Gaoranger DX Gaolleries 9 of 15 Gao Falcon/Gao Icarus
 

This month continues to be wild! In honor of Power Rangers Wild Force Tokunation is taking another look at the DX line from Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger!

Utilizing the power of the Falcon Summoner, Gao Red called upon the mighty Gao Falcon to awaken from the volcano on Sky Island! This Power Animal, massive in it's own right, forms the core of the soaring king of spirits, Gao Icarus! Featured on the DX toy as a lenticular effect the eyes on Gao Falcon's wings are used for the Icarus Bind technique. And the gargantuan wings which can also shield Icarus from attack, themselves measure a whopping 21" across!

An alternate combination exists involving Gao Falcon, Wolf, Hammerhead, & Bison as well. In a battle against the what was at the time the Final Org, many Power Animals were injured and so these 4 came together as Gao Icarus Another Arm & Foot! The wings of Gao Falcon always confused me... HOW DO THE WORK!

i...want...will sell both my kidneys for that megazord. didnt know there was a large lion so.i cant wait to see that gallery

Gao icarus is such a pretty sight to watch as it tears something apart.

I always loved this, mostly because the wing gimmick reminded me heavy of Deathscythe Hell.

I was about to say the same thing!

And yet... I dunno, I don't feel this combo that much. Maybe it's the relative lack of chrome, or the fact that it's a bit blander in the head, or maybe it just doesn't have the right silohette.

I think its just the fact that there are so many random animals and none of them look like they belong together. It has a lot of different color choices that aren't normal present in Megazords either. It really clashes.

Plus, it's arms are just giant weapons, and the legs are no longer symmetrical. It's got long arms, a big chest, a tiny face and thin hips/legs with giant feet.

I've heard that the US ver. has a soundbox in it's tail. What sounds does it make?

Sweet gaollery! I love this combo, no idea why, it just looks great :lol

Gao Icarus is one of my favorite big sentai combos. It's unfortunate that most of it's appearances in Gaoranger are completely CG, but that's the downside of the gigantic wings. The set itself is fun, big, and hefty.

While the US Falcon does feature a sound box I can't say I'd recommend it versus the BOJ release. For me that kind of thing doesn't add much value. It's a fun complex figure as is without that.

.....Wow alright i never really paid attentiont to Gaoranger and now after seeing this i want more gaoranger stuff. I already found the yellow bird and the bison at thrift shop so i need the rest.

So, I bought the Korean Version of Gao Icarus, and after looking at your pics I took down my Icarus and started fiddling with it and wanted to know how it stacked up to the japanese version.

Does Giraffes neck extend without you pushing the button at the base of the neck. Like it's on a hair trigger sometimes.

How are the pegs that hold Rhino and Falcon together? On mine they come apart with very little effort.

I just want to determine if I should buy the japanese version. Because as far as I can tell this just feels inferior to some of my more recent purchases.

Unfortunately I have to tell you that the Korean releases were made from sub standard materials :(

They aren't repacks like you might imagine, they're actually a second production run of the figures produced with cheaper plastics. Joints aren't as tight, much more fragile and lite. Defintely go BOJ with this stuff. Though the BOA releases are pretty darn close in quality.

Man I love this set. Awesome wing/shield gimmick and Gao Falcon and Gao Rhinos just look so damn cool.

Who takes kidneys as payments? Anyone know?

I broke out my Gao Icarus box to put Gao Rhinos back in it, prepping to sell it on eBay when I saw a single feather had broken off of Gao Falcon while in storage. ;A;
