Brief Details From TokuNation.com Interview with Tamashii Nations at NYCC 2013
1 Attachment(s)
We have boots on the ground at this year's New York Comic Con, and our man in the trenches is none other than our administrator Sentai Tamashii! The folks at Tamashii Nations were kind enough to take some time out of their incredibly busy schedule at the show to answer some of our, and YOUR, questions about things!
We will have the entire interview up later (as it was recorded), but we thought we'd share a few tidbits that we were given regarding some of the answers we were given. Regarding Items Currently in Development Unfortunately, answers can't be given to any questions for items that may be in development, so any questions like, "Will we get this?" are not able to be answered. Regarding Items Released in Japan Any item that was released in Japan is fair-game to be released in the United States. Any items that was released as an exclusive in Japan is fair-game to have a mass release in the United States. Regarding S.H. Figuarts of Super Megaforce (aka Gokaiger) They are looking at releasing those figures in 2014. When asked if they would come with the Darwin accessory, we were told that if it was packaged with the figure, it will probably get release. We mentioned our Red, Green, and Blue had their Darwin's separately packed, and Bluefin then proposed this. If you want the Darwins released with Super Megaforce/Gokaiger S.H. Figuarts, let them know! If the demand is there, they'll include them. Regarding Items From Other Properties (Ultraman, Pacific Rim, Macross The good news is that the litigation is over for Ultraman and figures can and will be released celebrating that series. There have been talks with the license division of Pacific Rim and Tamashii Nations is interested in doing some figures as it is right up their alley - however anything that could be released would not be until 2015 at the earliest, as 2014 has a heavy focus on Aliens and Predator. As for Macross? "Probably not in my lifetime." Sorry Macross fans. Regarding Expanding their Market in the US They want to expand but not too quickly. They are very happy with their premium outlets such as BigBadToyStore.com and ImageAnime.com, and want to continue to give them their full support. However you will begin to see product showing up in Hastings stores, and in time, they'd like to continue to expand from that. Regarding the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S.H. Figuarts Combined Power Blaster The Power Blaster is a combined feature. However, the parts to combine it will be included with the Black Ranger, Blue Ranger, and Yellow Ranger. The bow accessories for the blaster will NOT be with the Pink Ranger, as the product was too far along in development to try and go back and add it. So you will have bow parts included with the Blue Ranger and Yellow Ranger, where then all the parts will combine with the items in the Black Ranger release. Regarding a Lord Zedd S.H. Figuart The good news? They are developing a Lord Zedd S.H. Figuart! The bad news? They have no idea if he'll be released. You should continue to express your demand for this item. They are also looking at moving in to the FiguartsZero brand for future villain releases. The biggest sticking point here is that the fans need to continue to speak up with what they want - they listen to fans, they try to give fans what they want - so voice up and let your demands be known! Regarding S.H. Figuarts of Other Power Rangers Series All the polling they've done seems to indicate that there is no clear favorite other than Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. So they want the fans to come on their Facebook and to speak up on Twitter about what series YOU want them to start working on, because they're willing and ready to move away from the Mighty Morphin and start working on other series. Special thanks to Adam as well as one of his associates with Tamashii Nations for his time and we hope for an incredibly successful show for the folks at Tamashii Nations! We will have a video of this interview after the convention. |
I would definitely buy a Lord Zedd Figuarts.
|
I will happily take a figuarts Zedd and SRC Dragonzord.
|
I would totally support a line of certain Zeroes. I may draw the line at Babboo and squat. But I would be totally all about Alpha 5 , Goldar and Rito.
|
Editting the news story now for more clarified answers.
|
Happy, very happy, that a Lord Zedd might be coming. Even if he's a ZERO. Imagine the pose you can put a Zedd ZERO in? .. Oh yes.
|
Oh God yes. SRC Dragon Caesar, Zedd, Rito, GOLDAR!!!!! I would buy them in a heartbeat.
|
I'd buy a Figuarts Zedd in a heartbeat, be it a ZERO or otherwise. No interest whatsoever in an SRC Dragonzord though should that ever be a possibility - I'd much rather the line stay focused on the main mecha and get some far more deserving ones out.
|
I want Figuarts of Grifforzer and Gasha Skull.
|
I want a Shadow Ranger! Doesn't get much cooler than Doggie.
And if they're going to make villains as Figuarts Zero, make sure they're minor villains. Someone like Goldar would need to be an S.H. Figuarts. |

I beg to differ. |

Haha, well, maybe I was exaggerating just a little. But Shadow Ranger did look cool, and at the end of the day, isn't that all that matters?

I really want a lord zedd figuart

Definitely happy to see the Figuarts Bluefin releases at Hastings stores now and can see them in person before I buy. That's where I picked up my MMPR Green Ranger. Went there today and found they had stocked White Ranger and Sailor Moon but the store stock seems limited to one figure per store and if it sells its off to gohastings.com.
|
Really? No one likes Shadow Ranger (or Dekamaster, I'm really just talking design here)? I could've sworn he was popular, at least at some point. Well, I still think he's cool.
Also, I wonder why Hastings. Wouldn't TRU make some sort of deal before them? Or do they still have too many Shinken Reds in stock to even think about it? Ugh... hopefully Canada gets some sort of store that carries these products. |

Even if core Deka is already made. |

But Shadow Ranger/Deka Master would be excellent. :D |
Ah, okay, got it. Well, everyone deserves their turn, so hopefully JF/Geki do make their way out sooner than later. Shadow Ranger can wait for a while longer while more main teams get built.

I probably wouldn't pick up any Figuarts Zero villains. Sally, was OK because she was mostly a glorified accessory to Basco's Figuart, but even then I feel like I want more with her. If really important characters lose their articulation, I'd probably be a bit sad.
|
We need a goddamn Magna Defender!
|
I will gladly buy a Figuarts Lord Zedd, though I would like a Goldar/Grifforzar first myself.
However, if they are going to do villains, do them in the regular Figuarts line, not the non-poseable Zero one. As far as other Ranger teams... There quite a few I'd like to see done, but I'd like to for sure see some of the teams made so far get completed like mentioned on here DekaMaster and DekaBreak for Dekaranger/Power Rangers S.P.D. |

BTW, what is Hastings? |
Hastings is a hybrid book store type thing in the US. http://www.gohastings.com/
It's cool that they're selling Tamashii products, though like I said, it'd have been better if it was available in a store that appears in all the places within Bluefin's jurisdiction. Maybe Canadians will one day get them in Chapters or something, haha. |
Hastings eh? I can get behind that, can't remember if one's near me, but better distribution is always good.
|
Was there any mention of whether future releases that had a gender swap will be female in the US? If they ever get to list galaxy through wild force for example?

Pacific Rim, 2015 at the eariest?
To make room for Aliens and Predators? Franchises that have had plenty of toys made since their release verses Pacific Rim only having a few okay figures from ONE company? Eeehhhhh.... That really sucks. Pacific Rim is rife with toy opportunities, but there has been nothing but NECA's crap first wave and "marginally above-average" second wave. I didn't expect Tamashii to, like, get the license immediately and just start pumping them out now, but still... |

At least with all that time, should they do it, they'll be AWESOME. |
Honestly, I'm still confused by the AvP line. Out of all of the things out there, why those two?

Didn't Revoltech make Alien figures a few years back?
|
Quote:
|
They did. But Revoltechs are kind shitty too. I've had a few in the last couple years and I've never had one that I would call "high end" or "collector."
Kind of like their Iron Man figures. The SHF's are a huge improvement. |
