VR Troopers Season 2 Volume 2 Release Canceled?
 

The good people at RangerCrew have noticed the removal of Shout! Factory's "Season 2, Volume 2" VR Troopers product listing from Amazon.com and expects cancellation emails to be sent out in the near future.

Coupled with previous reports from Shout! Factory about unsatisfactory sales figures for VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs means that home releases of both final sets is unlikely at this point. :(

Not cool. Not cool at all. We were just days a way from getting this. What a let down. I hope the 3rd Power Rangers Mega set makes good money so that we can get the 4th & last Mega set.

It's too bad they can't go to a print-on-demand model for some of the less popular titles.

This is why we posted an article on Shout's behalf last month. This is a real situation from a smaller company. They need proof of profit/sales to justify releasing these final sets. They aren't pulling a Mattel, threatening to cancel something. This is a very real numbers game. Not enough people are buying the previously released sets, and unless that changes, these last couple sets will not see release.

Shout cant be that small of a company if they are getting their product into big box retailers, namely Walmart. I hate to say it but what did they expect from kids niche 90s shows that really werent that good then and are even worse nowadays. If they had released the complete series at once in one shot this wouldnt be an issue now would it?

Own all shows/seasons on DVD.
Never got into VR Troopers. Borgs I watched growing up, too childish now.
They did put out a cool VR Troopers board game - I own that mint.

Ahh, that stinks. I bought both volumes of season 1, and season 2 volume 1 is on it's way from Amazon right now.

This is why I rarely buy anything by season and never by volume - because things like this happen. Companies need to learn to just release complete series sets. On series like these, it's the only way to go.

Damn, It's basically the same thing that happened to Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego.. Because of low sales, Shout! stopped after it's first release and Mill Creek got the rights after.

Don't be surprise when the same might happen. I want Shout! to succeed in all their titles. I remember someone here saying Shout! should add a 30 second clip to all its individuals PR disc to boost sales. It's a good idea because the general public, children these days aren't expose with older waterdown shows.

For what it was, most children then, are now in their 20's-30's and a complete series release from the start would've been ideally the best. And not make a mass release, but a MOD on Amazon and directly from Shout! would have been perfect imo.

Why release 3 volumes of each before calling low sales.

Its a slap in the face of the people like myself who've supported the product and bought all the troopers and beetleborgs sets.

Sometimes its the right thing for a company to release the final part (even if it costs them).

Its not like we're 25% done. We are 75% done on both.

I get that they want more sales to justify it. But telling this to people who have supported the sets is awful.

It just makes me not keen to support dvds until the whole show is out.

I'm assuming they released it in volumes to test the water. If they went away and put in the effort to create a complete boxset and then sell two of them, the wasted a lot more time and money than if the same happened with a single volume. Yeah it's shitty they didn't follow it through to the end, but I see their logic.

At least it's all on Netflix?

I have to agree, this is rather Matty of Shout! Factory to just up and cancel individual DVD releases until sales improve. They can't be that small of a DVD company.

Oh well, at least there's torrents.

While I don't speak for everyone, I sure as hell don't want to pay a subscription fee for something I've already bought 3/4 of and actually want to own so the chances of Netflix pulling the plug on it happen all of a sudden.

I don't really want to moan at Shout! because they're a great company, but why only now do they decide to cancel? If they chosen to not release ANY of Metallix, I'd be disappointed but at least there wouldn't be this gaping hole in my collection.
