Power Rangers Megaforce Episode 11 - Ultra Power - Episode Discussion
Vrak acquires the powerful "Wild Sword", a weapon capable of giving him enough power to destroy the Power Rangers! It's up to the Megaforce Power Rangers, along with Robo Knight, to free the Wild Sword, and in return, unlocking amazing new powers ... Ultra Mode!
Watch the episode, then vote and discuss your opinions on it! Only took 11 episodes of Megaforce to get the "Super Mode" so to speak, where Samurai took 20 or more (depending on how you incorporate specials, etc.). The weird thing is there's only 9 episodes left until SUPER Mega Force! |
Now we finally see if they keep the wings or not. I wouldn't see why not, when they use their wings using the Miracle Headders they were armored and gold. Not white and feathery.
But it's Saban so you never know :lol |
They'll probably keep the wings so they don't have to spend money editing and making new effects :p

i have a feeling if they kept him gosei knight then it would have made it rather confusing with their terrible mentor charecter
|
Troy is actually emoting! Sure he's still bad at acting but baby steos i guess.
|
I don't keep up with Mega Force.... but they're only on episode 11... the hell. I thought they were at least around 18.
Anyways, I think I'll at least check this episode out since they get their super modes.. |
Well I thought this was an excellent episode because of the action and it felt well put together

SUPER MEGAFORCE MIGHT BE TOLERABLE NOW! Oh wait, Saban is still employing Jonathan Tzachor. Poop. Anyone else keep thinking of Wild Force when a character brought up this ep's Macguffin? |
That was a pretty good episode. The MOTD was cool. the Wild Sword was awesome looking. And holy crap Troy actually showed emotion!
|
why wild force? what power rangers series doesnt have a macguffin?
|
Does anyone else think that the Rangers were kind of acting like jerks by throwing a dance party in Gosei's lair and dancing in front of the guy? Because if I was affixed to a wall and a bunch of teenagers threw a party in my house and danced in front of me, I'd be a bit peeved.

I was waiting for some one to say somthing about Power Rangers Wild Force. Somthing about that swoed made me think of them.
9 more ep's to go maybe it's time for them to start talking about some past teams. |
You have no idea how much giving this episode a Bad hurt me, because of how much I adore Tensou Sentai Goseiger. But Goseiger this is not. The acting just gets worse, the way they handled the 'Ultra' Zords.. Robo Knight..
This show physically hurts me .-. |

Because it's not supposed to be. I actually enjoyed this episode. Vrak being active was cool, as was the fight with all of the monsters. The ultra sword is still pretty laughable, but nothing could be done about that. Although I sure hope they don't show inserting the Ultra Zords every time they activate Ultra Mode, because that's just really clunk and awkward. |
In all honesty, I think this episode had some of the best Robo Knight moments yet. Chris Auer gave a wonderful performance for this episode.

Episode was great. Was so jammed pack and never stopped. Really blew me away with everything went out. A lot was put into making the episode.

power rangers is at its best when it does its own thing. when power rangers just rehashes what the sentai does, its quite boring I loathe goseiger, yet I'm enjoying megaforce. really the only thing that annoys me is gia, i love vrak and robo knight and the rest of the cast, its only gia i can't stand this was a very good episode, shame there will not be an episode this week |

Sorry for the double post.
I think I may've been to harsh. The acting is just getting to me, I think. While RoboKnight has grown on me to the point I don't outright loathe him anymore, and he had an excellent swordfight with Distractor this episode, Troy, Noah, Emma, Jake, and Even Gia this episode, are somehow getting worse. Vrak is excellent. That VA artist is a joy to listen to. I'm thinking that hopefully the acting will settle out. It did for Samurai for a little while. |
Great episode!
Shouldn't some kind of alarm or something have gone on considering Vrak was like a five minute walk away from the command centre? I dunno who is more dense here, did Vrak know how close he was? For such a cool villain, it made him look oddly goofy to just be chilling in the woods, talking to himself and playing with insects. And why is he in his mutant disguise when he isn't even around them? Straight into the Megazord fighting? How disappointing. Still, there was some great action this week, I dunno whether it's something to do with the clean HD transfer or maybe there is more American footage than I realise, but the production values for the action in this show just feel huge. And I know Goseiger is only like three years old, but most sentai look fairly low budget and cheap to begin with, especially with all the garbage CGI they end up using, so you think after three years this would look downright terrible. Just a shame the Ultra Swords look like bubblegum dispensers. I just wish all the Megaforce villains didn't have such bad voice actors and awful personalities. Not to mention how everyone in this show speaks entirely in exposition, even quiet character moments are depicted as characters shouting the plot of the episode at one another or describing things as if they've suddenly found themselves in a first person novel. I love RoboKnight though, he's about the only character I genuinely like in this show. Jake why did you look disappointed by Emma appearing behind you man?! |
Hey look, Troy can emote after all! And even Gia managed to switch from her single facial expression at the end of the episode. We may well be on our way here!
Anyway yeah this was a brilliant episode. Loved that great little scene of Vrak chilling with the insects at the beginning. The gumball swords are still lame, but the super mode is pretty decent aside from that. Just wish they would say "sword" and "zord" repeatedly in the same sentence so I can follow what they're actually talking about. On hilarious point of contention though: Distractor (you really didn't think he was only distracting you with a name like that, rangers?) summoned those monsters and called them "old friends of yours"...weren't most of them monsters from episodes Megaforce had skipped over? :lol |

