The massive "Power Rangers Legacy: The First 20 Years" DVD boxset at last has a price tag and release window!!

This wonderful 98-disc Shout! Factory release will be available starting Tuesday, September 10th with orders opening at 1pm Eastern Standard Time. The price is a steep $650 USD but free shipping is available to continental US buyers (sadly the set will NOT be available for those outside the United States).

The set is limited to only 2000 units, so any interested buyers should set their calendars for next Tuesday and check Shout! Factory's main site when the time comes!

Not really. Do the math-

The already released Seasons 1-7 boxset had a starting price of 220, which breaks down to $32 a season (roughly). 32 times 20 seasons = 640. Plus the extremely limited run and the bonus features that will only apply to this set... $650 is a pretty reasonable price.

I'll just buy the 3rd & 4th Mega sets.

Makes sense. Too bad I don't want to order a $650 giant head even though I have no qualms with buying all the contents in the standard retail releases.

Maybe it's the staggered, multiple releases that don't force me to spend half a grand.

Yeah man, this kind of shit really pisses me off. I'm not sure I'd want to purchase it, honestly, but I'd still like the option too. Oh well, if they don't want my money, I'm just hoping no one buys it so I can laugh at the arrogance.

It's not Shout's fault. Likely they weren't given license for overseas distirbution of certain seasons, thus holding the whole boxset back. If even one season, like Alien Rangers, didn't get the go ahead by Saban to see international release, Shout can't really do anything. They're a distributor, not the producers.

It's hardly arrogance. In fact I don't think you know what that means. Now assuming the worst of a company because of distribution issues likely out of their control...

It's not really just Shout, it's the market in general. I go on the US Amazon and see every single one of my childhood shows on there, restored, complete and cheap as hell. I go on the UK Amazon and you're lucky to find a single volume of MMPR and it's probably a bootleg to boot (pun not intended).

Sadly that's just the nature of media distribution. It's a messy not of copyrights, trademarks and broadcasting standards.

Of course getting these things from, say, someone on here wouldn't be hard. Even if it's nothing to do with Toku.

Considering that there's gonna be at least 765 episodes on this set, plus a bunch of extras, $650 is actually a steal for this set. Its a lot to buy in one shot, but the price per episode is honestly quite cheap.

in the age of online shopping, distribution rights are really not applicable(n/a).
all in all this a ludicrously priced and ballsy release for such a 'small' company that cant even be bothered to release all of beetleborgs or vr troopers.

I just really wish theyd make individual seasons, the ONLY ones Id buy are Jungle Fury and RPM, maybe Dino Thunder and Ninja Storm, but the first two I would gladly buy.

I think Paladin asked them over on Twitter and they said they dont any plans right now for all the seasons individual release.

This. Not only is the price ridiculously high (and yes I recognise that per episode it's cheaper but how many people really have like £400 lying around to buy twenty years of a TV show in one go?) but they're limiting their market as well by not shipping outside the US and yet they still went ahead with it (as Shout seem happy to just drop things they assume will fail) so they must somehow think this will succeed.

Not to mention the age of Netflix.

I actually prefer to own a physical copy, if I'm gonna pay at all (minus music). I love holding a book in my hands, smelling those fresh pages, and I love the work that goes into the design of boxsets as they gleam on my shelf, when paying for netflix or whatever it never feels like I'm owning anything, I'm just given the privilege to watch it.

But since Saban or whatever seem to want to make it impossible for me to own anything, torrenting it is. You don't want my money, fine with me.

We don't even get Netflix in Australia, ugh.

Anyway, I doubt this won't be something of a success. It's a pretty limited run and I'm sure there are at least 2000 people who know about this and want it in the US.

Yeah we have to pay for hacks to get the US Netflix in the UK which doubles the price and can make it quite costly unless you use that service singularly.

I kid. I know not everyone has Netflix. But I'd rather pay 8 bucks a month for that, and watch what episodes I want, then shell out 650 bucks for that thing.

Not that much more costly unblock-us.com is a subscription service that allows to have Hulu unblocked and get American Netflix unblocked for just £3.22 a month so it ant that bad I use a lot

Yeah and Netflix is what, four or five pound per month already? So that's 8 or 9 pound a month to watch those shows. And it isn't like you're actually owning a physical copy, it's just a low quality stream, so I think it's a fucking rip.

The only low quality is at the eying of the show I watch it the goes to high quality near the begging as well

That doesn't change the fact that you're paying like a hundred quid a year for streams, where most spent like 40 quid to watch the seasons until they die.
