Power Rangers "What If..." thoughts...
I decided to start this thread simply for fun and hopefully people will contribute their own thoughts and ideas. Here's one though to get things started...
As I watch the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers seasons on Netflix streaming I think to myself about some 'What If..' scenarios. As we all know, by season 2 we're introduced to the Dairanger zords, Lord Zedd as the new baddie, and Tommy becoming the White Ranger. However, we also see Jason, Zack, and Trini replaced by Rocky, Adam, and Aisha due to actors playing them wanting to get paid better than they were and quit midseason. I just have to wonder how would the show have gone had Austin St. John (Jason), Walter Jones (Zack), and Thuy Trang (Trini) stayed on. Would things have been any different? Would Jason still be leader of the Power Rangers over Tommy? Would the rivalry between Jason and Goldar have still existed and made use of as it was a number of times in season one? How different would the first big screen movie have been? (ex: Zack instead of Adam in the classic 'I'm a frog' scene) What do you all think? Also, do you have any "What If..." ideas of your own to contribute? Feel free as discussion is open! |
i want whole new cast as new power rangers team in s2 and 6 heroes be desenets of 1st power ranger team
i want used 5 main dairangers suits with white ranger suit 3 goma generals work for lord zedd rid rita and her goons find new mentor for power rangers team like in dairanger |
I think Jason Geiger (Austin St John) leaving would have happened anyways. He went by Austin because he was upset that the show had Jason David Frank and Jason Narvy as listed starring roles and that he wouldn't be the only "Jason" in the credits (per Jason David Frank). We also know per JDF that Geiger didn't like the "it's Morphin time" belonging to anyone but him. With JDF's rise in popularity, I assume Geiger would have demanded he be paid the most and get the most screen time for being the Red Ranger.
We also know he only came back in Zeo for money and a minor role in the movie. He said it was to take care of his sick mother but with all the stories about how dramatic and "in the spotlight" he was, one can only doubt the validity of his claims. I think for Power Rangers to be where it's at today, those 3 had to leave. |

I wonder how Walter Jones and Thuy Trang were on the set now after hearing about Austin (Jason). Given they all seemed to jump ship at the same time and stuff. When I look back at the MMPR series, when comparing Jason, Zack, and Trini to Rocky, Adam, and Aisha, I can't really recall Rocky or Aisha doing much during their time as Mighty Morphin Rangers before Zeo happened (of course by then Aisha was gone). Adam however got to become the black Mighty Morphin Ranger twice more after losing his powers (once in In Space and again in Operation Overdrive) In all honesty I wonder if maybe the cast changing out each season thing should have started in season 2 when Dairanger started to become what they used stuff from... |
I know it isn't a what if, but since we're on the topic, anyone else feel really downtrodden when they learnt the reality of Power Rangers? Although I may not like the show that much now, Jason and the gang were my childhood and between all the bullying, inflated egos and Saban being Saban I almost feel morally obliged to go back in time and boycott it. And I know this stuff permeates through all of entertainment, but these kids were no one and this was just a kids show, so it somehow feels even worse.
If anything, I'm glad they were replaced, because I don't think they deserved to be a part of what would grow into a phenomenon. |
i redo whole green with evil saga and day of dumpster
tommy brother as green ranger tommy as red trex ranger and put back storiies too |
It would be kinda cool to make Tommy Jason's brother, and Jason is the handsome, intelligent one that their parents always loved so of course he is the Red Ranger while Tommy continues to be a no one, barely qualifying for martial arts tournaments, that his brother always wins. Then Rita turns around and offers him his own powercoin and the promise that with it, he can be the top brother for once...

I'm honestly surprised at how many times Power Rangers was almost cancelled and yet somehow keeps itself from ending. Quote:

When it comes to how Austin St John was behind the scenes, I find it difficult to take anything JDF says as truth any more. He can call him dramatic, badmouth him and say he always wanted to be in the spotlight as much as he wants, but that's a bit rich coming from the guy who thinks his ranger is popular enough to warrant a solo movie...

Anyway, my what if thought was What if Power Rangers had more crossovers beyond just with Masked Rider and TMNT? And no, Forever Red wasn't a Beetleborgs crossover. They were just reusing costumes to save money. |

But I'm unsure of the quality of PR comics. |

Oh, and the art is REALLY bad. Will have to take some photos at some point :lol (It's the original Turbo Rangers too, rather than TJ and co.) |

Much like his Star Trek comics, I don't feel like watching him nitpick at every little thing for 25 minutes then declare the comic sucks for stuff he let the Zeo comic get away with (Much like he did with their respective series). |

I haven't actually watched Linkara's show in years since he kept trying to drive his own plots about Mechakara or Lord Vile...or something down our throats more and more each new episode. Just review the comics! And while on the subject of comics for Power Rangers. IDW would be cool, but it'd also be cool if maybe they could do comics based on Power Rangers of the past. You know, run stories about various teams and so on. Maybe start with a story arc for Mighty Morphin, then go to Zeo, or SPD, or Wild Force, etc, etc... Whatever show at the time going would get it's own comic, and then a Retro Power Rangers or something... |

Linkara actually took those complaints to heart, and now doesn't shove his story stuff into his reviews. Nowadays, his story stuff occurs after the review, and, occasionally, before the intro.

