Gaoranger DX Gaolleries 6 of 15 Gao Hunter
 

Tokunation brings you more classic mecha action in honor of Power Rangers Wild Force with a look back at the DX Gao Hunter set from Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger! US Fans would know it as the Predazord!

The mighty Gao Hunter was not always a force of good. In it's first appearances this malicious mecha was under the control of Rouki, a Duke Org who would later turn out to be Shirogane, Gao Silver, under the control of a dark org spirit! This powerful mech wields the Ligator Blade & Cresecnt Boomerang and can utilize the attacks Beast Hurricane and Revolver Phantom.

In it's initial appearances under Rouki's control it was known as Gao Hunter Evil and after being controlled by it's rightful owner Gao Silver, Gao Hunter's Org horn disappeared and it's wolf face opened to reveal the heroic robo Gao Hunter Justice! Gao Hunter was only ever shown to combine with other Power Animals when in it's evil state.

When combined with the Bear Brothers it becomes Gao Hunter Evil Double Knuckle and when combined with Gao Giraffe it became Gao Hunter Evil Spear. Giraffe plus Gao Bear equals Gao Hunter Evil Spear & Knuckle. And when using Hammerhead and Wolf Gao King becomes Gao King Another Arm!

Zen-Aku or Why I Watched Wild Force

/\This. Zen-Aku was a total badass and one of the best parts of Wild Force.

This was one of those figures that I always did want for my collection. Unfortunately I heard that the Alligator is a bit fragile, true?

i know the handle on my gator tail broke a few years ago otherwise the rest of the gator seemed ok.

Mine seems to be ok, but I could understand how it may not hold up for long amounts of playtime if it were given to a child.

I finally got one of these last week.

I couldn't agree more!

I remember when these guys first showed up;
'Hey, some evil zo-the gator's HOW big!?'

Also, here is where I begin my main complaint about GaoRanger/Wild Force.

Of the various Power Animals, we have 13 base molds. Of those, only the Alligator, Rhino, Armadillo, Elephant and Falcon can claim being unique.

While I do like the somewhat universal constant of telling what two arm zords go together (Shoulders), this bugs me. At least GaoBoar/GaoBat were unique in that it would be too difficult to find another PA to redo them as. Then again, Wild Force was full of good ideas that just fell flat.

And i dont think the BOJ version of Gaoligator is fragile. I bought mine second hand even and I've never had an issue. The Korean release would probably not hold up simply because of the inferior plastics its made with. The Korean releases are not straight up repacks but a second, cheaper, production run. I dont know if the BOA version is easily broken or not.

It looks very impressive, doesn't it? Sorry, I forgot, which was your favourite standalone Gaoranger mecha?

My favorite stand alone, as in individual Power Animal? Gao Gorilla.

Now my favorite combined robot? Gao God all the way. It's magnificent.

Best. Megazord. Ever.

Seriously, I've wanted this since I first watched Wild Force and it's one of the few I still want.

In addition to the alligator tail breaking off, one of the the legs on the alligator also broke off on mine... It was the US release.

I have a busted version of this with the alligator missing it's left foot, the lower half of the staff (everything beneath the green gator tail) and no wolf zord, and it's still my favourite megazord. If I ever find a complete one for a decent price (and I have the money), it shall be mine.

If I ever get any sixth mecha, this will one of them :D
