Hanamichi On Stage!
I forgot to watch it live, gotta catch it later... |
That first henshin....as if the fruit dropping from the sky wasn't enough, the way the sky unzips (yes unzips) to open the portal for the fruit makes it much more better.
|
|
This is going to be fun. Lets see, what would be a good word to describe this?...
Juicy? |
I love the inside view of the head in the henshin, fun stuff. :lol
|
I do like how he's a rider who doesn't know what he's doing. You can tell someone from Den-O hand their hands in this.lol.
Also after watching it a few times,I noticed that the armor locking into place doesnt make a mechanical noise,it makes the noise of juice hitting a surface. So technically,it is Juicy! |
Okay, calling this now. LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE!
|

Yea, it wasnt much though. But we finally see the henshin. Yay! |

I still believe Ryugen will bite the dust and eventually somebody else will take his mantle. Probably the girl in team Gaim. |
So the series might end up with a rider war......no, not you, Decade.
And Griton looked like a completely minor character! Nuts shall never defeat fruits! Hmmm......slashing oranges into half doesn't seem as hard as it seems......(heads to the kitchen) |
Anyone know when it will be subbed?
|

First 3 episodes are templates to lure new viewers. |
And I'm sold. The raw was really fun and interesting. Plus any show that Signalman/Deneb narrates is automatically awesome :lol

I'm just watching the raw now. I instantly like Gaim himself. Helping kids is the ultimate sign of cool guyness. |
Wondering if I can wait til Wednesday to have this subbed, or if I should just watch the raw now.
|
I might suggest you wait for a sub, since there's a lot of explanation.
From what I gather, and I may be way off, the riders were orginally ancient warriors who fought with armies of full-sized monsters and other assorted horrors for land and shit using Lock Seeds to pull them from a different dimension/teleport them. Something happened and we're left uncertain of the end result. Fast forward to the future, and society is commercialised and what was once ancient and dangerous power is no common place. Lockseeds are used to settle territorial disputes (between groups sporting the Riders names, or perhaps even using their myth to be mascots) with civility by using lock seeds to summon mini-monsters to fight. However, the monsters don't look especially tame or happy about it, and one looked to... change or lash out, before of of the competitor's locks was knocked aside and it went rouge before Giam (pre-rider) closed the lock and sent it home. OR it's the exact opposite, and the Lock Seeds are used this way in the present, and the beginning is a flash forward showing what will happen with this use of mystical technology. That's just what I've gathered from how far I'm in, but yeah. Looks like society's in for a rude awakening. Also, the main chick is DEFFINITELY related to Hana from Den-O. Also also, I think my guess is true, because there's bits of propaganda-style messages about the lock seeds and shit. Almost like this is a city under rule and the citizens don't know it. It's really quite interesting. |
That is why I usually avoid raws. You don't realise just quite how much you miss, until you can't understand a single line of dialogue.
|
Yeah. But to the show's credit, the visuals told the story of the episode very well. Really I just need subs to understand the specifics and exposition. Like obviously Yggdrasil is explained, but without dialogue it's not clear what it is besides the "ruling" corporation looming ominously in the distance. Also, I have no idea who or what the girl in white is.
Though regardless, that was an excllent first episode, simply because of Gaim himself. He was pretty cool. He's not aloof or ramrod rigid, he's just a cool guy who's a good person. His first outing as Gaim was really well done and full of good bits. Like how he doesn't realise how high he can jump and ends up slamming in a railing, then when he falls down opts to take the stairs instead. It's not super goofy or campy, it's literally just as I explained it. Yet despite those bits of breaking in, he still fought the monster off well and was competant in his use of his weapons. His final attack was really awesome, with a double-blade energy strike capped off with a swift bisection of the enemy, and that sword/gun is fucking sweet. And that Henshin was really dramatic and cool. Especially the almost haunting chanting as it built up to it. Really impressed. If I had to pick something I didn't like it'd be that I'm not sold on the dancing (it was barely there, though. I don't think it'll be as focused as, say, samba-ing before and during every battle. We saw one group of kids do it once) and the secondary characters didn't leave much of a mark at all. Maybe that will change with subs, but they just kinda hung around while Gaim went to work/helped people/fought the monster. Also, that's another cool thing, we actually see him have a job, and not an especially endearingly quirky of flattering one. Construction, manual labor. Stuff that builds character. Neat. And finally, that suit. Man, that's one of the most thoughtful, awesomely designed and fabricated Rider suits I've seen. It looks really good in motion, and I love the different finishes. |
So it's worth checking out the raw before the subs are released on Wednesday?
|
It's up to you. I watched because I'm impatient. You'd deffinitely get more out of a subbed version. I'm just saying it's watchable even raw. You won't be completely lost, since visually it's clear the actual plot of the episode. But with a sub, you'd understand everything and not have lingering questions or misconceptions, positive or negative.
|
I couldn't wait and watched the raw. I really liked the opening and Gaim ( haven't caught his name yet ) is likeable. I am assuming he lives with his sister and works a lot to help support her , and i can respect that. He doesn't come off as cocky or over excitable like the last 2 main Riders.
It should be an interesting series. I will check out the sub this week to understand the specifics of the story. But a thumbs up :thumb: so far! |
I wonder what does zips got to do with locks
|
Well that was amazingly good.
|
I liked it. Obviously, I need to see it again with subs, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. There are definitely some callbacks to earlier premieres (lost kid from Kuuga, company ad from 555, the first fight is very much like Ryuki and Den-O's, Rider War from Decade), but the show is definitely doing things in a way that is making it unique. I'm not going to make up my mind now, of course, but it's looking interesting so far.
I do really like the Gaim suit and it looks great in action. Not sure about the monster designs yet, but it looks like they'll be getting more defined. Kota seems like a decent guy and Mai seems in-offensive so far. I also totally forgot that Goro-chan is in this; I just hope he doesn't die and cause his waitress to go around cutting dudes' fingers off (some of you will get that reference). I don't know, there's not a lot to say about the characters yet. I'm a little disappointed to have another inexperienced Rider after Wizard, but he looks like he's going to get competent really fast. I guess the last thing worth mentioning is that whatever version of Baron that was at the beginning, he made his army stand in a banana-shaped formation. That is both stupid and awesome at the same time. Actually, one more thing: all the Riders seem to be in pairs. Baron is leading, Griton is following him. Zangetsu is leading and Ryugen is following him. Gaim has no follower, though - possible opening for a sixth Rider? |

