Ryuki vs Gaim
 

Something tells me Gaim will be a lot like Ryuki all over again.

What next?

You forgot the three "Energy Riders" that will be using the Genesis Driver.

To be better than Femme the only thing you have to do is not dying xD

Gaim has been great so far, and it definitely gives off Ryuki vibes, which considering my earlier hesitations about this season going into it, is definitely a good thing. That said, I do want it to be its own thing and not just try and ride on Ryuki's coattails. So long as it just recaptures the essence of what made Ryuki such a fantastic season, I think we'll be good.

Am I really the only one who doesnt get the whole "Gaim is like Ryuki thin"? Sure both shows have a ton of riders and they fight each other alot but other than that the shows are completely different.

Gaim already looks to have more story and intrigue, as well. And unlike Ryuki, the mystery of where the powers come from is, well, a mystery.

You knew five episodes into Ryuki how everything in it operated? What the deal was with the Mirror World, and why the Advent Decks worked? And why the Rider War existed in the first place?

Didn't think so.

Gaim is being compared to Ryuki, mainly because the guy who is the head writer was the head writer for Puella Magi Madoka Magica, who also loved Ryuki. And when you compare Ryuki to Madoka, they are also very similar. Furthermore, the main director for Gaim is the same as in (Agito, Faiz, Den-O, Kiva, Decade, W, OOO and) Ryuki.

Even though we are five episodes in, there are a lot of similar things between the two, such as:
shadowy figure giving out the ability to turn into a Kamen Rider to a lot of different people
monsters from another "world" (so far, who knows where they're really from yet in Gaim)
each character using something to change their powers Lockseeds / Cards
main character reluctant to fight (well, has been reluctant once in Gaim, Shinji was always in Ryuki against other Riders)
someone(s) disappearing to start off the series

but there's also couple things that are different, such as:
seven Riders at this point as opposed to four, Bravo and Zolda both appear(ed)in episode six of their respective series
"Teams" as opposed to one against all (again, so far)
Beasts vs. Fruit for power source (and even then, the Lockseeds still summon Invess when not in a Driver)
Ancient Warrior & Fruits suits vs. Just random suits sorta monstery themed

The number of Riders being "set" is something that is up in the air at this point, in Ryuki it's "set" at 13, and SO FAR Gaim is "set" at seven (Sid says he has six Drivers to give away), but Zangetsu clearly breaks this mold being the seventh, and there definitely could be more, and definitely will be another form of Rider.

Simply, five episodes in with a few spoilers for later on, is much too early to tell how similar they are, but it is just fine to draw similarities between the two. There are similarities between every Kamen Rider series.

I mis-remembered. I guess I just forgot that Ryuki didn't spill the beans right away was because the eventual answer was really, really lame.

It's not like Gaim hasn't already given us somewhat of an indication of the source of its powers. Magic fruit from another dimension.

Yes, but why, and how? Somehow I think when the show shows us where the mysterious Lockseeds that everyone is playing with come from so early, they're going to explore just what makes them there. Kind of like Soul Gems in a certain anime...

And WHY did they show the Riders gathering with armies at the beginning? What does that have to do with the modern day, and the Yggdrasil Corporation, and the Sengoku / Genesis Drivers? Why do they imprint on the original bearer? If Yggdrasil "made" those six Drivers, what is Zangetsu's? Why do Lockseeds summon the Invess monsters? Are there other Lockseed dealers besides Sid?

Really, they haven't even begun to explain how all of this works. And the answers to all of these will help to separate, or bring together Ryuki and Madoka. (And most of these sorts of questions were answered in both, so I can almost guarantee answers)

Yep, I'm getting a lot of Ryuki vibes off this show and I'm loving it. I just hope we get a better ending than Ryuki had.

Now now, up until the time reversal/reset Ryuki had a fantastic ending, near perfect even.

It's Japan. You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than a good ending.

Kamen Rider Gaim is the "Unofficial" 10 year anniversary celebration, of Kamen Rider Ryuki. ;)

Who would win? Riders of Gaim or Ryuki?

If we're counting Mars, Kamuro, Ryuga and Femme (Aka movie riders), then you're missing the following for Gaim:

Bujin Gaim (a Ryuga type)
Dark Gaim (another Ryuga type, this time even closer)
Shin Kurokage (not the same Driver, powers, or character)
Fifteen (Uses a Sengoku Driver).

PS Lapis is the character's name. The rider is named Kamuro.

I never wanted to count Bujin & Dark Gaims including Fifteen.