Remember...
The same writing staff that wrote the "Super Samurai" episodes, which most of the fandom considered a major step-up from "Samurai", wrote the "Megaforce" episodes. When we get to "Super Megaforce", we end up with the crappy "Samurai" writers everyone hated again. I think the problem everyone is over-looking here is the DIRECTION. And I don't mean the direction of the show as in "where it's going", but I mean the people in charge of executing the story and giving the actors their ques to speak and how to say their lines. |
"We came up 2 minutes short this episode? DANCE PARTY!"
|
So you mean to tell me that Troy could have possibly died by Vrak tryin to get the Wild Sword/Zord, and he is being shocked all to hell, yet his teammates are barely whispering "Go for it! You can do it Troy!" :lol
|
i thought it was a pretty good episode. It was definitely Power Rangers cheesy fun and I didn't expect anything more than the usual formula. Loved getting to see their home base quite a bit more. Troy looking over the "keys" in reflection was a cool way of reminding the audience of the Ranger War coming and the many different rangers that came before.
I wonder if the Gosei Green suite will be used in any shape or form? Maybe by Tommy in some weird way to introduce the silver ranger? http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...1a8b18d4a9.jpg |
Is it wrong that I keep thinking "Angel Grove in the 80s was cooler than this" every time I see their 'city'?
I don't know, I watched it, then watched it again. The acting...its starting to improve, but that's like the equivalent of saying that a thing with legs is now a chair. And yes, I expected Gosei to start screaming "I just cleaned this lair!". Now...if we could just work on the Engrish translations. Wild Sword? Really? At least I've got farting dinosaurs to look forward to this week. Man...my quality of sentai is just going on a downward spiral. |
This was probably my favorite episode of MegaForce I think everyone was really strong this episode and I loved them all dancing at the end. Jake is so my favorite ranger in this and probably my favorite Ranger since Ziggy.

At least the Goseiger fights are good, and I can see them without having to actually watch through Goseiger. |

Anyway, I haven't seen this episode yet, but I'm a bit suspect on all these "excellent" reviews, because I can't see Megaforce managing that, but hopefully I'll be happily surprised. |
I voted it "Good" because it was.
However! The Megaforce Rangers promised us "More civilian fights!" this year. So far we have had 2 civilian fights in 11 total episodes. I think this is why we aren't connecting with the cast of Megaforce. 1) Opening intro with bad guys explaining today's plot 2) Intro 3) Civilian Rangers at school doing nothing important to the plot 4) Danger! Civilian Rangers go running! 5) Sometimes stock morph, sometimes insta-morph 6) 90% Sentai footage, 10% NZ footage 7) Quick 35 second exit clip before/during credits Rinse repeat every week. |
Okay. I haven't watched this episode yet. I just haven't got around to watching the last few yet yet. Everyone keeps talking about this dance party though but I have a feeling I'm visualizing it to be way more exciting than it's going to be. Anyway, from what I've seen of Megaforce I've liked it okay but primarily because it's not Goseiger word for word and I think the cast is exceptionally pretty...which brings me to my next point...if they don't want to have much substance since all they really aim to do is get a kid's attention why can't they at least utilize the talent a bit more since it is there. and by "utilize the talent" I mean...why not have Jake at soccer practice with his shirt off once in a while. Maybe Troy could go jogging with a tank top. Gia could be a cheerleader and they could loosely adapt that similar characterization from Moune. and they could have done this in Samurai more too. I mean, back in the day Kimberly was doing flips with a skirt on and nearly all the girls bared their midriff and the boys always wore tank tops to school even though no school would ever allow that. and let's not even talk about Divatox's cleavage, and this wasn't just a 90s thing either...they had no problems giving Tenaya a sexed up outfit in RPM.
I'm not trying to sound like a creep or anything and saying it needs more sex so please don't think that, I would definitely prefer substance over sexuality any day but it just feels like a wasted a opportunity to just not utilize what they DO have. Take Samurai as an example. Their best episodes were when they took advantage of what the actors could do well. IE...Mia and her concert episode, Jayden was decent at martial arts, and Emily and Mike had decent chemistry, and Lauren had good emotional depth, and Kevin in his speedo :p . |
Eh, in my summary, Megaforce is pretty embarrassingly bad, even by Power Rangers standards. It was cheesy and the acting does seem to be improving a bit, but this plot seems horribly rushed. Did it take only one episode for the Goseigers to recieve the Abare Sword or whatever it was called in the Sentai?
Yeah, this plot idea seems like something that should have taken until the mid-way point of a longer season with rangers we had more time to invest in. Hell, the best actor in this whole show seems to be the monotone robot. It was a below average episode at best, and it makes me fear for what they will do with Gokaiger's plot elements when the time comes... |
