ranger. Dillion is that badass black ranger with the sad backstory that we all love. Gem and Gemma, I dont hate them like others do. They were cool, Gemma wasnt as bad when Gem wasnt around. I didnt really care for when Gem got jealous of Gemma and Flynn workin on stuff. Dr. K was great, kind of a didnt give a crap about you at first but she grew and so did her love for Ziggy, ehich goes to show you can get the girl even if she doesnt like you at first. Tenaya 7, she was there and gave Dillion backstory. |
I too was born in 1993, but not till December, so most of my memories stated around Zeo and kept going strong until Operation Overdrive then things got a little off, but then some time around 2010 I founded out what Sentai was and one thing lead to the next and now I'm here. Anyway Power Rangers was always a standby show in my child hood that I always try to catch when I could so Happy birth day Rangers

Man, I feel so freaking old. |
It's Morphin' Time!
and SPD Emergency! |
"Let's Rocket!"
A nice conclusion to the Zordon era, and for some reason the first thing that comes to my mind when people mention Power Rangers. "Time For, Time Force!" One of the best PR seasons ever, more mature and dark. "SPD Emergency!" A great series with an excellent cast of Rangers. "Jungle Beast, Spirit Unleashed!" The first series I truly enjoyed after SPD, it was fun when it needed to be fun and serious when it needed to be serious. Plus RJ is awesome. Sadly haven't watched RPM, for some stupid reason they only aired the first few episodes here. |

Also, how has no one posted this yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFubl8g0-Fo |
One of my most favorite moments from MMPR was the plot all about the white ranger's introduction. Just the sort of mystery behind this new warrior and the way they finally revealed his identity were mind-blowing to me as a kid, for reasons I couldn't comprehend back then. The reason was because it was just so unique. Power Rangers, being the show that it was, something based on an unusual genre in Japan, provides a spin on superheroes seldom seen on TV, which I feel is what made me love it so much.
I also didn't have many zords (mostly weapons and figures), but the one I loved so dearly was Ninjor. He was THE superior toy of my collection back then, and I loved him so much that when I thought I'd completely outgrown Power Rangers, and Ninja Storm was in stores, I could NOT resist buying Ninjakon, the red remold of Ninjor. It's on my desk at this moment. For these reasons and more, I did this image. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...is-d6k3rym.png |
Cheer, Cheer! For Super Sentai it was 35years 2 years, and we finally reach our 20th anniversary...Who would've thought Power Rangers would make it all the way through! :D
Lost Galaxy and Light Speed Rescue has a special place for since they were my MMPR as a child. I really loved the Magna Defender as child, and even his back story and him sacrificing himself for the greater good was really touching as I look back now. As for Light Speed Rescue...Man the Titanium ranger was just awesome back in the day, I was such a 6th/extra ranger fan that I couldn't get over the coolness of Titanium Ranger, and I still love that character to this date. After re-watching the series again, I didn't realize he had little screen time due to not having a sentai-counter part which makes me a bit sad. Magna Defender and Titanium Ranger will always be neck and neck for me when it comes to "Who's your favorite Ranger?" |
Oh power rangers just hear "GO GO POWER RANGERS" makes me jump for joy everytime the theme is played.I still remember watchin my very first episode with my little brother and was liek COOL POWER RANGERS and it goes on from there.
Of course Its morphin time the years hearing that was so fun and with a few new people comming in and new powers it was fun to watch especially Green with evil part 5. Shift into Turbo A very boring season in the begining almost made me fall asleep till the new cast were comming in and then it got better again Let's Rock It One of the final series I watched as a kid before moving onto Pokemon and other ventures Ninja Storm and on is when I got back into pr and also into knowing what sentai is must say a pretty good few years and hope for more things to come cheers to another more 20 years |
Power Rangers is cool and I like it.
|
RPM, GET IN GEAR! YEAH! Honestly, I love almost every season of Power Rangers. Well, maybe not OO.... but that's understandable...
|
Please, for the love of Zordon, DO NOT CALL TITANIUM AND SHADOW A COLOR!!!! Titanium was a silver ranger, and Shadow was a metallic light blue-ish armored black ranger of epic puppyness
|
But my favorite color was Quantum...

My second favorite color was Phantom, while my 3rd favorite color was easily Omega.
