S.H. Figuarts Ptera Ranger Images
5 Attachment(s)
The Tamashii Web Exclusive S.H. Figuarts Ptera Ranger will be showing up on the doorsteps of middlemen any time now. But now thanks to 2chan we have some advance images.
Like Kiba Ranger before her, Ptera will feature a windowless box as has been the recent Exclusive trend. She will include her ranger stick in blade mode, combined with Thunder Slinger, Ptera Bow & Arrow and 6 extra hands. One of which is already attached to the arrow. Ptera Ranger is scheduled to ship this coming week from the Tamashii Web Shop and the Bluefin release of her as S.H. Figuarts MMPR Pink Ranger won't be far behind! |
I'm liking the new packaging cover just like Kibarangers.
|
The figure looks really good. I may have to try and pick one up now.
|
You misspelled Ptera.
Anyway, looks nice. I'm really liking that bow. I'm actually thinking about picking one up. |
I'll be getting her, definitely. I'm already planning to finish the team anyway.
|
So uh... what's up with the random-ass Ranger Stick/Blade Blaster piece decisions between Armored Red and now this toy?
|
Has market research determined that Japanese people don't like window boxes? I am getting so tired of Sentai figures from Japan not having window boxes while the American figures do. Basco, Wars Gilz, Kibaranger, and now this? Figuarts is just begging me to just buy the American releases. Ugh. :/

Tamashii web items are intended for a online market only. They aren't manufactured with the intent of selling them in store so there's no reason to have a window. No one needs to look at them. I welcome this change personally, saves plastic. |

I think this is an effort on Bandai's part to save money, as we've seen Bandai making the blister to a lid format, no longer is the instruction polybagged, since the window is gone, not only did they save on the plastic, they also save on not having to die-cut the boxes to make room for the plastic window. These steps may seem trivial for us, but for Bandai it could mean saving a ton of money. |

Honestly, unless you were planning to display the figure MIB, the packaging should not matter at all.
|
Unless you collect these as Sentai figures like I do. I have no desire to own Power Rangers specific boxes :p
|
Personally, I like the windowless boxes. I don't appreciate the dearth of accessories as much, but as long as it's only non-essentials I can live with it. Hopefully we don't get anything worse than Kibaranger's two hands.
|
Honestly, I think the windows can go even on the retail releases. The art on the windowless boxes look much cooler and images of the figures are still plastered all over them. You still know what you're getting.
And it would save on so much plastic for Bandai. The real problem here is the smaller accessory count. Other than it being web exclusive norm to be minimalistic with those, there really isn't a reason considering they do already exist thanks to Tyranno Ranger. |
Window-less boxes mean you cannot see what figure you are getting - a piece could be missing, one figure could have worse paint than another. Granted, this only matters at retail when you have a choice. If you get one Tamashii Web Exclusive in the mail, that's what you get either way.
However, I would bet that some stores in Japan order a ton of exclusives to sell in-store, perhaps at secondary market prices, and I bet those customers would like to see what they're actually buying. And for international customers getting the web exclusives, they have to open them to inspect them and thus devalue the item just to find out if it's all ok. Figuarts must know that they have some MIB collectors who prefer to display the figures in their boxes. It just seems like an awful idea to scrap the windows, and I wonder if the Japanese fan base feels the same way. |

what do you mean what's up with it? also.. i don't really care about the boxes. i've been picked up red and white at my local comic shop.. so, i'd prefer a window box just so i could check the paint apps before i purchase it. but other than that, i couldn't care less about the box. and, keeping these things in their packaging should be criminal! lol. with all of their articulation, and accessories, these need to be taken out and posed! the one thing i wish these had were display stands. they should all come with stands like those exclusive ones. |
