So....Bravo has his own henshin tune. I guess Oren Pierre Alfonso will probably stay longer than I expected.

I am kinda embarassed that I never saw that kamen Rider Gridons name is just the reversed syllables of his Lock Seed.

His music is awesome, his suit is awesome. Mr. Dangerous is awesome! |

PS Enjoy the images that Kamen Rider Voldo brings to mind :p |
I would guess he is a roman Centurion. The Mohawk really reminds me of their helmets and his swords are also very similiar to roman swords.
And regarding being unique...there are no new Riders announced that use the Sengoku Driver and Sid mentioned in this episode that Bravos Driver is the last one he had. |
A few notes, I've only seen the RAW, but I understood enough:
Bravo is the best. I just crack up the center when he opens his lock seed. Gridon's name is really funny. BARON'S A WITCH!!! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!! |

That reminds me, I never did finish making that Toei Filming Location Bingo card idea I had. :( |

If Bravo dies ever I'm going to lose my shit and maybe cry out loud in a stranger's face.

Oh hey subs. Kurokage and Gridon might be my favorite riders out of all of this lot. Of course, now I have to worry if they're gonna kick the bucket at some point. Though, I har they show up in the Gaim and Wizard movie, so they'll at least last until then.
Interesting how Micchy is all strategical about how Team Gaim moves up in the ranks. I'd like to see this carry on once the battles between the riders inevitably moves past the dance teams. I wonder if Micchy and Zangetsu have a similar relationship to Kouta and his sister, with Zangetsu acting as a parent figure to Micchy while they re parents run the company or whatever. Haha, Bravo was amazing. I wonder how this affects the Invess game with a Rider who has no affiliation to any team. Maybe it'll affect Yggdrassil's plans somewhat. |

There's a lot of great things in this episode and all of them are overshadowed by the fact that there is now a flamboyant Japanese ex-soldier bodybuilder pastry chef Kamen Rider gladiator named Pierre wearing a pink bathrobe. I don't even know where to begin with this guy. Let's ask Kouta. What do you think Kouta? http://i1131.photobucket.com/albums/...h13m22s152.png Bravo Toei, you broke your Main Rider. |
Well, gridon appears with baron in the huge battle from the first episode. So he will be at least alive until then. I'm gonna guess kurokage kicks the bucket sometime in the near future. I hope not though, his suit design is really good.
|
Definitely didn't expect Bravo to be that interesting. I thought he would be a bore, but he's a frightening character that I would NOT want to cross.
|
Kouta is a fucking idiot, Kurokage and Gridon weren't going to kill Baron, they just wanted to take him out of the game, so why would Kouta stop that? "No, logic has no place in this storyline, he must become my best friend and bromance partner later in the series, generic writing says so! If you destroy his belt now, how can that happen?!" Still though, you gotta love how Kouta expresses the majority of his performance in Delphon. His eyebrows truly are magic.
There's still something off about the fighting, I dunno, it almost feels like a Fighting Game. The special moves don't seem to naturally flow with the fighting or with the environments, they just look like the kind of stock animation you get for any finisher in a fighter, sorta laid over the top so it lacks a sense of impact. This isn't the case with EVERY move, some are really cool, but others are just so drowned in special effects it just creates a barrier between you and the show. It looks like Kurokage especially could grow into a real badass, if he lives long enough. Bravo looks seriously badass, even if the whole 'Mister Dangerous' thing is stupid. |

The one thing that makes me really glad is that his whole attitude towards fighting comes from his background in the military. Unlike Ouja who liked to fight just...because and that got really boring really fast. |
So Ornac?.. meh...
Great episode this week, Bravo was far more interesting than I expected, and Kurokage and Gridon area fun and quirky duo. |
Kurokage and Gridon feel like Kick and Punch Hopper minus the depression.

"Ornac" is one instance where I think a TV-Nihon-style popup explaining the joke would have worked better than changing his name. Yeah, I hate it when shit isn't translated, but "Gridon" is noun, and "Ornac" is not his name.
Also, the opening credits changed to show Kurokage and Gridon. Quote:
Yeah, I'm not sure how much the belt would stop a spear, but I'm pretty sure not enough. Besides, what they did was cowardly, and if Gaim is going to play the game, he's gonna play fair. Quote:

Kamen Rider Guridons name is supposed to be a joke. His lock seed is called Donguri and they just reversed the syllables for his name. Aesir translated his name into Kamen Rider Ornac so the joke works since they used Acorn for his lock seed.

And thats what I meant with my statement. Explaining a joke is dumb in my opninion cause once you explain a joke it stops to be funny.
Either you tell the joke and you get the thing Aesir did (wich I dislike) or you dont do anything and non japanese speaker wont get it. |

BTW, since I skippe dteh talky bits in the RAW, I completely missed the utter hilarity in the wake of Pierre Alfonso, like Kouta hissing at his image. |
Gridon and Kurokage crack me up. Though I think it's hilarious that Gridon has all the brains and ideas when they're not in Armored Rider form, but when they henshin, Kurokage is a badass and Gridon is a moron.
|
Gridon and Kurokage are just wonderful. They're like every incompetent joke antagonist duo ever and I love every second of it.
And Bravo definitely surprised me. Hell, he seems more scary and deranged than Zangetsu. |
Bravo looks to be the big wild card and badass of the show as of his first and only appearance.
A gladiator themed Kamen Rider who just wants to beat the snot out of everyone to prove he's the strongest and most skilled? Would love a Baron vs Bravo battle. |

Most annoying part of this episode?
The sub I watched not just using "Gridon" for Gridon, but "Ornac"... *sigh* Now back to watching after that complaint... |
Sat down and watched the first six episodes and am really enjoying this series.
Bravo is over-the-top-crazy but it works. His introduction feels rushed compared to the other riders, but they fleshed him out well enough in the short time they had. Throwing a Rider in the mix that just wants to 'mess sh*t up' adds a bit of the twist to the show and it'll be interesting to see how it effects Sid's/Zangetsu's plans. |
I think I have a new favorite Gaim Rider with Bravo. Loved this episode. Gridon and Kurokage make a great comedic team.

Oh I really, really dislike names being changed. It especially doesn't help that the one they're using is so radically different from how it sounds.
After finishing the episode, I'd say you can add me to the list of people who adore Bravo. I didn't care for him when first introduced, but that scene in his room alone convinced me there's more to him. I'm intrigued. |

I get Kouta's nobility and all that, but I also think that him saving Baron is devoid of any kind of logic beyond him being smug and sanctimonious. I'm now hoping that Baron kills Michy, just so Kouta has to live with the fact that in a real war, you play to win, not to be fair. Playing fair is for sports. And it's on him now. |
