S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Abyss Gallery
14 Attachment(s)
Is Abyss a Ryuki Figuart? Or perhaps a Blade Figuart? Or maybe he's a Decade Figuart? The answer is that he's a Ryuki Figuart, obviously! But that doesn't mean you can't display him with Blade or Decade if you want to.
Kamen Rider Abyss, is character that appeared on the Alternate Ryuki world in Decade, but then ended up being an Undead from the Alternate Blade world. Or something like that, I'd have to watch those episodes again to be sure. But what I am sure of, is that Abyss is an amazing figure. Coming in a Ryuki style box, and sporting the amazingly designed and amazingly executed Ryuki body, Figuarts Abyss is a figure you shouldn't miss. For accessories, Abyss includes: a stand (matching the style of the stands that have come with the Ryuki Figuarts) four Advent cards (Advent, Strike Vent, Sword Vent, and Final Vent; and again with the Ryuki ties) Abyss Saber (two wicked serrated swords) Abyssmash (the green shark head thing for Strike Vent) Abyss Visor (the blue shark thing) and a plethora of hands, 5 pairs and one extra right hand, to be exact (all repaints of Ryuki's, I believe). The paint on this figure is amazing! Though it shares the same body as the other Ryuki Figuarts, it has significantly more paint apps. The ribbed parts on the calves, hips, forearms and biceps are painted silver, which really makes Abyss stand out from the rest of the Ryukis. The lighter metallic blue is gorgeous, the dark blue adds great depth do it, and the white and silver highlights are really eye catching. Of course, each Ryuki Figuart has unique molded parts for the chest, back, shoulders and helmet, and Abyss' are quite neat, particularly the gold teeth on the shoulder armor, the overlapping scale-like bits on his back, and especially the helmet. I highly recommend everybody get this figure if you haven't already, it doesn't matter if you're not a fan of Decade, Blade or Ryuki, it's just a solid, fun, and expressive figure. Something about it makes me want to take silly pictures with it, so I have been. So, what do YOU think of SH Figuarts Abyss? I look forward to reading your comments! I absolutely love him. Hands down my favourite Kamen Rider Figuart I own.
But I totally consider him a Decade Rider. Show he appeared in > aesthetic :p |

And as I said, I took some silly pictures of Abyss using every blue weapon or accessory I had at my easy disposal. Except Kuuga's Dragon Staff, I forgot to use that one.

I really love the suit design of Abyss, by far it has to be one my top favorites from Ryuki's.

I completely understand people's mentalities of putting him with the Ryuki riders, but he'll always be a Decade rider to me. The same way I don't see Kivala as a Kiva rider. Love the weapons pics, especially the Gundam one! |
Cool looking figure! Might need to pick one up for myself, after I get done with my current purchases... But he does look sweet, if I end up getting a Ryuki figure, I might get him to go alongside!
Oh and nice gallery Ryan, even funnier seeing those photos a second time, I missed the Soundwave and Sword Strike ones on twitter. :lol |
He looks really cool, just look at the paintwork!
|
I want him, but I can't really justify it since I haven't watched Blade, Ryuki or Decade past episode four, and he's expensive. Plus, he'd look really out of place amongst my other- more OOO oriented- figuar...

Abyss Sword Strike :lol

Cool, didn't realize this was out already. How's the joint stiffness on the Figuarts in general? I'm considering getting this guy, but I'm not paying 40 bucks for a floppy mess.
|
Sword Strike Vent? Neato.
Great gallery, very funny. :lol |
...I have transformer's Hellscream...he'd make a PERFECT contract beast...
|
I'm gratified you are all enjoying the extra pics. They took FOREVER but I had a lot of fun taking them. Sword Strike was the hardest to do, but I think it paid off. :)

His Design is one of the few cool things that came out of Decade. I am so gonna get this bad boy :lol

Its a great figure. Who knew how different a Ryuki buck could look with some paintwork on the torso and thighs. And the Light blue metallic paint stands him out from the other 13 Riders. I can't believe he's a mainstream release. I have him chilling out with Raia and Scissors on the aqua-force part of the collection.

But the Ryuki body Figuarts are all emaculate. |

Its a solid piece all around but its the head sculpt and upper body detail that completely makes it work for me. Nothing short of fantastic. Even the rear armor details have a lot of charm. Its easily up there with Zolda and Scissors in terms of detail. If I had to list down my current fave Ryuki Riders based on the ones I currently have it'd probably look something like this:
1. Zolda 2. Knight 3. Scissors 4. Abyss 5. Ouja 6.Ryuki/Ryuga 7. Raia 8. Verde 9. Taiga 10. Gai I'd probably list Gai much lower if I had Odin. Gai is not worth the exclusive price point to me at least. Abyss wins out because like Zolda and Knight you really get as complete a package as you'll ever need from box with accessories and even a stand. |
Beautiful gallery. This guy and the other new figuarts are the reason I'm having to look for a job with more hours/better pay =p
But yeah, the quicker I can get this guy in my collection the better =D |

I would argue that ranking a little bit, I found Ouja to be slightly less exciting than I had hoped, for a reason I can't pin down, I found Raia to more exciting than I expected, and while I like how shiny Gai is, he really isn't worth the going rate, except for the most hardcore of Gai fans, or crazy completists, like me. He is worth the original exclusive price, but since he goes for over twice that now, he certainly isn't worth that. :( Odin and Ryuki/Ryuga rank really high for me, due to the inclusion of the contract beasts. Like Knight, they're complete in one box, no additional purchases needed for that character, and for really reasonable prices. Thanks for all the kinds words, everyone, I'm really happy with how these photos turned out, and I appreciate everyone else seeming happy with them too. I keep wanting to do a gallery for Knight, but he has so many options and accessories, it's really daunting to start on. Also, I already tried it once, weeks ago, and all the pics turned out like crap. |