Continuing the subject of comics, most Ranger teams from In Space onward tended to keep their powers, their series just ended. A company like IDW could handle PR comics without creating plotholes since, like, only Ninja Storm lost their powers. |
What if... Operation Overdrive wasn't a giant waste of time.

As far as I know, the MMPR still somehow have their original power coins (though damaged), but the ninja coins are gone. The Zeo powers should still exist, but the Turbo ones were lost. Otherwise, yeah, Ninja Storm lost theirs though didn't they get them back in the Dino Thunder crossover? I know the Dino Thunder Rangers got theirs back in SPD, though I believe were taken away again along with the memories of their encounters both times. A good writer could explain everything if they put effort in obviously. Jason having the Tyranno Power coin still for example is maybe due to when he Zack, and Trini transferred their powers to Rocky, Adam, and Aisha, it somehow created duplicate power coins or something. I'm really curious to see how Tommy gets his Green Ranger powers back. |

Power Rangers In Space - Justin the Blue Turbo Ranger Justin's morpher, while powerless, was stored in Storm Blaster. It is believed that Storm Blaster, a sentient vehicle, used its own power to "power up" the Blue Turbo Ranger powers so that Justin could morph again. Power Rangers In Space - Adam the Black Mighty Morphin Power Ranger When the Thunderzords were destroyed by Rito Revulto, the Power Rangers were unable to use their power coins because their powers had been "destroyed". They gain the Ninja powers through Ninjor, and we learn in Adam's return that the original morphers and dino coins were never destroyed entirely, just severely damaged and the powers "destroyed". Adam morphs, looks to suffer some physical pain for doing so, before the power fades away for good. Power Rangers Wild Force - Forever Red It is never explained how Jason is able to morph, or how his powers are still around. Theories are rampant - some say the "Power Transfer" simply copied the Power Rangers (as there are two sets in the scene), and others say that he was able to use his morpher because it wasn't destroyed (like Adam's in In Space), and that Jason most likely got it back from Rocky during Jason's tenure on Zeo. The Zeo powers were never shown destroyed or rendered inert. Because of this, it's easy to assume the Zeo powers were simply retired, and Tommy busted them out. Much like Justin's powers with Storm Blaster, it's likely that TJ was able to have his Turbo morpher charged by Lightning Cruiser. Power Rangers Dino Thunder The Ninja Storm Rangers used the last of their morphing powers to seal away Lothar, but he escaped. But when Cam, Blake, and Hunter freed their sensei from the Abyss of Evil, it is stated on screen that there is enough power left for one last battle. Afterwards, Hailey informs the team that the Ninja Storm powers are no more, where Connor then states "It's our turn now". Power Rangers SPD The Dino Rangers are bought from the past in to the future, and the SPD are able to recharge their Dino Gems which allow them to morph. The second crossover, "Wormhole", has SPD traveling in to the past during the time frame of Dino Thunder, meaning there is no explanation needed for how the Dino Thunder Rangers have their powers. Power Rangers Operation Overdrive Sentinel Knight is able to return the powers to the five rangers that he selected - Adam, Tori, Kira, and Xander. It is assumed that Bridge from SPD was merely plucked out of time for the battle and returned soon thereafter. Hope that helps! |
Are those the only characters who lost their powers?

Hmm...What if the Silver Guardians were able to replicate the Quantum Ranger powers in Time Force?

Give PRT a happy ending

"Mighty Morphin Dairanger" should have begun with the 5 MMPR abducted by Lord Zedd and Tommy takes the helm of Red Dragon Ranger. He then finds four other teens (Adam Rocky Aisha Katherine) who each take the other four Dairanger powers. Ten episodes later have Jason as the White Ranger and finish the season rescuing the rest of MMPR and finish off the season with MMPR vs MMDR collabo where they make Lord Zedd flee.

i want kid as white ranger and kid pull saba out of rock like kou did

What if......
Zordon appeared, and turned out to be a little girl? |
What if Zordon turned out to be Jason from the future, his human body destroyed by overuse of the Morphin Grid. He knows full well that the teenagers would eventually be killed by the Power Coins, but without becoming the Red Ranger, he'd never become Zordon to create the Power Rangers and stop Rita.

What if Masked Ri-Der was a permanent part of Power Rangers' cast after the crossover?

What if it turned out that Zordon is actually a split being? Like to where there's the good Zordon that we all know and love, put there was an evil part of him that eventually split off and become Zedd, and Rita's dad? Or even Dark Specter?
|
What if Billy had been actually allowed to become the Gold Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo?
What if the White Ranger had been played by a different actor than Jason David Frank returning as Tommy as originally planned? |