The Sengoku period imagery of that scene is so strong that the rest of the episode could've been crap and I'd still have watched that scene a dozen times. |
Yeah, this seems to be a mix of old concepts, freshened up and worked in together in a unique and cool way.
|
I skimmed thorugh the raw, looks good.
The Invess are a really interesting concept, Yggdrasil is everywhere, the opening scene brings me Decade flashback but other than that I loved it. :lol Seein Gaim slowly understand his powers was neato. The DJ is loaded in Carrefour attire, are they sponsoring the show? |
I thought the episode was alright. The whole "I want to become a new person" thing was a little out of character for our seemingly perfect protagonist, but I'll roll with it. What I couldn't really get behind was the televised Yu-Gi-Oh dance battling radio program. I'll see how that pans out, because it definitely could be interesting.
Yggdrasil was cool though. I can see it tying in with Foundation X if that hasn't been abandoned yet. |

Waiting for the sub before I check it out and give my opinion.
Is it as bad as Kyoryuger was like I feared, does it strike some sorta balance like W managed, is it closer to Ryuki's tone? |
Quote:
The show is not super goofy, there was zero slapstick, and the dancing was brief and nothing more than just some kids dancing for a minute. |
i love kr gaim opening song
|
It's pretty neat. Better than Wheezort, but not super memorable. That may chage. It's a phat beat fo sho.
|
It's very much a mix of Ryukis basic concept with the flare/style of Den-O and W.

Gotta say, loved the first episode. And I noticed small parallels to Pokémon X and Y, given the Yggdrasil references in both, and the two Riders fighting in the beginning are Blue and Red respectively. (But then again, that's my nerd showing :lol)
Gotta say though, can't wait for next week! ^_^ |

Is Over-time subbing this? I can't see any indication of it on their website (and I've been off the subbing scene for half a year).
