Garo Toylines
Alright people, gonna need a schoolin' on the various Garo toylines. After the massive haul I received today I want to make sure I've got the right figures for the right characters. Equip Prop Vs/ Makai Kaido and all that. How many toys of each character exist, espeically the larger sets like Beast Garo, Tsubasabito, or the set I have with Gouten.
Are there better alternatives in this scale? Do I have what's best? I plan to keep the Kiba Dan and Zero E&P's simply for their civillian forms. But what I'm primarily looking for is a complete checklist of the various Garo lines. |
If I remember correctly there's a line called Makai Kado that came right after Equip and prop. It's pretty much the armor without the civilian forms. There where 4 mass releases Garo, Zero,Kiba and Baron. Garo, Zero and Kiba use the same molds as the EPs but Baron used a new mold. Sadly those where the 4 only normal release figures as rest of the line practically became web exclusives. The exclusives where Bado,Roudo,Dark Garo, Garo (Rygua Version),Zen, Garo (Ryuga Shine Version) and Gai.

You are not missing much.
Early Makai Kadou figures have problem holding their weapons. |
I'm actually pretty interested in this as well. I'd love some good toys of the Knights, so obviously SHF is the way to go, but looking on Mandrake I'm forking out almost forty quid (roughly 70 dollars) before postage and shipping has even been applied, JESUS.
So is there any decent alternatives like the Action Please or Arms Change series we've had for the two recent Rider shows? |
There really wasn't a alternative for Garo aside from the Equip and Prop, SHF and Makai Kado but there was a Souchaku Henshin Garo but I'm not 100% sure if it was good or not.
|
Reading online the Makai Kado line was all awful, minus the Baron release, but then I don't really see the point of having a single figure from that line. All the other lines, at least as far as I can see on Mandrake, are so expensive that you may as well just go with the SHF after all but I can't really afford to do that.

The SIC KT line had a series of Zgaro figures a couple years ago. We got all four Knights from the first series, plus Gouten. They look cool, but of the three I have, two kinda suck. Garo has a huge neck and tiny head, plus he lacks a bicep swivel. Zero's articulation is better, but his arms constantly fall off at the bicep. Dan is damn near perfect, but after him I decided I was done with that subline of KT.
The best Garo toys I own are the Figuarts, which sadly seems to be a dead subline as we've only gotten Garo, Zero, and Garo with different eyes. |
You see once again, is there any point in owning Dan from KT and Baron from MK and no one else from anywhere else?
|
So two weeks ago I brought Baron and he's awesome. But my only gripe is that his right bicep can't swivel, so I'm massaging the joint so that it can finally rotate without breaking it. So does anyone else have this problem?

Anyone here know if the Makai Kado and Kamen Rider S.I.C. are the same sizes?

I believe they are in scale not 100% sure though. |

Ginga's finally up for pre-order for Makai Kadou and just in time for Zero's new miniseries! Man, and I haven't even started on the first two horses yet. I wonder how long it'll take for Dan's horse to show up. http://p-bandai.jp/tamashiiwebshoute...em-1000087048/ http://bandai.hs.llnwd.net/e1/bc/img...00087048_7.jpg |

Just got in to Garo - marathoned season 1 this weekend and I need some action figure representation on my shelves. Can anyone give me a rundown on what's available? I've tried a few searches, but quickly found myself getting lines mixed up/confused and/or not being able to find the answers to certain questions like scale/selection etc. Ideally, I'd like something like figuarts or even SIC that has a decent selection including the horses. Do the Makai Kado figures fit that bill?
|
Pretty much the only GARO toyline that doesn't suck are the SHFs, but there are like three SHFs - two of which are two versions of the GARO armour - and they are expensive and hard to find.
|
That's incredibly disappointing. Thanks for the info though.

that really is disapointing that their is no good Garo toyline. I love the armor and would love it if their was a good line of screen accurate Garo figures.
I will probably try and keep my eye out on Yahoo Auctions for the Garo SH figuarts since I've gotten a few figures their for cheaper than even mandrake. Then I can pose them with the limited edition Kouga and Rei Pullips I hope to get my hands on someday. |
Okay, here's an odd one for ya all! I ended up purchasing a Figuarts Garo Taiga (daddy Garo with a big sword), as I figured the sword would be worth the extra $10 or so. While the sword IS rad, I find myself wishing I had gone for the original Figuarts Garo instead, for the more vibrant color scheme. What would you folks suggest as the easiest, cheapest way of replacing the one I have with the one I want? Sell Taiga on e-bay or something, then use the money to purchase Garo proper? Never used e-bay to sell before, so I'm a little nervous of that. Suggestions?

So received Ginga this morning and have a word of warning: use extra care when trying to place the new swords in Zero's hands. The original swords were metal and could handle the lack of pliability of the plastic hands, but the new lighter plastic blades will snap in half if you are not careful. Luckily mine only broke where the blade meets the handle so a dab of super glue and you can't even tell it was broken now. But yeah, that kinda sucks that it happened. So, again, extra caution when equipping zero with the new swords.
Other than that, Ginga makes a pretty awesome display piece. |
