Go-Busters Mission 15 discussion "The Golden Warrior and the Silvery Buddy"
O-T now has this episode fansubbed. Yup, it's the same flat acting, redundant pacing and sad attempts at humor that kept me away since episode 6. Masato and J are actually interesting characters, but they're not enough to keep me watching this show.
Back to Akibaranger for me. |
Frankly, I don't really understand the criticism on this show, but I guess it's just not for everyone. Btw, I enjoy both Go-busters and Akibaranger, and I think Toei has done a great job making sure both series are different yet interesting in their own way.
Terrific debut by Beet & Stag Busters. I like the constant banter between the two in an effort to upstage the other, and I think Jan has a rather roguish personality considering the fact that he was an engineer. I'm curious to know why they're stealing Enetron, but I guess this is something we'll find out later. |
Meh, Beet and Stag's debut left a lot to be desired. I quite like their back story but they didn't leave that "extra hero" impression that I love getting from episodes like this. I'm not sure how long Beet's "defection" will take to get annoying either, but I'm guessing not very long.
Oh well, I still love the main three. And Enter. Hopefully next week's will warm me to the newcomers a bit more. |
While I do like the dynamic of Beet and Stag buster, and the first transformation was awesome, but Jin is just rubs me the wrong way, not sure what it is yet, I hope my view about him changes like I did with Gai in Gokaiger. I'm assuming that Jin has been using the plan and the enertron to build the mecha for himself?
|
Oh I forgot to mention (possibly because at the time of posting I was focussing on the negatives), Beet/Stag's theme music is amazing. Possibly my new favourite piece of Sentai music outside of the openings.
|
I like this episode I enjoyed Stag and Beets funny moments. Their finisher was cool Boost Up For Buster Come On. Hyato Matsamoto does a good job as Jin. Him stealing Enertron was surprising but I can guess why he did it

I want to like Gobusters, but I'm struggling. There's zero plot or conflict, and I'm not feeling the two new characters.
They need to shake things up. It's always: 1) Enter speaks with Messiah for 10 seconds 2) Enter creates a metaroid 3) Gobusters show up. If Enter is still around he shoots tentacles and leaves. 4) Fight against metaroid as megazord appears. 5) Form Gobusteroh and immediately use dimension crush. 6) Hiramu and Yoko are snarky. Granted, Sentai shows are formulaic, but without some conflict and an enemy that feels threatening, it's tough to care. |
Ok, here is what I don't get... When Beet and Stag first morphed, you see that parts of the J Stag flies off of him to form Beet's suit, yet, when Beet and J Stag first showed up, J Stag still has all the armor bits, and Beet was already in his suit, so WTF?

- Successfully infiltratored Go-busters' base, ended up forcing the Commander to destroy Hangar 7 in response. - Stolen the blueprint for CB-04. - Stolen other components for the Megazord like the material Delta 39 and the rare component from that earring the Yoko lookalike actress. - Kidnapped Usada, and almost succeed in its destruction - Kidnapped Yoko (via Tubaroid II). As for GoBusterOh destroying Megazords with ease, well isn't it similar to other sentai series like Gokaiger, where the MOTW was just there for the giant fusion robot to practice their weapons on? At least Go-busters got alot of mileage out of BC-01 Ace, GT-02, and RH-03, which is something that Gokaiger did not do very well. |

You're right on Enter, I'm just waiting to see if any of that leads to anything. I guess my complaint about the length of mecha battles in Gobusters is two-fold 1) I loved the early episodes where the individual machines were the focus. I enjoyed the team dynamic and there was some sense of "can they do it". 2) The first time or two they did the dimension crush, it took a while for the enetron to "interlock", but now they form Gobusteroh, dimension crush, and pose all in about 30 seconds. I know that doesn't sound different from typical sentai shows, but it feels different. But my biggest complaint (I have how negative this post sounds) is that the spy theme seems to be completely forgotten. When was the last time they used their cameras and/or binoculars? I wanted the spy aspect to be stronger, and I think that personal disappointment is making me not enjoy the show as much. |
This is my first Sentai show that I have ever watched and I have to say i like it. Enter has this evil to him that I really enjoy though I have to admit some of the episodes tend to repeat themselves a bit too much at times.
|
Here are my issues with the show essentially: They are building up Enter to this great evil master plan, kind of like how they were kind of building up Hakase from Gokaiger to potentially be this huge hero thing that never really panned out, so I'm hoping the writing team for Go-Busters have something awesome in store for all this build up. Secondly, the Mecha fights are REALLY FAST, The Megazord shows up, they form Go-BusterOh, Dimension Crush, Pose. Seems like even they know that their Mecha is weak this season.
|
What I'm most worried about is that there's been all this build up that Messiah/Enter are building their own megazord, and then next week Beet and Stag are potentially just gonna take it from right under their noses and claim it as their own mecha from there on out.
If that ends up happening its going to be a massive waste of build up. |

Well, TV-nihon finally dropped their HD sub, but I guess that's what I get for being a TV-nihon loyalist. Downloading now.

I quite enjoyed the episode. Go-Busters while formulaic, is very interesting to me. It's very different in style to a lot of previous Sentai which is what I think might be putting people off. The new member entrance was just as big and flashy as I expected, but still left a lot of questions unanswered.

Okay, finally watched the episode. I enjoyed it & look forward to seeing what Jin & J get up to later on in the series.
Also, strangely enough, I'm quite fond of Stag Busters design, but I'm having trouble getting into Beet's. It's just his legs, where he gets J's feet & those thigh plates which I don't think work well with the aesthetic. Quote:

I'm loving the dynamic between J and Masato. Reminds me a lot of Yuto and Deneb.
