Bandai steps into a new era with the announcement of S.H.Figuarts Godzilla, representing his appearance in the 2000s and onward.

S.H.Monster Arts Godzilla 2000 will be released in December, just in time for the holidays! He’ll be retailing for 7000 yen and is a mass retail release.

Ohhhhhh yes. Love it. This will be the one Monsterart I keep for myself.

Never been a fan of his 2000 look, I think I'll stick with the Heisei one.

Was it really used in all movies 2000 onwards? I thought he got an updated, better looking body in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, or am I just remembering it wrong?

The same general shape was used for the Millenium films except for GMK. There was refinements and changes to it, but much in the same way that the Hesai Goji looks very similar from 1989-1995, so does Millenium Goji. This includes the spines, jawline, head shape, tail, etc.

Gira-Goji was Mire-Goji, but with a lighter color palette and minor cosmetic changes to the head. Quick aside, but it amazes me a little that the Mire/Gira-Goji suit, the one used in Godzilla 2000 and then vs. Megaguirus, still exists wholly intact! It was the same suit used in the pachinko Godzilla game and even appeared in the Godzilla Encounter during SDCC.

Kiryu-Goji has a lot in common with Mire-Goji, particularly the build of the body and the jagged coral dorsal spines, but blends traditional colors and Heisei proportions into the design as well. It's a lot different using Godzilla 2000 as a replacement for Kiryu-Goji compared to Godzilla 1994 filling in for the other later Heisei Godzillas.

Been wanting this since near the start of MonsterArts. He looks amazing, I do hope he comes with some accessories though.

The other visual diference of the GMK suit which cannot be overstated is the performance. Yoshida's portrayl of Goji is a lot different than what Kitagawa did in 2000 and especially GxM, and that really changes the perception of the suit.

The proportions will end up being a relative thing, depending on how he scales next to Kiryu. There's just as much difference and changes to the Heisei suits as there is to the Millenium ones; the thunder thighs on the '93 suit, for instance, always stand out to me. I still think that as a representation of the Millenium era Goji, this is a strong looking toy.

As far as the suit still being intact, I remember thinking that when I watched the two making of DVDs on the pachinko games. I am pretty sure I read that Toho has taken a lot of pains to keep some of their modern suits in good shape specifically for side projects like that.
