Bluefin Hints at SDCC 2014 Exclusive - SH Figuarts MMPR Armored Black Ranger
 

Internet personality Vangelus interviewed Bluefin Tamashii Nations regarding their business and how exactly SH Figuarts Mighty Morphin Power Rangers happened. He asked if we could ever see an armored Black Ranger, based on the Season 1 episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers where the Black Ranger took the Dragon Armor from the Green Ranger to battle the Oysterizer.

At around the 4:34 mark, Adam Newman and Xaiver Lim from Bluefin have what is can only be described as a scripted banter back and forth about "Hey, we should do that as a SDCC exclusive and package it with this!".

**It should be noted that the Armored Black Ranger and Shieldless Green Ranger these particular figures would be based on only appear in the Zyu2 footage created by Toei, for Saban, to increase the episode count of MMPR. Though Dragon/Green Ranger has appeared at other times without the shield he still included his arm bands. Technically speaking this would make these the first ever US exclusive rangers or variations on a standard costume to be made into SH Figuarts! A small step in the direction of Battlizers, Spirit Rangers, Titanium, and more!

I'm hoping :lol Because I'll buy anything remotely Adam Park related!

They hinted it might be a two-pack. And shared their hopes to obtain the Pacific Rim license for their SoC line. Which is another piece of absolute awesome!

There never was an Armored Mammoth Ranger was there? Think that was pure American Zyu2 footage. Den-O has to buy Power Ranger packaging! Hahaha

As I recall..... yes.... that specifically only happened in the Zyu2 footage Toei produced for Saban. Whatevs, they're still gonna chill out with my Zyurnagers, Dairangers, and Jetmen. Looking to make a Super Sentia World display eventually :D

That means we'll need some Kaku figuarts.

I'm already all in with MMPR SHFs so I'd buy it.

Pretty cool news, especially if it ends up being a two pack with an armor-less Dragon Ranger.

I've added the Zyu2 addendum to the first post but I also wanted to point something out here. These guys were featured in footage exclusively used in the US for MMPR. Should these figures be made, it would mean technically they're the first ever US exclusive rangers to be made into figuarts. Though a small step, it's in the right direction and opens the door up to the possibilities of Battlizers, Spirirt Rangers, Titanium Ranger, etc.

Just feel that's worth pointing out, so kudos to Bluefin for possibly making this happen. I personally may not be a fan of Power Rangers as whole anymore, but I would be MORE than happy to own US exclusive rangers and Battlizers. If this helps make that a reality then I'm all in.

I love Blacks design, and have Mammoth preordered. I had hoped they wouldve made Armorless Green with Armored Red. But if they make this. I will buy it just for Black. I LOVE that design and both of its users :lol

And GOD would I love me an Armored Black Ranger. But they'd have to make an Armored Blue Ranger, too.

But thy would they make Armored Blue? That one's never actually existed in show before that I'm aware of. The MMPR 2010 toys are the only instances of Blue Ranger with the shield as far as I know. The Black one actually has footage to back it up. I'd rather they stick to things that actually happened in shows than going off on odd toy tangents.

I'd definitely pick up an Armored Black Ranger. After fiddling with my Green Ranger (Oh fine. Dragon Ranger), it'd be great to have that armor on the Black Ranger.

I still need to place an order for a normal Black Ranger/Mammoth Ranger (Whichever I can find for cheaper)...

Well, Green, Red, and Black are getting the Armored treatment, might as well throw Blue in for good measure. And yeah, the reason I say we should have an Armored Blue is because of the MMPR 2010 toy. It's that obscure enough to warrant a Figuarts release! :D

Sounds awesome! I wouldn't mind posing armor black with the Green Ranger, and Red Armor Ranger. It would make a awesome trio.

Not exactly true, Dragon Ranger was shieldless on two occasions in Zyuranger (when he gave Tyrannoranger the shield to get past King Brachion and when he gave Geki the shield while he died) and once (briefly) in Gokaiger, when Gokai Silver gave Gokai Red the shield.

While that's true the specific instance these figures are based on is that scene from episode 60 of Season 1 of MMPR. But recall when he passed the shield temporarily to Geki that only the shield was passed. Burai retained the armbands for some reason. And giving it while he died to Geki doesn't really matter either. That's just Armed Tyranno Ranger which we already have as a toy. We're just saying that that scene only occured in Zyu2.

OK, I gotcha.

I'm more into Zyuranger, but I'll happily pick up this set if it happens. Although I personally would've preferred a 5-pack like the Samurai one in metallic to give me a MMPR Season 3 shelf opposite my Zyuranger shelf. But I think I'm alone on that because they're seemingly hated by everyone else...

I'm definitely more of a sentai guy, no secrets there. But something like this, the concept of it, is way off the obscure/awesome charts. And I love me some obscure stuff. I've gotta have it.

And speaking of obscure and awesome things, maybe we can get something like this as an exclusive eventually too :lol

While it's awesome that we're getting an armored Black Ranger, I'm more excited for the shield/arm band-less Dragon Ranger. I can pose him dying with Armored Red. >: )

I'm honestly surprised no one used their Shinken Green and DragonRanger Figuarts to copy that photo for the heck of it.

Dragon Rangers shield is glued onto his torso, and while it can be removed it's difficult to do without damaging it.

I know, but given I've seen a number of photos people have taken upon removing the shield on here in the past, it was just a thought really.

Oh I've seen it too, I'm just terrified personally of ever removing mine to do it :lol

Neither of my Green/Dragon Rangers have very loose shields, they're very tightly on there with glue, so I wouldn't dare myself.

At least the White/Kiba Ranger's shield is molded to be part of his upper torso, so no wondering if it's removable or anything like the BoA figures of recent.
